This Part is one of many New Parts for my first ever complete ground up build computer. All parts where selected for specific purpose for this build which will be my Media Centre PCfor my Home Theatre System once I get my gear set up.It's all new and running Windows 11 Professional as that's what I am generally use to, "Professional"that is. There is only one item I am still waiting on to arrive to complete this build which is a 3.5''front mounted Memory Card Reader Writer unit. Though I am considering an extra 120 Fan for thecase rear to add extra protection against over-heating, though unit is working great. My lack of knowledge has me baffled over why Windows File Explorer fails to show this HDD.I will keep researching until I get it working as it's ... And the fact that it'ssoftware allows it to be turned off when not needed is way cool, if I could only get it recognized.. LOL

Bought for a new UDM Pro. So far it has worked great. Stores lots of surveillance footage and no issues scrolling back through footage. Have 4 cameras continuously recording.

Pros: The drives worked from installation.Cons: I can't offer a genuine review as I have not had these drives running for a reasonable time. They appear to be working well but until they have worked for at least a year reliability cannot be assessed other than that they have not failed yet.Better packaging.

They appear to be working well but until they have worked for at least a year reliability cannot be assessed other than that they have not failed yet.Better packaging.
Pros: So far no issues though had the drive for a couple of weeks, easy to install and use in Ubuntu.Good value for the price and not a shingled drive like some of the WD Red which is also a bonus according to those people who know these technical issues.Cons: Speed is always a problem with mechanical drives, compared to SSD.However the price difference and capacity of space is why I dont have a shed load of SSD's running my NAS.
Cons: Setting up installation process grim. No tech support by phone from Box or Synology which is appalling. Have returned items.
Pros: Great drive, very fast transfer speeds in both read and write and cost effective for the capacity.Cons: Enterprise/NAS drives are much louder than standard consumer drives which can be a small annoyance when installed in a desktop computer. However this is a trade off for the capacity and performance.
Pros: It arrived in one piece and reasonably quickly.Cons: I bought two. One open box and one brand new. Open box one was cheaper and works fine. Brand new one was faulty immediately. It is to be replaced but this process is so far taking quite some time.
Pros: Ability to get up and running fairly quickly and easily but takes a while longer to understand and set up more complex reqiuerements.Cons: CPU processor for DS218 is underpowered for video resulting in juddery playback on some videos.
Pros: Good reliable NAS drives (based on previous experience. Unlike a principal competitor, these NAS drives remain CMR drives rather than the slower (for NAS applications) SMR drives. It is good to see this honesty.
Pros: NAS seems faster to me than previous 5TB Red (but then again maybe I'm just wishing it to be faster). Its fast, huge and should be reliable. Oh and it's a disk drive, what else do you want ?Cons: 10TB still too expensive for an amateur but 8TB coming down in price as these things always do (early 2017). Had to doctor my Synology NAS disk tray to accommodate the drive - the central screw hole + certain indentations required by the disk tray are missing on this (super high capacity) disk design. After removal of the tray lugs there are now just 4 screw mounting points albeit they have high quality rubber shock absorbers. All seems secure but disk mounting is important in a high capacity NAS. Easy enough to fix but if you're less mechanically minded then this ... MorePros: NAS seems faster to me than previous 5TB Red (but then again maybe I'm just wishing it to be faster).
