Shark has changed my mind with this one. I recently moved into a house with only hardwood floors, so this device is exactly what the doctor ordered.Packaging:Nothing real special here, you have the device, a bottle of solution and a base for charging. Not really much else to say here.Cleaning:Like I said above, I was skeptical, I didn't think yet another battery powered cleaning device would do that great of a job, fortunately I was wrong. It seems to be more than up to the task for cleaning my entire house, it's not terribly loud. I do wish it had a wider track since I am using it everywhere. Solution seems to last a while per use, so that's a good thing. It picks up everything in the way, though it does have an easier time with larger things, that said it gets up all the cat hair (and cat messes) with ease, stronger suction would be good, but again, I haven't really had big issues with it, it's more of a wish than a need.Cleanup:After finishing with it, there is some cleanup as with all devices of this style, it doesn't have a lot of pieces so cleanup is relatively easy, though the hardest part is cleaning the main unit versus the rollers and such, fortunately it is lightweight so flipping it over to get out the remainder of the debris is easy. It may just be me though, I tend to get kind of intense with cleanup of these devices, so I use a hose outside. With the battery attached, just be careful not to get the whole thing wet.Overall:I do like it, it's a massive step up from similar portables I've had in the past, is it perfect? No, but it does get the job done. I would happily recommend it. Why 5 stars? When compared to everything else similar I've used in recent memory, it is the best option.

I’m not a huge fan of using my mop to clean my ceramic tile floors. You need a bucket of water, you have to frequently wring out the mop, not very convenient. So I was excited to try out the Shark HydroDuo. The HydroDuo is lightweight, easy to assemble, easy to use, and easy to maneuver. It has a pivoting head that makes it easy to get around obstacles, like toilets or furniture. The HydroDuo is surprisingly quiet. It’s quieter than a typical cordless vacuum cleaner, I would say it is maybe a bit louder than an electric toothbrush. The water/cleaning solution reservoir is easy to fill and the volume is ok (a bit less than 16 ounces total). The water/cleaning solution reservoir is easy to fill and the volume is ok (a bit less than 16 ounces total). This was enough to clean about 3 quarters of my ceramic tiled kitchen floor (about 154 square feet) before refilling, although I may have been able to do it all with one fill had I been more conservative with my spraying. It’s difficult to know how much water you need to spray to get the roller sufficiently saturated, so your mileage may vary. The HydroDuo actually cleaned the floor quite well and it also dried quickly. I was also impressed with the battery life for the HydroDuo. I was able to clean my kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a hallway all without exhausting the battery. My major complaint with the HydroDuo is the small size of the dirty water reservoir. At around 4 ounces, the dirty water reservoir is significantly smaller than the water/cleaning solution reservoir (about 16 ounces). This means having to stop and empty the dirty water reservoir every few minutes. If you are cleaning far from a sink, you may want to keep a bucket nearby. This is a major problem with the Hydro Duo, I’m not sure why they didn’t design it with a dirty water reservoir closer in size to the clean water reservoir. It means that the HydroDuo might be better suited to smaller spot cleaning jobs rather than cleaning big floors all at once. The floor cleaning solution is also proprietary from Shark. The manual says to only use their solution, I don’t know whether there are any 3rd party alternatives. This is obviously not an issue with an ordinary mop, since you can use a wide selection of soaps and cleaning solutions. Overall, the Shark HydroDuo cleans my floors quite well and is easy to use, but it would be much more convenient to use if it had a bigger dirty water reservoir.

