I purchased this drive to replace two 2tb seagate firecuda drives and obtain some central storage capacity for my desktop. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this NAS drive was faster than both firecuda drives and it provided me the storage I needed. Installation was essentially plug and play and transferring existing files went smoothly. The price was excellent and as always B&H sets the standard for customer service.

The device works perfectly and is quite fast, however the WD Red is less noisy and the operating temperature is significantly lower. These 2 characteristics make a certain difference when the device is used in a NAS. I also noted that when the IronWolf enters the standby mode, then it takes a while before it wakes up and and start answering requests.

Bought 4 of these along with my Synology DS920+ and while I'm super happy with the overall performance it might have been a mistake to not go for a slower but less loud drive such as WD Red Plus with 5400 RPM. If you're planning to use this drive in a server or in NAS that's far away from where you spend most of your time it's a great purchase. If there's any chance you could be disturbed by noises of loud HDD, take the WD Red.

This weekend I installed two 8TB IronWolf drives into my Synology DS216j NAS. I chose these drives because they're on the Synology compatibility list for the DS216j. Both passed a SMART quick test before I transferred all my data to them. Working great so far! Zero issues.
This is an affordable drive which I'll be using for backups. As with every drive, it is unpredictable how long it will last, so I will likely get one more for additional backup.
I built a new server to store my data for my Mac & Windows machines. The server is built on an 8 year old Windows desktop with software called Rockstor. I was able to install the complete server software, add my new 8GB drive and was off and storing all my data in about 2 hours. The software is great and it's FREE. The drive gives me a great deal of room to store all of my data and access the data from both Mac & Windows.
I got these along with a Synology DS220+. They worked flawlessly and so far I'm happy with them. They are pricey though.
It was time to increase storage on my NAS device and I choose Seagate because of reliability. I've used these HDD's for several years now and had no issues, a good solid drive for the price.
Great for Video BKP and NAS. Fast enough, efficient, low failure rate. On sale they're perfect. At retail or when there is a shortage and the price shoots up not so much.
Called Seagate and they say by the serial number that this device was originally meant to be sold to customers in United States ONLY. If you apply from another country for a warrenty case, the device is out of warranty. Galaxus is not an official reseller of Seagate. All offcial can be checked on their website. Seagate said better return the product and buy from official reseller.Sorry Galaxus, but its time to apply for becoming an official reseller???
