I got this pair of Amperiors after it came out and it really grew me. It has a very distinct fast and exciting sound signature that is great for fast music. Well it doesn't look that impressive, the sound quality is definitely top-notch. There's a lot of details and balanced sound. It's a little bit warmer than the HD 25. It wouldn't be considered a reference headphone but it's a lot better than some of the consumer products out there. The cord is very thin and robust and hasn't failed after many years. The only gripe I have about it is that the clamp force is very strong and hurts after 1 hour because I have glasses on.

A solid option

I’ve been through many pairs of headphones over the years. They’re great for in the field due to isolation and being lightweight. They’re not the most comfortable for prolonged use but few headphones are. My main complaint would be the short cable length. If they’re still working after a couple years of use I’d say 10 outta 10. Only time will tell. As for now, I’m pleased with the purchase & would recommend.

As all reviews I’ve seen it does offer impressive clarity across frequencies and a practical cable length. Surprisingly comfortable despite its lightweight build, it challenges durability expectations. However, the absence of a case is a noticeable drawback - a fabric-made one would do just fine for carrying it around. Overall, it's a standout choice for audio enthusiasts or entry-level producers seeking a balance between performance and comfort.

Audio is mediocre, but might be exactly what you need

Sound quality will be disappointing for anybody coming from higher-end Sennheiser studio headphones. There is moderate bass boost but its murky and doesnt extend very low. The mid-range is present but reduced and not very satisfying. The high-end is overdone and a bit fatiguing. Allover these lack detail. For some music these will be reasonably competent. I can see why some people like these for heavy metal and bass-heavy pop but honestly they arent that great even for this as the bass quality is fairly poor when compared to higher-end headphones with less bass-boost but cleaner sound. Fairly tight and fatiguing for hours of use but that is to be expected. Be cautious of cable breakage. These would suit any in-field audio activity like sound recording/monitoring. Probably decent for DJs but there are plenty of other options. Home music producers would be better off with a better set of studio monitors (or use a good pair of bookshelf monitors instead). So these are great for the intended purpose for use by professionals but for music listening or similar they are only okay, and disappointing when considering the retail price.

This would be the Illmatic of Headphones for DJs.Sennheiser kept If it ain't broke, don't try fix it.Many user replaceable parts. Light weights construction for hours of use without fatigue. I believe 2024 marks the 35 years anniversary of this headphones. As glasses wearer, on-ear nature of this headphones works wonder.Since nothing existed in this world is perfect, here are few cons;little thin and easy to get tangled straight cable, coiled cable is also nice to have but little to heavy and long for my taste. Although included Pleather pads are comfy, and gets worn out rather quick. Invest in velour pads like ones from DT770.

Excellent audio quality

Bought these for use with my iPad. Lightweight, comfortable, great sound for the money. These sit on the ear so there is some pressure but I had no pain or discomfort from that due to the soft ear pads. Really these rival some of my far more expensive headphones. Super fast delivery from BHPhoto.

Good sound, cheap build.
1 June 2020

I agree mostly with previous reviewers. The sound and separation on this set is nothing short of spectacular. They are tight but I think that they will fit better after the break-in period or at least I hope. I don't think I can't add more to what has already been said by previous reviewers. However, the build quality of the set leaves a lot to be desired. I appreciate the fact that they are lightweight, but sometimes a little mass is not a bad thing. They are constructed out of cheap plastic which resembles more a product made in China. Quality-wise, I don't have high expectations on the durability of the vinyl covering the headband and the ear pads. I have a pair of SONY headphones purchased at the megastore for $30 almost 8 years ago that have and feel better built than these HD-25. If we erase the Seinnhesiser logo from the side, they would pass as a cheap megastore generics for youth.Thank goodness I came back to get a pair of Audio-Technica when I noticed that B&H dropped $50 on them. They were kind and diligent to credit me the difference. The sound is good don't get me wrong but *not* $100+ better than my generic SONYs. I have tested them against the Pioneer SE-MS5T-T and at half the price they do not have much to envy the Sennheiser.I'm giving them 4 stars out of respect for the brand and the quality of the sound. But the overall build is quite a disappointment.

I can see why these are popular with DJ's
4 June 2020

I'm only starting to get into mixing techno on my Pioneer DDJ-400, and wanted something more durable than my over-ear Sony XB950BT's. The Sony's are fun sounding headphones, but I knew I needed something a little more neutral and not bass boosted. The build quality of the HD25 is most definitely plastic, but the headband and earphone hinges are durable feeling in the sense that they won't eventually snap from taking them on/off your head multiple times during a mix/set. The finish is this dark, almost matte-like low gloss - will help prevent scratches and hide wear very well. It's also a good benefit that all HD25 components can be replaced, which adds to the longevity of the product and means less wasteful consumerism by buying new, throwaway product. The sound - ... MoreI'm only starting to get into mixing techno on my Pioneer DDJ-400, and wanted something more durable than my over-ear Sony XB950BT's. It's also a good benefit that all HD25 components can be replaced, which adds to the longevity of the product and means less wasteful consumerism by buying new, throwaway product. The sound - definitely an increase in highs and mids, with the bass not rumbly/boomy like my Sony XB950BT. The bass can get strong, but it is controlled and cleaner. I'm no audiophile, but I now understand that the type of messy, festival/rave bass isn't the right kind of bass when it comes to mixing. The HD25's also have pretty good noise isolation considering its an on-ear design.I actually wore these for about 2-3 hours today after receiving them with hardly any ear soreness. The split headband does help alleviate some of the pressure off your ears. Definitely noticed that I didn't get hot or sweat (even during this hot afternoon). An over the ear headphone would make me feel the opposite. They're very lightweight and comfortable, and adding 3rd party ear pads would only make the comfort even better.Overall, for the $99 price I got these at makes this a very good value considering how these will probably last me the next decade - a timeless and robust piece of DJ kit everyone should have.

The Ideal DJ Headphone
12 September 2024

If you are a DJ looking for headphones, stop looking, because basically every feature you want is right here. The HD 25 is lightweight and snug fitting, so it won't tire out your neck or fall off when you're dancing around. The HD 25 has a swivel mounted ear cup, so you don't have to wear the headphones "crooked" to achieve single ear listening. The high frequency response sounds properly represented without being harsh, while the low frequency response is absolutely massive without being exaggerated. Sennheiser clearly designed these specifically for the DJ crowd (especially club DJs), and they nailed it. My only complaint (and I'm reaching here) is the headphone cable isn't a coiled cable that offers some 'give', which is why I gave them 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars.

the worst headphones I ever used
5 December 2023

Overall:From day one those headphones been giving me major problems by completely disconnecting and connecting multiples times during my gigs completely distracting my flow and irritating my mood. When I complained about the issues they took it to the factory and "fixed it" When I got it back it worked for 2 days and I had the same issues again. If you have long hair it will tangle HARD in them . The pointy parts for size adjustment catch hair and the only way to get out of it is to rip your hair. I never been so disappointed with the product. They should've just replace the item and not give me damaged item to begin with . All other equipment I got from zZounds is great . just those headphones HORRIBLE!
