This is an amazing watch. It looks like it should be more more expensive so it is a really great value at this price. It is gorgeous looking. The green dial radiates a beautiful reflection. The raised gold numbers and markers are stunning. The leather band is thick and rich in color. The polished case is so impeccable. It looks dressy with a suit and equally nice with jeans and a T-shirt.

Who wouldn’t want to own an Alpinist? The iconic green dial, coupled with the gold hand set and applied indeces, walks between sporty and dressy, but oozing with an undeniable cool. The upgraded 6R35 caliber packs a serious punch, and has no problem holding its ground. As amazing as this watch is, it does have a few dings in my opinion. The strap is ok at best, and buckles inward instead of outward. The inner compass bezel is a distinctive feature, but isn’t aligned well with the chapter ring.Despite a few mishaps, this watch is simply amazing. It’s clear and easy to see why, it’s a respected timepiece. Overall, I love mine. Definitely going to enjoy this watch.

This is a beautiful watch. It has been distracting me at work. You can see the beauty for yourself - but yes, it does have shortcomings. The strap is just… not suiting in my opinion. Real calf leather shaped like reptile leather, just not very genuine. Not very comfortable either. It will be replaced. The 6R35 movement is also not the most accurate, but mine is currently within limits. The compass is hard to align perfectly and moves easily. If you were to actually use it to get your bearings though, it would be very sufficient.Beyond this, it’s a distractingly excellent watch.

The ergonomics on this watch are perfect. It just the right size, dimensions, shape, weight and feel. It doesn't keep time like a $15 quartz watch, but neither does a $30,000 Rolex. It runs a about 10 seconds a day fast. Maybe that will get better over time. I wish the strap was one-half inch longer, but aside from that I would not change a thing.
Overall good watch but I have a couple issues. The watch is quite small. The face is very small because the compass bezel takes up space on the dial. The compass bezel is comically small and pretty much unusable for me, which is one of the reasons I bought the watch. The Lume is not that great, I almost wish I had bought a dive watch. I don’t like the band because the fake croc is kind of dressy for what I think is more of a field watch. The watch works perfectly though. I’ve had it for a week and the time is the same. I was nervous about buying an automatic watch for accuracy reasons but it’s very accurate. This site says sold out but if you go to a seiko dealer they will get it for you if you go now.
I bought two of these, one for me and one for my grandfather. Overall, the watch is nice. I love the green face with brown band, it looks great for daily use but can sometimes feel tacky when dressed up. The band takes awhile to break in and the time can be off by quite a bit, I’ve noticed overnight it’ll sometimes be off by a whole minute or two.
Recently purchased Seiko Alpinist SPB121 watch. Strap that came with watch is stylish but stiff. I replaced with silicone "Seiko" band and buckle. Watch is bulky and heavy on wrist. It is however very stylish. Not impressed with cyclops, feel it's unnecessary, makes reading date at slightly wrong angle blurry. Over dial size, if bigger, would make watch more visually pleasing. Functionality of watch is good. I would recommend pursing other options. At around $600-$700 this watch is disappointing.
Was really looking forward to this watch. Excellent detail and finish-the green looks great under sunlight. However, I couldnt get the strap to close on my 8 wrist and despite a decent size case (39.5 mm), the dial appears rather small. It was swallowed up on my wrist and looked like a boys watch. Had it fit my wrist visually I probably wouldve just bought a new band but it just wouldnt work for me. Too bad because its a nice watch. Oh, I also didnt particularly care for the cyclops. Had I kept the watch I think I wouldve removed it. Id give it a solid four stars for finish, quality and valueit just didnt work for me.
I ordered this Seiko SPB121 last month.I really like the watch, however it is losing 60-120 seconds or more in 24 hours (running slow).I had set and wore it yesterday, today it was at a full 4 minutes slow (24 hours after I had last set it); this after 4 weeks of mostly on wrist time.I have many other mechanical watches including a SRPC91, SRPA21, SRPB51, and several Swiss, German, and French watches so I do know how to properly set.Other than running very slow, I really like this watch, have put it on a NATO strap. The only other minor issue is the inner compass bezel doesn’t perfectly align with the hour pips by I can over look this.I am just contacted customer service to see if this covered under warranty? The Seiko SPB121 is a beautiful timepiece designed to evoke a romance with the outdoor world with its verdant dial and compass bezel. It is sophisticated without being precious, and remains consistent with the tool-watch ethos. Sapphire crystal will certainly appeal to those desire a scratch-resistant piece, and the 70-hour power-reserve admirably kicks the game up a notch. The deployant buckle is secure, and well enough made, though at some point it might make sense to pair this watch with a band that suits your lifestyle and path. Couldn't be more pleased. It does pay to search around for a fair-price. In the $500-800+/- makes sense. Above that starts to feel opportunistic and gouging. This piece was fortunately well within its price point.
