Seagate 4TB Expansion Portable External Hard Drive STKM4000400

OK - I like not having to put all my research findings on the cloud - and so having a handy 4 Terrabyte external hard drive is a very useful backup. And I don't have to worry about solar flares and satellites.I have purchased Seagate external hard drives previously and they have all worked fine. This 4 Terrabyte does what I expected it to do (i.e., back up files and give me some peace of mind) but I was very pleasantly surprised by just how fast it downloaded a total of over 40,000 files. Almost done within a matter of minutes.

It has the ability to hold digital files and store them - for as long as you want. I loaded some files onto it, and was amazed that they were still there when I next opened it. It's very portable too - I can just pick it up and place it anywhere on my desk, no worries. I like the colour, it's sleek, it doesn't make a statement or ask any questions - no one will start a conversation about the colour of your hard drive, great for introverts. The texture soothes me when I'm having a real hard day at work, good for general panic attacks when my other inferior drive dies.Cons: it's not portable when plugged in - you have to unplug it to move around. Disappointed.

Excellent Addition to my home

The Seagate HDD Is a wonderful addition to my Xbox one's limited hardrive space. I was constantly having to delete games to add new ones and now I have plenty of space.Set up was a breeze and the device works perectly. I plugged it in and it worked right away , I was able to play games on the HDD without any lag or disconnection .This device is much smaller than i had expected which is great because it takes up barley any space on my console table . I really love this product !This was my first experience with the brand Seagate and I'm impressed. Just plug it in and you're ready to go

Excellent external storage.

We needed a large storage device to make a backup of a PC and all its drives. Having relied on SSD's performance wasn't critical for our purchase. However this drive performs well, we connected via the USB3 and the transfer rate was quite impressive having not purchased a HDD drive in over 5 years, the technology has still advanced. The drive filled up and with no noticeable degradation of performance, even when nearing capacity.

Great Drive!

I needed a drive to transfer a lot of data that I won't be moving around often. That's why I went with this large drive as opposed to the cost of SSD. This drive is humming right along with the transfer! Simple plug and play, and already formatted for the best portable storage. Be sure to connect it to your fastest USB port for peak performance. USB 3 runs apx. 4x faster transferring data to this portable drive from my desktop as opposed to USB 2. There is no power cord, because it's not needed. It's just plug and play. Enjoy!

Great device, huge storage at a great price

Great device heaps of storage. Had an issue with my PC not booting with it plugged in but this was due to the format being exFAT by default. Easily fixed by formatting to NTFS or disabling USB boot from BIOS.Ignore the other reviews, no where is this advertised as a USB-C device so why would you give it a negative review.Obviously if you are running a USB 2.0 port it will be slow. And your TV is only compatible with FAT32 which is not the HDDs fault. That is the limitation of your TV and computer. Your hardware is not good enough for the HDD....

Huge Storage in a small package

Really great little portable drive with a massive storage capacity. Does not require a power cord, does not have fans or anything like some portable "desktop" units have. Great for keeping in your briefcase to have your backup handy at all times. As an architect, having some of the larger files that arent backed up on a cloud somewhere (building models, etc.) close at hand at all times is extremely useful. USB 3 also transfers/backs up fairly quickly as well, so that makes it convenient.

I brought this for xbox 1 external storage, not going to lie I was concerned that it wouldn't be compatible, but it is. Dead simple to format to the xbox even I could do it without any instructions or referral to Google! Only issues I have incurred is with my actual box needing a cold reset because Noxi (console nickname) was being obnoxious and not loading up my game library. I have even added on backwards compatible games too with absolutely zero issues. I am yet to see if I can transfer my games from Noxi onto the Seagate, which can be personally named upto 30 something characters. It is very hard to fill I've so far used 15.9% of 4TB which is (if I remember correctly) 14 games, this is with 9% being pre used. Reliable and Easy

I take a lot of photos and videos and because of this I need something that I can rely on to store all of my memories and important documents. The Seagate portable expansion works perfectly and I can rest assured that my documents are safe.This expansion is easy to set up and use and has plenty of storage space. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs more storage and backups for their memories and documents. This expansion has really helped me feel more confident and comfortable with my photos, video and other documents.

Pros: Good capacityCons: Loud high frequency whine when running. Really deafening so you need earplugs to avoid hearing damage. Without earplugs, ears ring for a couple of days afterwards. Can't keep it on, of course.