I ended up vacuuming with my other cordless vacuum because I want to only use the Shark-HydroDuo as a cordless powered mop and I do not want to get a bunch of debris on the roller and get it real dirty. This machine is good for the final phase of cleaning your floor and it makes cleaning your hard floor much easier than a mop because it does a lot of the work for you. I would not use it as a machine to skip sweeping or vacuuming first personally unless you have a small area that you do often. The Shark HydroDuo does not have two batteries nor does it have a way to swap batteries out which I think was a mistake by Shark to have an integrated non-removable battery. That obviously limits the square footage you can clean in one session. I was able to do a pretty large area with it probably between 300-350 square feet but I went over it very thoroughly going forward and back. While I was using it I noticed a couple of things. One it sprays out a lot of liquid and I feel like it could either spray a little wider or further out or have a little finer spray. I spent a lot of time spreading out what I had sprayed so it was not pooling. The second thing I noticed was that it hits bumps or the edges of uneven floors pretty easily. While it does go over them I felt like the housing should have a little more ground clearance. The last thing I noticed is that it could use a little more power. I think it needs to be at least a 12 volt not a 9.6 volt. And it needs swappable batteries so you won,t run out of battery before you finish. In the end though when I was finished it did a great job of cleaning the floor but the reservoir that holds the used water filled up before the spray tank ran out and started over flowing on to the floor. I had to stop and empty it the resume cleaning. The idea of it vacuuming while it mops is a great idea that gets the floor really clean. It could just use some improvements in the areas I mentioned previously. I will definitely keep using it and I am excited to get to know it better so I can plan out my sessions with it cleaning one section at a time. Our entire house is hardwood floors so it will take probably three sessions to do it all. Thats okay though because I do not want to it all at once anyway. The Shark Hydro-Duo is like a better version of the Swiffer wet jet and it definitely gets the floor cleaner.

[Rewarded Review] Good cordless sweeper/mop combo from Shark

The Shark HydroDuo is a cordless less vacuum that can clean up floors by both sucking up dry debris and using a spray nozzle and roller brush to mop the floor. Out of the box, assembly is extremely quick. It is basically taking the handle assembly and inserting it into the lower assembly. It is fairly light and has a largely matte gray color scheme. There is a base that charges the Shark HydroDuo, which needs to be plugged into the wall. The instructions said to let the vacuum charge fully the first time before using, so I set it on the plugged-in base, and it was ready for use shortly thereafter. In the charging base, the unit stands 46 inches tall. It is very easy and intuitive to use. There is a water tank on the front that pops off, and I filled it up to a marked line with water and then up to a second line with the included Shark cleaning fluid. I put the water tank back on the vacuum and I was ready. First, I tried using the Shark HydroDuo on dry debris only. There is nothing to do but turn on the unit and start sweeping. It is very easy to sweep; it almost pulls forward slightly with each sweep, but it is also easy to pull back with each sweep. It cleaned debris like hair and dust very well. It was moderately quiet. There is a light near the floor that shines just in front of the unit so that debris is very visible. So there is nothing to do differently or other buttons to push to use the Shark HydroDuo for mopping. There is a trigger in the handle that I depressed to squirt water directly in front of the unit in a fan pattern. Then I just swept like normal and the unit would pick up debris while the roller was loosening wet debris and picking that up, too. So to be clear, the Shark HydroDuo can be used as a vacuum only; just don't use the spray. Or, it can be used as both a vacuum and mop at the same time by utilizing the spray. Once I was done, cleaning up the debris tray was very fast. There is a dry debris tray that is emptied into the trash, and then a wet debris container that can be emptied into the trash or sink. And then all of that, plus the roller brush, can be rinsed out and set out to dry. Regarding the results of my usage. The Shark HydroDuo did an excellent job cleaning dry debris, both when using the sprayer and when not using the sprayer. When it comes to the mopping, the Shark HydroDuo did a decent job of loosening debris but only an average job of pulling up the spray/debris combo 'dirty water' off the floor, especially along wall edges. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker, but I did use a paper towel to dry/clean along the edge of my baseboards where was still a small excess of 'dirty water'. My suggestions is that the unit have slightly stronger water suction, and maybe an interchangeable roller bar with a slightly firmer or more textured surface to help with tougher, dried debris. Overall, I still plan on using the unit on all of my wood and tile floors. The Shark HydroDuo is not for carpet cleaning. It does a great job as a sweeper, and a slightly above average as a mop. It is light, very easy to use and maintain, and I would recommend it for anyone with wood, laminate, or tile floors.

