As supplement to SSD in older PC

Bought as 2nd drive to supplement SATA SSD boot drive, for older PC that came with no drives. Unit came with "Certified Repaired" label - and I have no reason to think that's not so. No issues installing, formatting. CrystalMark speed test results are what I expected. Good value for what it is - as long as it holds up. Installed it only last month.

Overall I love these cheap hard drives. They're a good amount of storage and perfect for selling computers. Though the amount of use and abuse on each is different so some are better than others. Some can be really quite slow and bottleneck the system a bit running at 100% for awhile after boot up in task manager. Others don't have the same issue. I'd say it's 50/50 and I've bought about 5 of these from the same seller. Pros: - the GB per dollar is amazing and cannot be beat - Seagate name brand - Standard SATA interface - Almost constantly available at the same great price from this seller Cons: - Kinda a lottery some are good some are less good - A few of mine had dings and scratches to the label Ain't the fastest, but gets the job done for cheap Highly Recommended

Great Product from a Great supplier called SCAN!

The Seagate HDD was exactly what was required. It is now with its partner Seagate HDD in my PC. These HDDs have always worked well for me and I trust that the one purchased from Scan will do the same. The delivery from Scan was excellentand the packaging was better than expected and much better that used by some other suppliers from which I have ordered HDDs in the past.

Not as quick as expected but good enough
30 March 2020

Brought this to replace my SSD over fears that if the SSD fails there is virtually no chance of data recovery and I needed something much larger for my evergrowing O.S. and applications. This sounds great on paper but it is no match for the SSD it replaced for speed. The quality is what I expect from Seagate (I still have Seagate drives in my Win98 machine running just fine from 1999) and is nice and quiet too. It may be slower for things like installations and decompressing files but my applications work just fine so not really bothered about the slower data rate. From my research the M008 version is worth the extra cash so I do not see the need for the lesser models for single purchase home use. :-)

OK but a bit noisy when spinning
10 February 2023

I have 2 of those, they are fast considering that they are SATA spinning HDD and so far they have been reliable. However, both (1 in a external USB3.0 case and 1 internal, placed vertically in a Corsair Black Carbide 270R Midi PC Gaming Case) are noisy, the buz of the spinning disk is very noticeable which I find a bit annoying.

Perfect for where I found it to go!
2 August 2022

Very fast in the first computer I put it in. It seems compatible and easy-to-install in others, too! I found it perfect for the second one though, which will be its permanent home, holding BL Lithium 2.1 Linux. An old Compaq D510 SFF machine, but this doubles its storage, allows it to continue to serve Music, and will now be planned to do more! The installation - hardware & software - was a breeze, I was on my feet almost the entire time.

Quiet HDD
13 August 2020

As a precaution I installed this into my iMac to replace the existing HDD that was working fine but as its 7 years old I figured it was only a matter of time before it was likely to start to have aging problems. Quick delivery from FAST and very well packaged indeed.Replacement was very straightforward. I also incorporated an in-line temperature sensor to ensure the fan control system would be fine too. This HDD is as quiet as the one it replaced - almost completely inaudible. I also installed a SSD at the same time and wanted a fresh OS install. Booting from a USB with the fresh OS, that was installed on the SSD then I connected the old HDD via a SATA-USB cable with power supply and in about 3 hours transferred 750GB of data and apps across to the new drive. Same part no. for two different color and size PCs.
13 July 2021

Better description of part. Part no. is correct, but plastic attached face is wrong color and wrong size. I tried grinding it to fit, but could not get it to fit and function correctly. Contour is different. Therefore, I did not attempt to return it. My loss.

Seagate BarraCuda 2TB HDD
3 June 2021

This 2TB Seagate drive is replacing an existing 1TB Seagate drive which is continuing to function as normal. However, more HDD storage space was required and so I chose to upgrade once again with the Seagate brand. Scan has provided me with a number of Seagate HDDs over the years and none have failed nor indeed showing any signs of doing so.Yes, I would recommend this product based on the exceptional reliability which Seagate products have provided me with for over ten years. From a Linux User and a Windows Retro PC builder of XP, Me, 98, 95, 3.11, MS_DOS 6.22, Bare Metal and Virtual Machines - all contained on Seagate HDDs.

Well priced fairly fast Hard Drives
3 June 2021

These Hard Drives are Seagates slim profile 3.5” hard drives, so they’re a bit smaller than a regular 3.5” hard drive, which is impressive for the 2TB capacity. Read speeds are fine at 7200RPM, and the price isn’t too expensive. Unsure about long term reliability, but they seem to be great now. Perfect addition to my home server!
