I was unsure whether to go for shark as I have the vax spot cleaner which did its job, however I feel the spotwash isn't needed anymore. The shark comes with a spot wash built in and multiple different attachments. The only draw back is the size of the tanks, every 5 minutes emptying and refilling, otherwise it would literally be perfect. The dirt that comes out when you’ve three dogs is UNBELIEVABLE ! Will be cleaning my carpet’s regularly from now on! For stains I used the scrubber hose- this is fab and really gets right down to the base of the stain. Love this machine- next up fabric headboard using one of the tools (really hoping I never have to use the innovative dog mess tool, although it may come in handy soon as one dig is now getting on a bit. It would be good if shark supplied this with a stain repellant as my sofa had a stain repellent when I bought it- not sure if this would ok have washed off now and think it would be a great addition to the two cleaning fluids suppled.

It’s much heavier than expected and the spray is quite a volume! It certainly soaks everything so was anxious it wouldn’t dry out thoroughly. Cleaning solution is quite a sweet fragrance at first too. But cleans very effectively. When I saw the removed water colour I was hugely surprised. Not confident yet to do carpets but upholstery came up a treat and really noticed a huge difference and removed the contact stains on light coloured fabric on our sofa. Need to try out mats before I go to carpets. Its bulkiness made it a challenge in confined places but might be my lack of experience and approach. The main switches once mastered were great to select the extra drying and that’s its saving grace for me. It had darker places where people walked on it constantly, & quite a few dirty spots where things had been spilt. After following the instructions, I was amazed at how much dirt was lifted from the carpet. The nearest plug is about 3 feet from the top of the stairs, so not ideal, & there isn't a plug at the bottom of the stairs. I'm also not sure if an extension lead can be used. If the cleaner has to be balanced on the stairs so it will reach, it may not be very safe.Having said all that, I do think this is a great cleaner, much better than the other well known brands I have tried before, so even with the slightly negative things I've mentioned, I'm very pleased with how well it performed.

Went back to a corded vaccume after having cordless for a while - so maybe that helps, but i cant fault the vaccume, so I decided to buy this carpet cleaner when I saw it advertised.Unfortunatly after using it a few times, it does not clean anywhere near the level that my Vax does. The benefit of the shark is its lighter, smaller, and the hose attachement is always connected which is helpful. The diry water tank does not hold as much though, nor does the cleaning tank, so im filling it up more. YOu also cant dictate the amount of solution you spray. I have a very small carpeted dining room area and I've got to do at least 2 tanks to clean that area. My carpets felt bouncy and soft. Nor did I experience the musty smell I was left with for a couple of days after using my old carpet cleaner.The components of the CarpetXpert StainStriker EX200 are easy to remove, clean and reassemble ready for next use.