I really want to love it and use it as my main floor cleaning tool but I feel like it's better off as a "spot cleaner". There in lies the problem for me personally. But every time I pull this thing back while spot cleaning, I hear a scratching sound. It' has a rubber "liner" or not sure what you want to call it.. but it's either that or this wheel that retracts / deploys itself when you lift it off the floor. Something under it makes a loud scratching sound almost every time when I pull it back to do another pass over the mess I am trying to clean up. Anyway... I'll share photos of what I am talking about, and the scratch it made. That being said.. it does a decent job at mopping a floor.. but like I said earlier. I don't really feel comfortable mopping a whole floor with this. When I used it to spray cleaning solution on a dusty floor, it just kinda turned it into a bigger mess and smeared it around a bit. The lint / dust stayed stuck on the floor for a bit. So you have to sweep before you use the cleaning solution with this to mop. It does fine picking up bigger things like cereal, food, crumbs and mud chunks, But seems to struggle picking up dust and lint. Therefore, it kind of creates redundancy in my opinion. Because I end up needing to use a broom or a mop to clean up the mess this thing couldn't clean. I like how lightweight this thing is, and that it can spray cleaning solution on the floor.. but it's hard for me to recommend this to my friends or anyone to use for cleaning a whole floor. Perhaps Shark can figure out a way to allow you to put a little elbow grease into it without scratching the floor, and this thing will work better.I typically get excited to try out cleaning tools, anything to help me get chores done more efficiently, but this isn't it.

[Rewarded Review] Nice in open spaces, Vacs and Mops, Self-Propelled
22 November 2024

As a general rule, I really like all of the products I have gotten from Shark/Ninja, giving the vast majority enthusiastic, 5 start reviews. The Shark HydroDuo has some really great, original features, but some misses that I feel could have/should have been executed better. First the good, which this has a LOT of good: #1, what I think is the most unique feature is the light that appears to includes a blacklight, it really illuminates the fine particles that this combination mop/vacuum is going to pick up, particles you otherwise wouldn't even see! #2, another rare feature especially in something this compact is that it is self-propelled, it is absolutely effortless to use as a result. It makes for quick cleanup, which is greatly appreciated. #3 on the "nice" list ... MoreAs a general rule, I really like all of the products I have gotten from Shark/Ninja, giving the vast majority enthusiastic, 5 start reviews. It makes for quick cleanup, which is greatly appreciated. #3 on the "nice" list is the quality of the clean-up. The tank for the liquid you mostly fill with water, and then add a little of the cleaning solution that comes with the machine. You'll get plenty of fills from the cleaning solution, and it really polishes well, as you can see in my photos. It vacuums and mops all at the same time, with separate areas for the solids it vacuums up and the waste liquid. The roller that is the real "secret sauce" for the HydroDuo has a unique combination of texture and absorbency that makes it equally adept at vacuuming and mopping. #4, the ease of cleaning the machine. You simply pinch the 2 tabs to remove the lid, then there's an easy to grab tab to release the roller. Finally, the waste water bin simply pops out, and you can clean it thoroughly in just a few minutes; dumping the vacuum portion, running the roller under water and squeezing out the dirt/grime for that, and then just use a paper towel or rag to clean the rest of it. Easy peasy. Finally, #5, the charging. The HydroDuo comes with a stand that charges the machine while stored out of the way. I really like this feature because it has charging contacts that attach easily; you aren't bending down to locate a power cord to plug in, which is the case for a similarly sized hand held pool vacuum that I have. But, there are a few attributes of the HydroDuo that I feel make it worth subtracting a star. First, the size of the waste water and vacuum compartments are pretty small. I tested the machine around my cat's automatic litter box which was a target rich environment for this machine. After using it on perhaps a 100 square foot area of vinyl plank flooring, as you can see, both waste compartments were pretty much full. I don't have confidence I could use the HydroDuo to clean the 3 connected areas of hard surface in one go without having to stop to empty it; my entry foyer; the home office area, and the kitchen. The 2nd and 3rd things, both related, have to do with the limits of where it can clean as a result of the design. The head of this machine is quite tall and as shown in one of the pictures, could not clean under the lip of my computer desk. And then, the area between the roller and the sides of the machine make it impossible to clean within about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of walls, furniture, etc. If I were engineering this machine, I would use a spinner such as what you see on many robotic vacuums, perhaps made from microfiber or some other material that could dampen itself first so it could remove dirt and mop all the way to the walls and under obstructions. With that feature, they could make the head unit a bit larger and able to hold more waste between times when the unit needs to be emptied/cleaned.Overall though, the positives outweigh the negatives by a comfortable margin, and I feel a 4 star grade is warranted.

