These are my first pair of headphones getting into the Audiophile hobby. It's been a year now that I have had them. Where do I start.First all. These are definitely my go to reference headphones. Very neutral sound. Clean bass. Clarity towards the top but not too bright. Mids are not pushed forward.I have gotten a pair of Beyerdynamics and a pair of Hifiman Planars in my headphone rotation. The Sennheiser HD660S always seem to surprise me even after a year. I got into tube amps as well and been a blissful journey so far.In summary, I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for quality sound. The only con is the bass can have a little bit more punch but a little EQ can fix that.

Huge step up from my previous IEMs (moodrop arias). In hindsight, I should have gotten the HD600s, but this is still very good, it's all a matter of preference. The soundstage is massive compared to the IEMs buti can't say much as there is nothing I can compare it to. I let my mate try them and he said it was like stepping into another universe of music. I can hear instruments I never even knew were in my favourite songs. Gotta use them in a quiet room though as they are open backs (but you probably already knew that). If you are worried about sound interrupting your music, if you can drop a 20 cent coin onto a pillow and hear it from one meter away, your room is probably quite enough.

It’s is Superb headphone. Bass is good however it’s not too much by not making fatigue. Sound staging is very clear to notice. In fact, I was able to hear all the instruments clearly. Even if I don’t concentrate on background instruments, the 660 s2 headphone will notice me about tiny instruments sounds. Overall good headphone for the one who is looking for decent bass, better sound imaging and vocal forward feature.

Great experience with Audio46. Teams is great at 46 knowledgable staff great customer support and product arrives as described and timely.660s is part of the lengendary 6XX line.660s is a tweak on the design with an unchanged lush mid range and slightly tweak treble and bass.Looking for a phone that will not let you down. This is it.
I bought the Sennheiser HD660S head phones and boy am I glad that I did. They are "open back" cloth ear pieces with a wonderful sound. The other pair of head phones that I possess are "closed back" with leather ear pieces. I eventually stopped wearing them because they became too sweaty and uncomfortable and after approximately an hour I got bored with the music because the sound coming through was in my experience not so good. Although this is a subjective experience. After switching to the Sennheiser HD660S head phones my experience in the change of detail, liveliness of the music and comfort was like night and day. I can wear these head phones for hours on end listening to any type of music and even watching programmes such as the news. I just do not become bored and uncomfortable. They are well worth the amount of money that I paid for them.I read a write up of some one complaining that there is not enough bass coming through the head phones. This is a subjective call but my subjective call tells me that my damaged hearing from my youth still easily picked up enough bass in the music that I listened to. I suppose "each to his own".And as usual the Customer Service from Richer Sounds was the best. Advice received, bought today and delivered tomorrow. Thanks once again to the crew at Richer Sounds Exeter.
purchased for $350 thru this high quality purveyor. Definitely better than a 6xx — a bit more on the low end, bigger and more accurate soundstage, more musical with greater detail extraction. BUT as another reviewer stated, and like the 6xx, the clamping force is very real, and for myself not a comfortable ride for more than an hour or two. The balanced cable is a nice addition, but it’s extremely ordinary, and a high quality aftermarket would likely incrementally improve performance. Other reviewers find them very comfortable and you might too. Very engaging, accurate (not technical, with only the rarest of sharp edges at moderate volume) and spacious sound.
These headphones are incredibly comfortable and have a precise and detailed sound quality. The extra low-end they provide helps add some more fun and life to the sound, although they still won't match some good closed-backs in that regard. I've read that these headphones can be slightly harsh in the high ends, but I haven't noticed this issue paired with the Schiit Jotunheim using the warmer modi multibit DAC.
It’s an absolutely brilliant upgrade over 650/600/660SEasier to drive while being just as brilliant while being less dependent on EQ to make it shineEverything seems to have been improved across the boardHonestly, this is one of the biggest values in audio todayThis is even bigger value than 600 at 20k because the 660S2 is more palpable for the masses at large and also improves on technicalities for hardcore audiophiles
I had been looking for some headphones for late night/early morning listening when the family are asleep and wanted to invest in a quality pair to match the rest of my setup.I had read many reviews before deciding to audition a few pairs (mainly Grado, Sennheiser, Focal) and I wanted an 'open' pair, having already a closed pair.I demoed and decided on the Sennheiser HD 660S and have not looked back. The Sennheiser HD 660S are a fantastic audio experience, they have a great, wide soundstage, excellent stereo imaging, a tremendous level of rich detail and are relatively easy to drive. I have them connected to one of several integrated amplifiers, but they work surprisingly well when connected directly to my laptop or my smartphone. They come with a wide variety of cables to suit almost any need (even balanced) and since the cables are detachable, they can be replaced with 3rd party cables if needed.I'm currently going through a 'female vocal', 'acoustic' and 'jazz' phase of listening where often quietly recorded passages need to be presented and not get 'lost' in the mix, and the Sennheiser HD 660S help dig out and present those details perfectly. They manage to pick out small details in a recording in great clarity and present vocals excellently.I am not a 'bass head' and do not listen to such 'bass-heavy' music so cannot comment much on that aspect, but they perform excellently in bass, mid-range and treble for my listening needs, completely overdelivering what I was expecting from a headphone experience.Note that since they are an open design, you can still hear external ambient sounds, so a quiet listening environment is recommended. They are not the best choice for 'out and about' listening in a noisy city, or for enjoying music when your washing the dishes! With such an open design there is significant 'leakage' meaning people sitting close by can also hear music to some extent. This is not an issue for me but worth considering. The final word is I am extremely happy with my purchase and am looking forward to many more hours of late night/early morning critical listening from these excellent headphones.
You will enjoy the music as these sound good but little tight fit heavy when compared to competition like Sony MDR MV1 (which I owned already) . It's good looking when we compare it to Sony ones but only problem for me is it's tight fitting and I found little heavy for long listening, I can't bear these or even sony more then 40 mintues max in one go. Price could also be little better. But it's worthy one if you want to enjoy music at its best at stage live performance rather then in your head like closed back. One of the best ones in open back but again little tight fit and heavy for me.

Sennheiser HD 660S
The HD 660 S features a new transducer design developed by Sennheiser. This results in improved control of the diaphragm movements thanks to a specially manufactured precision stainless steel fabric, which is adapted to the contour of the diaphragm. Extremely light aluminum voice coils ensure the highest impulse fidelity. The transducers are carefully selected and paired by hand to ensure consistently narrow (±1 dB) tolerances. The HD 660 S has been created to enjoy music in supreme quality and from many different audio sources. Thanks to its low impedance it also offers reference-class fidelity with hi-res mobile players. Naturally, the HD 660 S reveals its full potential when it is connected to the balanced outputs of a dedicated headphone amplifier such as the HDV 820 or to the balanced output of a mobile digital audio player. Accordingly, it comes with a choice of cables for just about any occasion. All cables are made of highly conductive OFC copper, featuring very low handling noise and sturdy para-aramid reinforcement. Everything about the HD 660 S makes listening a pure pleasure - not least its strong yet lightweight open construction. The elliptical ear cups are shaped to follow the anatomy of the ear, while thick padding on the headband and the replaceable ear cushions guarantee hours and hours of listening in supreme comfort.
