I had been looking at these for a while. I have a shark hoover and ninja kitchen items, which are all fantastic. The price made me a little reluctant but after my trusty Remington hairdryer died I decided to take the plunge and treat myself (I have children so this is a rarity!). Plus I spread the cost with PayPal over 3 months. It has a long lead so thereâs no messing around with trying to reach a plug. The diffuser and other bits clip on really easily and thereâs a lock button to release them. This is really handy as youâre not trying to thread them on. The power of the hairdryer is incredible (much like my shark hoover!) and has really helped cut down drying time with my hair, which is like a sponge and retains water when wet.In all honesty I think this hairdryer has ruined me for all other hairdryers. I bought another hairdryer for my daughters at the same time (no way were they using my fancy shark one!). It just pales in comparison to this one.As my Dad always says, you get what you pay for. This is definitely the case for this hairdryer.

I bought this hairdryer around 4 weeks ago now and have used it twice so far.I was impressed at how quickly the hairdryer dries my hair and was excited to try out the attachments. I was disappointed that I had to buy the comb separately as I note with dyson the comb comes as a standard as part of the hairdryer and attachments, but luckily I had a discount on both the hairdryer and the comb which worked out to a price I was satisfied with. You do have to change the angle of the attachments quite often as you move around your head. The only slight negative I have is why is the comb attachment already at an angle? It doesn't need to be. It should have just been angled straight as in my opinion it kind of makes it a bit awkward to get to different parts of your head ... MoreI bought this hairdryer around 4 weeks ago now and have used it twice so far.I was impressed at how quickly the hairdryer dries my hair and was excited to try out the attachments. It should have just been angled straight as in my opinion it kind of makes it a bit awkward to get to different parts of your head with the comb already angled. Also, after first use of the brush attachment, I feel that the bristles have spread out a bit and look freyed already.I think the next attachment I'll be getting is the rounded brush as I feel I would use that a lot.To sum up, I've come from using a basic hairdryer bought from the hair shop that cost around £25, 10 years ago and its still going, but I decided to upgrade my hair styling routine to try out a fancy hairdryer. Although I have used it a couple of times now I am happy with how well it dries my hair and makes it feel smooth
I have curly hair which is type 2c/3a and prone to frizz. It will dry straight but with lots of work, so I tend to wear it curly unless I am having a blow out at the hairdressers. Iâve used the Dyson dryer for about 6 years now, I have the GHD Helios which I used for a period also, so I was interested to see how the Shark would compare. This hairdryer looks stylish, I love the white colour. The attachments are easy to attach and remove. There is an indicator which lights up when an attachment is connected, and the dryer adjusts the heat and speed settings according to the attachment, although you can adjust these yourself between the three heat/speed settings available. It is lightweight- the attachments do add some weight to it, but it still feels nice in the hand, and I didnât get a wrist ache when using it.The first attachment I tried was the QuickSmooth brush and unfortunately this didnât work too well for me. I found it hard to grip my hair enough to create the tension which is required for my hair type to achieve a sleek blow dry. I followed it up with the RapidGloss Finisher which was lovely to use and visibly tamed some flyways, but as the initial blow dry hadnât been smooth enough for me, it wasnât enough to achieve a sleek look.However- I then tried these attachments on my 14-year-old daughter who has hair which is not as curly as mine and they worked so well, giving her a smooth blow out but with volume and keeping the ends looking healthy. Now on to my favourite attachment- the diffuser. This did blow me away! It is fairly large (compared to the Dyson) and the shape is great for gathering the hair into it without bits falling out as you lift it to the roots. It has prongs which are retractable- I found they âgrabbedâ my hair when holding the dryer at my roots which really helped to achieve volume. The holes on the diffuser go all the way to the edges which seemed to help with an even airflow distribution. I used this on the recommended settings of low speed and low heat, using the cool shot at the end and it dried my hair quickly- it took 15 minutes, and I was left with shiny and defined curls!Iâd say the sound of this is comparable with the Dyson- fairly quiet and quieter than the GHD Helios.Overall, despite the straightening attachments not working well on my hair type, I am really impressed with this hairdryer for the diffuser alone and will be using this as my go to for diffusing! I would love to try a concentrator nozzle with it to see if I can achieve a straight look on my hair with that technique. I wish I had got this sooner!
