Very fun. Pretty much like the old games but slightly updated visuals and different levels for the modern gamer. It is difficult like the classic games too. If you game over you don’t start at the checkpoint. The coop mode is fun where you can compete against a local friend. Great on the switch.

It’s fine for a Sonic game. The only problem is that I have never liked Sonic games very much, but I bought this for my child (6 years old) after watching the recent live-action movie with him. He really liked the movie, so I got him this game after reading almost unanimous positive reviews. He found it very difficult to grasp (this is not really the game’s fault, as he is not used to games as difficult as I played growing up on NES and SNES). I hit a wall in the second section of the game (maybe it’s called “Casino Zone”) and did not feel compelled to get better at it.I can see how fans of this series would enjoy this game, but it did not convert me to a Sonic fan.
I honest to god regret not getting the physical edition of this game when it came out. Sonic mania is master piece and I am willing to buy as many versions of it that are out there. Now onto package it came in pretty great shape! though beware the Nintendo switch case came with a piece of cardboard to hold the sleeve in place which was missing from mine so it all came falling out. not a big deal though and it's pretty easy to find spare cardboard to replace that. Overall it came in great shape and I recommend those hyper fans such as to get the physical edition of these games!

Just don't be surprised that the physical copies of this game in stores are of the original release of Sonic Mania, NOT Sonic Mania PLUS. I saw copies available in-store on Wal-Mart.com and went in-person to the store. All that was on the shelf were original release Sonic Mania copies. The re-release, expanded game with the 2 extra characters and "Encore Mode" is NOT necessarily what you will get.If you don't mind (the extra content is only like a $5.00 online DLC purchase if you have the original release of the game), then this is a great price for it! Just don't be misled by the game's title as listed on the website and the shelf tag in-store. It is most likely NOT going to be the PLUS version.
This game is a tribute to the classic Sonic games. It has remixed and new levels, a retro style, and a fun gameplay. It is challenging, nostalgic, and creative. It also has a co-op and a versus mode. It is a must-have for Sonic fans. I rate it 5 stars.