[Rewarded Review] Nice sweeper/mop for a quick clean. Saves time.
20 November 2024

I have been using this for 5 days now and so far I really like it. It is very effective at cleaning the hard surface floors in my home. I have vinyl, wood, and tile in my home and the HydroDuo does wonders cleaning all of them. I especially like the Debris Illumination Light, which is very helpful finding the small hidden dust and particles on the floor. To fully test the HydroDuo, I first used the dry sweeper to pickup all of the hair, dirt, and food particles from the floor. It worked really well on all of the different surfaces. However, cleaning in tight corners, against baseboards, and under the stove/refrigerator it just doesn't have the suction to pull dirt out. So, I still needed to use a duster. My floors weren't terribly dirty, so I could do my kitchen, entry way, and 3 bathrooms without filling the particle receptacle.Next I filled the cleaning solution tank and mopped all of the same floors. The HydroDuo cleaned really well here too and it was so much easier than using a regular mop. The Debris Illumination Light helped here too because I could easily see what areas I already covered. Also, with the Brush Roller, it picked up a lot of the water, so my floors dried a lot quicker. However, I did have to empty the wet receptacle several times and I had to refill the Cleaning Solution Tank once. Since it was my first time using this, I may have used more water/cleaning solution than I needed. But, it still had plenty of battery charge left (50% +/-) when I finished.Overall, I feel the Shark HydroDuo is very easy to assemble and to use. It does a very good job sweeping and cleaning my floors that is noticeable. At $149, I feel the price is a very good value for regular weekly cleaning of my hard surface flooring. I did find the Cleaning Solution refills for $19.99 for 1 liter of solution, which I feel is a little expensive. Lastly, I feel the only downsides are the wet receptacle is small if you are cleaning large areas and that it doesn't get corners and under appliances or furniture very well. I also feel this would make a great gift, especially for someone on-the-go a lot or an elderly person with limited mobility.

[Rewarded Review] Perfect solution for small to midsize floors!
16 November 2024

As a parent of a 6-month-old baby girl who has just recently started crawling up a storm, is enjoying her infant-led weaning on soft foods, and likes lobbing globs of food like they are grenades, I have been desperate for a cleaning solution that keeps our kitchen and dining room (and my sanity) intact. The Shark HydroDuo has come in to save the day! It offers some of my favorite features of our Dyson V15 Detect Submarine Vacuum and Mop combo at nearly a 10th of the cost, all with the convenience of being a vacuum and mop in one and not having to switch out the attachments to fulfill either role.Unboxing and Setup:As usual with their cleaning implements, Shark has made the setup and use of this hydro duo an absolute breeze. They have handy instructions printed right on the box when you open it, but they also have a booklet included for more detailed instructions as well as clean up and maintenance of the device. I found I was able to set up the vacuum intuitively; there were so few parts needing to be attached out of the box, and none could be mixed up by my reckoning. Once I had the vacuum set up, I plugged in the charging and storage tray and placed the vacuum on there as the battery was completely drained from the factory and needed a complete top-up before use. This is probably best from a battery calibration standpoint. I also filled up the cleaning fluid tank and was pleasantly surprised to see that they included a bottle of concentrate that looks like it will last for at least six full tank clean-ups! More Shark Hydro brand cleaning fluid concentrate with a volume per the marketing that will last about 19 cleanups is available for around 19 dollars or so online from various sources.First-time use:One of the best parts of this Shark HydroDuo versus the Dyson Detect vacuum model is that the dirt reveal light works for both vacuuming AND mopping. My wife and I have stated aloud to each other that we wish we had a better way of seeing the stubborn stains and grit on the kitchen and dining room floor while mopping the same way our detect V15 shows dirt with its fluffy head cleaner. Well, Shark has done that for you here! Putting this to advantage, I first diligently vacuumed up as much dry material as I could see without using the sprayer. Shark advises that you first vacuum up dry debris as much as possible before using the sprayer for best performance. Logically, that just makes sense, and I followed that recommendation to the best of my ability. The vacuum and mop overall did excellent for us. The vacuum was able to vacuum up all the pesky debris and detritus that builds up in our busy daily workweek lives, even (for the most part) my wife’s 3-foot-long curly hairs that she sheds like a husky! The mop with the handy included quick dry fluid to mix into the tank was excellent at getting even some of the more petrified food stains and kitchen messes cleaned up and it generally did really well performing a fairly in depth clean of the floor. When the wet is added into the equation with this mop, though, the drawbacks of the roller system manifest: what was left of my wife’s long hairs got gummed up and wrapped around the roller, and there were definitely a few clumps that ended up just being pushed around and had to be picked up by hand. Admittedly, long human hair is a major challenge for all but the most expensive cleaning appliances, so I do not consider this a major demerit against the Shark HydroDuo.Cleaning up the Shark was intuitive and easy. The dry bin gets dumped in the trash, the dirty water bin gets rinsed and put out to dry, the roller gets cleaned off and placed upright on the storage/charging station in its handy, specially designed drying spot. It was cleaning the roller that made us realize just how severe the spin up of long hairs was, but we weren’t too flustered about it.All in all, I think this Shark Hydro Duo, for its intended price and use cases, gets a solid 5 out of 5. This is the perfect solution for small to mid-size dwellings with sealed hardwood, tile, and linoleum-type flooring that needs good maintenance of both vacuuming and cursory mopping. I just wouldn’t quite throw away your traditional mop, bucket, and broom if you are a person who likes a super deep clean and feels the need to do it the manual way once in a while for a true deep clean. Thanks for reading and hope this interview helps you out!

