I'm a bit of a tone geek!I've got many different pickups in many different guitars. All different brands! However all of my guitars with Seymour Duncan's, are the ones that get the most use! This Seymour Duncan 59 is a great neck pickup! It matches well with almost any bridge pickup I pair it with! Actually this is my third 59 for a neck position!The tone/feel/dynamics of this pickup are spot on for anything from clean all the way to heavy dirt!It's a true "tone in your head" pickup!

Overall:I purchased and installed the Seymour Duncan "Vintage Blues Set" which is a '59 humbucker in the bridge and a '59 humbucker in the neck. I know a lot of guitarists prefer a SD JB humbucker in the bridge for a hotter sound, but I must say Ronnie Montrose swore by this matched set. All of his guitars had SD '59's in them. Mine are in a 2011 Gibson USA SG Standard. I didn't care for the "Zebra" Burstbucker #2 & #3 with Alnico II magnets. The '59's use an Alnico V magnet which I think has a much fuller tone. Anyway, I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a matched set of replacement humbuckers to go with the SD "59's. They are really really good and sell at a fair price.

Ive been playing guitar for 45 years, seen them all EVH, Rhoads, Uli etc.. playing through loud Marshalls since the JCM800 came out. Ive tried almost every pickup out there. Wire them in myself etc. A lots of guys chase tone looking for that clean sparkling brown sound Youre not going to get with high output pickups! You aint! The secret is low output HBs with high gain amps. The 59s are perfect! AlNiCo V mags Tighter than AlNiCo II but just as juicy! Go get em!

I put one of these in my 2004 Epiphone g400 replacing the original pickup. I wanted a Gibson 57 Classic+ but didn't want to spend that much for an Epiphone guitar. This pickup was a perfect choice. Wow! What a difference. Now I want to get one for the neck position. You can't go wrong with a Duncan!
I have a great custom built G&L double humbucker strat style guitar that I didn't play a whole lot because the bridge pickup was a JB, as with most g&l's. It had this great neck 59 bucker, then everything felt too hot when the bridge was chosen. Now there are those who'll say I'm being less versatile by putting another 59 in it, but the reality is that I play this guitar MORE now than my others. I feel like it is now my dream guitar that I want to grow old with. Switching pups is natural sounding now- not out of place sounding. Nobody comments on the coil splitting. I have the 4 conductor models in neck and bridge. The 59 bridge surpasses the JB by far in the split coil sound. Put this pick up in a Les Paul kit I assembled. I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio, Standard and an Epiphone Paul with the Slash pick ups. The kit guitar is my best sounding guitar now, imo. The articulation between notes is outstanding and it cleans up really well by with volume adjustment. I don't know why, but it does clean up much better than my other guitars. For example, I can use the lead channel on my Marshall DSL50 and play the intro, rhythm and leads for ZZ Top-La Grange without any pedals or channel switching!
I upgraded both Duncan designed pickups that came standard with my D'Angelico Premier SS.guitar. It sounds wonderful. The guitar is actually more difficult to play than it was, because the new pickups are sensitive to every nuance of my right hand fingerpicking. That will allow me to adjust my technique for the better.
I needed a Classic sound pickup for the amazing 2003 Epi Dot I found in a used guitar store. The neck pickup had already been replaced with a Gibson PU, so it had a rich bell like tone and about 7.8 mA output. This SeymourDuncan '59 was a solid match. I play in a 60's, 70's cover band so I need versatility and not hairband distortion. Whether using this pickup alone or in blended combination with the neck pickup, I can get just the right tone cleanly.
I paired this sweet pup with an SH-5 Custom in the bridge. My original intention was to make a punk rock Tele (it has to be a Tele for me) as my drummer buddy who refuses to grow up wants to get the high school garage band back together. I decided to install this one as an afterthought thinking meh, maybe I'll get a little versatility while I'm fattening up my sound. And boy howdy, does this thing ever fatten things up. It's deep, fat, and smooth but not at all too bassy. Originally my "punk guitar", I now spend more time in the neck position slightly overdriven than on the bridge running through a high gain box.
This sounds great, warm, rich, it's just as advertised. I had a difficult install, the single conductor is actually really simple but my particular wiring situation (very common- tele w/ neck humbucker, single coil bridge, 3-way switch, 1 vol 1 tone pot) wasn't listed on the Seymour Duncan site in conjunction with a single conductor like the '59. S.D. support responded to my email promptly, all said and done it sounds awesome, much more clarity than the stock G&L I replaced.Bottom line if you haven't swapped a 4-way conductor humbucker for a single conductor, it is a fairly delicate process for the 1st time, without a lot of clear help online.
