Keep in mind, for prices of $1600-$2400 you can get a much better scooter then can peak 40mph, if your looking for that kind of experience, the G2 won’t give it.10/10 recommend.

Error code 21? Allen screws cheap and can't fix

I did not receive any allen wrench to remove the bottom screws, or at least one that would fit the weird screw holes with their raised metal rods inside (see pic). I ended up doing the entire trip back home in a weird safe mode that gives ~10% power, barely enough to move the scooter itself with no one standing on top of it. Did that all the way back home, kicking most of the way whenever I wasn't going slightly downhill which took about 2.5 hours, and when it was level or slightly uphill I had to walk and push the scooter. The scooter weighs about 50 pounds so pushing it for miles is not fun. When I got home I discovered my allen wrenches wouldn't fit the screw holes with the raised metal rods inside, so it wasn't just my imagination that these were cheap weird allen screws that don't work with universally common allen wrenches. Maybe Ninebot can comment on why they use weird allen screws that no tools work with? Take a look at the picture and comment. No one can insert their tools to follow repair instructions if there are raised metal rods sticking up in there. So if I can't take the cover off with common universal tools then the only option is to return this back to Best Buy, which is exactly what is happening. Very disappointed, had to do an excruciating 9.5 kick/walk home in the mid-day sun, and can't even fix the problem since they went with cheap weird allen screws.

Excellent commuter scooter

This thing handles my commute absolutely incredibly. It is easy to ride, feels very stable even going over lots of bumps. The suspension feels amazing, better than most bikes (you can't feel small bumps at ALL) unless you go over larger bumps, which is to be expected with a scooter. It picks up speed quite fast, even going up hills. Going up the steepest 7-8% grade hills in my area, it would be flying up at 15-16mph. When the motor says it "peaks at 1000w", it will actually hold at 1000w+ going up hills for extended periods of time, especially on a full charge. It does loose a little bit of performance when the battery starts to dip below 50% or so, but it isn't nearly as bad as some other things i've ridden. It is 36v but the power management makes it work amazingly. The range is stellar. I have to go 13-20 miles in a day, going up and down steep hills, and i'll still have 30-35% battery left every time. The app is quite nice too. The only gripe is it is fairly heavy and bulky, but for a scooter with this much range and features, it is to be expected. Overall, this scooter has been above my expectations and has been a perfect commuter vehicle for me. I cannot drive right now so this has been a life saver.

G2’s A Great Upgrade
26 November 2023

I had 2 x G30’s for the past 5 years. I keep one spare scooter for visitors. Also bought the G30LP two years ago and was disappointed with that one. It’s smaller & lighter, yes, but no suspension, different external charger, etc. A bit of a downgrade IMO. I live in Hollywood, CA and TWO scooters were robbed from my own garage two weeks ago, so I bought the G2…The G2 is a major upgrade! I live in a house downtown, so I don’t need to fold it for commuting or taking it into an apartment or anything - I’ve probably only needed to fold down scooters 2 or 3 times a year to pack into my car. So many people write negative things about the weight of the G2.. So many people write negative things about the weight of the G2.. As an avid scooter user, which is my main method of transport, I don’t see anyone mentioning the huge safety upgrade. G2 has suspension, indicators, way better acceleration (for intersections - I hated getting the nod to go, and then take off like a snail - not anymore), upgraded handlebar safety release, better front and rear lights, proper reflectors, etc. It’s a road built scooter!!I’ve only had it a week now.. but the suspension means that I no longer have to jump unearned sidewalks for fear of popping a tyre. The added power with the newer model is very noticeable. Personally, I don’t like those cheap scooters that go 40/50 miles an hour - that’s too much IMHO. This G2 is stable and reliable.