[Rewarded Review] Shark Has Done It Again!
19 November 2024

This is the second Shark cordless product that we have and I have to say that Shark has done it again. This HyrdoDuo is a game changer. We have all hardwood floors in our home and we use a robotic vacuum (also by Shark) that we have programmed to clean everyday. We use now us this for spot cleaning + this is basically a mop.I love the fact that this is a cordless stick vacuum, as our other Shark is. The battery is very efficient and will clean our entire 2400 sq ft home. This vacuum also allows you to get under tables, and some furniture. I like the fact that Shark has made this model a lot lighter in weight that our older model which is impressive because its still very powerful. It has a lot to offer as well, a light that allows you to see what is actually on ... MoreThis is the second Shark cordless product that we have and I have to say that Shark has done it again. It comes w/ a mount that also houses some of the attachments, and allows you to store it. The canister that collects the dirt can be removed and cleaned, it also comes w/ a bottle of concentrate cleaner. You do have to assemble which is a breeze. This vacuum can be used everyday to spot clean spills, or just like a normal stick vacuum, or mop and clean at the same time. I also like the feature of the spray. This is a very well made, lightweight stick vacuum that is very powerful.I would recommend this product.

[Rewarded Review] What A Great Tile and Linoleum Floor Cleaner!
19 November 2024

The Shark HydroDuo Cordless Wet/Dry with Dirt-Reveal Floor Cleaner rocks! I was skeptical at first as it was so easy to assemble, lightweight and the head cleaning unit is small. The floor cleaner only takes a couple of minutes to assemble once it is out of the box and should be fully charged before using it for the first time.Once charged, their is a liquid fill container to which you simply add water to the water fill-line then add a bit of Shark Hydro Multi-Surface Concentrate to the concentrate fill-line. The concentrate enables fast drying, streak-free cleaning with no sticky residue and neutralizes any floor odors that may exist. A 16 ounce "Spring Clean" bottle is only $12.99 at Best Buy.As our house is 3500+ sf, I thought I would have to refill the water ... MoreThe Shark HydroDuo Cordless Wet/Dry with Dirt-Reveal Floor Cleaner rocks! I first went over the hard floors to dry clean it before scrubbing it. I then went back over it wet cleaning it. I still had lots of water and concentrate left after a full dry and half wet floor cleaning before I ran out of power. While I was at first skeptical, I am now impressed! The Shark HydroDuo floor cleaner does a great job and its Dirt-Reveal Technology (bright light affixed to the front of the floor cleaner) shows up all the dirt, dust, hair and other detritus our prior cleaning last week left behind. This front light is quite incredible and allows you to see the dirt you may have missed.I am now sold on the Shark HydroDuo With Dirt Reveal Technology that I highly recommend it to you! This floor cleaner is a star!