Good Scooter, but . . .
18 November 2023

I've been on quite a journey with scooters, purchasing, testing, and returning four of them before finally selecting the Segway Max G2. I am pleased with the G2. Quiet. Solid construction. Excellent features. Very good speed and braking system (you need to get used to only one handlebar brake lever, and you will.) I chose the Max 2 for all of these reasons after testing a Kaabo Mantis 10, Segway Ninebot F40, Segway Ninebot Max G30LP, and the Hiboy S2. All of these scooters failed to meet my needs or even meet the specifications the manufacturer claimed. I'm keeping the Max G2, but I must point out that it does NOT achieve the hill climb capability of 22% grade Segway claims, not even close. I weigh 188 pounds. Segway lists the Max G2's maximum weight capability at 265 pounds. Segway advertises that the Max G2 can climb a 22% grade hill. There are two blocks on my commuter route that are a challenge; one is 9% grade and the other is 10%. For these two blocks, my Max G2 slows to about 6 MPH with a full battery. I tested the Max G2 on a 12% nearby hill and it creeps to a full stop. Don't believe the 22% grade claim that Segway advertises., it's not even close to being true.

Great Scooter - Delivers As Advertised By Segway

I’ve been riding the Segway for about a month now. This is my second scooter. The first was a cheaper Gotrax with no suspension. This Segway Max G2 is like riding on a cloud - the suspension is truly amazing. Once you ride this thing you’ll never want to ride a scooter without suspension. Top notch build quality. Performs as advertised by Segway regarding range, speed, etc. App works seamlessly with the scooter, making it easy to customize riding preference to your liking. Very stable ride. Good acceleration for the price. Also - my neighborhood has many long and steep hills and the Segway climbs them with ease. This is my second scooter, with this being an upgrade over my previous being the Max GL30LP.I only have 2 complaints which the Bell and the Weight of the scooter. The Bell is a generic Beeping tone, other riders are not familiar with this beeping noise. It really should make a Ring Ring noise, which other riders and drivers associate with bikes and scooters. I do think this bell creates a safety issue for riders. The Scooter is pretty heavy, weighing around 55 pounds. The added weight is understandable with the larger size, larger battery, and extra features. It would be nice if it was around 10 pounds lighter, to make picking it up a lot more manageable. The built in tracking feature works really well and it gives you some peace of mind that if it is stollen you ... MoreThis is my second scooter, with this being an upgrade over my previous being the Max GL30LP.I only have 2 complaints which the Bell and the Weight of the scooter. The Bell is a generic Beeping tone, other riders are not familiar with this beeping noise. I do think this bell creates a safety issue for riders. The Scooter is pretty heavy, weighing around 55 pounds. The added weight is understandable with the larger size, larger battery, and extra features. It would be nice if it was around 10 pounds lighter, to make picking it up a lot more manageable. The built in tracking feature works really well and it gives you some peace of mind that if it is stollen you will be able to recover it.The blinkers are another great feature and I think every scooter should have blinkers. When riding a scooter you can’t take your hand off the handle bar to do a manual turn signal, because a scooter is really only stable with both hands on the handle bars. This can leave you vulnerable with other riders and car drivers unable to know if you are planning on turning left or right. These blinkers solve that issue. The charging port is a hinged aluminum flap, which is very easy to open and close. The MAX G30LP had a rubber flap over its charging port that was rather difficult to line up and close correctly. This lead to riding the scooter without the charging port open and leaving it vulnerable to water damage. The 20MPH top speed is fantastic and because it is capable of going 22MPH, the scooter handles hills very well. Some hills that previous scooter would top out at around 10MPH this scooter is traveling at near top speed.Battery Life is fantastic, it goes about 50% further than my previous scooter. The Shocks work very well and I often find myself bouncing up and down on my scooter for fun as I scoot around the city. The anti slippage feature also works surprisingly well. I had a few experiences with my previous scooter when it hit ice or another slipper substance and nearly lost control, this scooter has yet to have any situation where it lost traction.Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this scooter for anyone looking for an upgraded model or wants a higher end first scooter.

Rider Unrelated Safety Issues
3 November 2023

This really is a great scooter and probably the best one you can buy at this price point. However, it has serious safety issues that have genuinely nearly killed me. If you buy this, please make sure all the bolts are tightened. I've had 2 fall off, in one case with the wheel essentially disconnecting from the wheel while riding along with traffic. However, it has serious safety issues that have genuinely nearly killed me. If you buy this, please make sure all the bolts are tightened. I've had 2 fall off, in one case with the wheel essentially disconnecting from the wheel while riding along with traffic. I bought a Segway for the reputation of reliability I believed was founded in reality, please don't make the same mistake I did. Thank you for attending my Ted Talk

So far so good!

While I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, it is everything I hoped it would be. Setup through the app leaves something to be desired as the interface isn’t great and stuff like letting two users access the scooter at different times is still something I’m working on, instructions provided don’t work. The fenders are great for riding in the rain and the traction is awesome compared to riding my gravel bike. It’s become my daily commuter. Would say to be very careful with the accelerator setting bc I can see it taking off if you don’t have it setup to engage at push off. I’m in San Francisco and have been impressed with how many hills it takes.Having said all that, the cons for me are: 1, this bad boy is HEAVY. 2: The fenders are very thin, practically flimsy, I ... MoreWhile I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, it is everything I hoped it would be. Very good, but could use some refinement. Please support self-repair!

This is my first e-scooter so I have a limited frame of reference. It isn't too difficult to carry, the ride is pretty comfortable and quiet, and it is usually fast enough for my purposes. I've replaced my car for a lot of short trips, and happy to be saving fuel and wear on it. It's nice that it includes a headlamp, taillamp, and horn.As a 220lb individual, I don't get near the advertised range or climbing ability. After an 18 mile trip averaging 17 MPH, the battery indicator was flashing red and I barely had enough power to roll on a flat paved road. It's quickly bogged down on hills, and I'm often sitting around 15MPH maximum for long periods. Initially I had a few episodes with the motor overheating, but that hasn't happened in a while, possibly because of ... MoreThis is my first e-scooter so I have a limited frame of reference. It isn't too difficult to carry, the ride is pretty comfortable and quiet, and it is usually fast enough for my purposes. After an 18 mile trip averaging 17 MPH, the battery indicator was flashing red and I barely had enough power to roll on a flat paved road. It's quickly bogged down on hills, and I'm often sitting around 15MPH maximum for long periods. Initially I had a few episodes with the motor overheating, but that hasn't happened in a while, possibly because of firmware updates.I have issues with the throttle response and regen constantly. For the scooter to be of any use, it has to be in "sport" mode with full regen. This makes regulating the speed difficult, because of the throttle curve. Often I need to hold a slower speed due to traffic, maybe between 10-15MPH. The scooter will constantly feel like it's accelerating and braking, as I try to hold the switch somewhere in the middle. If I set the drive mode back to D, it cuts back the power so much that I can't maintain that speed at all. It accelerates very slowly, and stops on even a slight hill. The regen also has a very strange behavior when cruising down a hill, it will accelerate smoothly up to 22, then brake hard, causing a grinding noise from the motor. After a few seconds, it releases and accelerates again, only to brake hard and repeat this cycle. It feels very unstable and I have to keep shifting myself as I try to navigate traffic.I think Ninebot could make some small changes that would massively improve the riding experience.First, more customization in the drive modes. Each drive mode should allow the user to set the max speed, throttle curve, and acceleration/power. As a heavier rider (though still pretty far off of the max payload they advertise), I need full power to be available all the time. If you can't provide a user-set power level, at least make Eco and Drive capable of maintaining their top speeds when the vehicle is climbing. Throttle curve is a big one, I have to wrap my hand around it to keep it in place because of the bumps and vibrations, and it's very touchy in the middle, then basically dead for most of the bottom/top, almost like it's only got 3 speeds.Second, limit the initial "bite" from the regen. If I let go of the throttle it should come on hard, but there is no reason to throw me forward when I'm cruising down a hill at 100% throttle. It should ramp from 0% to 100% smoothly, using PID to smoothly maintain speed as dictated by the throttle.Third, add/increase the debounce for the turn-signal indicators. If I press the turn-signal button, it usually works, but if I'm not paying attention and only hit the side or sort of flick it, it will quickly switch on-off or off-on.Lastly - this has been on the market for a few months now, and I still can't even buy a 5A DC charger, and I'm not seeing replacement parts available through the US store even for wear items like tires and batteries. I reached out to customer support to learn about parts and they wanted to start a support case. I'm afraid if I get a flat tire I'm going to have to ship this thing somewhere and that's going to get very expensive for simple maintenance. Please provide a way for people to get parts! Things break and wear out, and having to wait for this stuff is going to take the vehicles offline, shipping is even worse because of the size and weight, not to mention the carbon footprint we're trying to avoid by using PEVs.