I have very thick, curly and frizzy hair and struggle to get it completely dry with a hair dryer. The Shark speed style is incredible from start to finish with great speed in drying but also reducing the level of frizziness at the same time. After using the Brush application it had finished the drying process but also given it a good level of straightness helping to reduce the time needed with my straighteners by half. I then I finished my hair using the rapid gloss finisher and was absolutely blown away by the salon finish it had created. The whole process from wet hair to straight was twenty minutes and that is a record time with my hair. I have praised this to everyone around me and have encouraged quite a few to purchase this. The product is quite, effective, fast and will be saving me lots of money by not having to visit hairdressers for salon blow dry. I received the shark speedstyle yesterday and couldnât wait to test it out. I have wavy/frizzy hair that gets very knotty so if I want frizz free hair I have to blowdry and then go over with straighteners which is a lot of heat to use.I was amazed at how soft and smooth this has left my hair! I dried my hair 80% without any attachments on the end, then I used the Quicksmooth brush.. I was shocked that I managed to use this without it getting stuck in my hair or making it more knotty as Iâve always struggled with heated hairbrushes getting through it without pulling. This gave me brilliant volume as well, using the heat and then the cold shot to lock the volume in place.I then used the Rapidgloss finisher all over my hair which I really didnât need to use as my ... MoreI received the shark speedstyle yesterday and couldnât wait to test it out. This gave me brilliant volume as well, using the heat and then the cold shot to lock the volume in place.I then used the Rapidgloss finisher all over my hair which I really didnât need to use as my hair was already silky smooth but wow this gave it like a sheen appearance. It took me less than 5 minutes to completely dry and style my hair which is incredible as Iâm constantly having to stop to brush my hair as it gets so knotty.I still canât believe how amazing, soft and smooth my hair looks without even using products or straightening it. Iâve never had this before.Another con was it wasnât too loud, my son is 3 and hates the sound of normal hairdryers but he was absolutely fine with me using this. The wire was also really long which is great if you have no plug sockets close to the mirror.I also like the fact there is a button so you can twist the Quicksmooth brush around a different way rather than taking it off completely and reattaching it.Iâm yet to try out the diffuser on myself but I tried it on my mum who has lovely curls but they end up with her looking like Hagrid if she doesnât diffuse them. She was shocked by how nice her hair looked after using this on her this morning, she said she hasnât seen her hair look that nice and defined in a long time! This is definitely a thumbs up from both of us & my 3 year old (sound wise).I canât think of any negatives with this product after using each attachment. You wonât regret buying this product and neither will your hair by the condition it will leave it in!
While it looks more like a traditional hairdryer, and not the air-compounding styles that have been popular in recent years⊠it packs-in modern technology to accurately control air temperatures to prevent damage, independent buttons for temperature and air speed, includes great styling accessories, and achieves the lightest offering in its category today. Nice.Use: As you'd expect, it works a lot like any hair dryer, but includes independent heat and speed settings, easily viewed at a glance via the LED lights on their buttons. It also offers a Cool Shot button on the front of the handle (like a trigger) which very effectively pauses the heat to allow you to cool your hair. Hair can't get clogged in this model either, as the rear inlet has a removable filter screen, ensuring the internals don't get damaged. All is well considered and easy to use.Compact: While the nozzle on this model is a bit longer than some other designs, the overall diameter of it and its handle is on the small side (~1.75â), making it easy to store this in a drawer. Youâll have to work around a somewhat bulky cable and plug, but itâs still compact, lays flat, and ready to pull out for anyone at a momentâs notice.Aesthetics: Hairdryers have gotten flashier in recent years, with some in deep purples or bright metallic pinks. This model strikes a more subtle, classy direction. While itâs mostly white, it has faceted details along the nozzle w/ chrome and rose gold tinted accents and buttons. It comes across as tasteful and slightly feminine.Accessories: This model comes with three accessories, with another three available for optional purchase. Each accessory clicks onto the front of the nozzle by inserting into a circular channel and a small rotation to lock it into place. The mechanism seems durable and should hold up. Shark advertises the RapidGloss Finisher as the primary attachment here, promising to help shine your hair as you pull it gently down under and arc of hot air and warm metal strips. It also includes a flat turbo concentrator and âquick smooth brushâ with is intended for brushing your hair straight while drying. Most of these features are intended to help straighten hair or control frizz. Theyâre well designed and appear to help in both drying and their intended roles, nicely combining a few steps and saving time.Overall, this is a great compact hair dryer. Itâs light and compact, and because of that, makes a good case for making all of the attachments manageable. It converts a simple (but modern, digital, heat-monitoring dryer) into a tool to quickly straighten and manage hair while drying. Anyone would appreciate an upgrade to a dryer like this.

Each of those setting levels are annunciated by small LED lamps above the icons on the Temperature Button and the Airflow Button. Directly below the Temperature and Airflow buttons is the slide type On/Off power switch. My wife and I both found it somewhat inconvenient for those control buttons to be located on the rear of the dryerâs handle, near the bottom. The controls cannot be manipulated during operation of the dryer using the same hand which is holding the dryer. Adjustment of the controls is a two-handed operation. The Cool Shot button however, is conveniently located on the front of the handle, where it is easily depressed by the same hand which holds the dryer. There is also an âIQâ Styler Attachment Indicator which illuminates when a styling attachment is latched onto the front nozzle of the dryer.Accessory attachments supplied with the RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer include a RapidGloss Finisher which uses Coanda Technology to attract hair to the Finisher to smooth hair. The Coanda Effect refers to an aerodynamic characteristic whereby a fast-moving jet of air âattachesâ to a surface. The high velocity airflow of the SpeedStyle effectively wraps hair around the RapidGloss Finisher and maintains tension on the hair to smooth away âfrizziesâ.Also included is a QuickSmooth Brush attachment with two bristle types to simultaneously dry, volumize and smooth hair. The final attachment in this package is a Turbo Concentrator, for directing and concentrating the powerful airflow of the Shark SpeedStyle for fast drying and styling. All attachments securely anchor in place using a small rotation which interlocks the plastic cam pins and latches with an audible click. Attachments are quickly and easily released by the sliding Lock button on the bottom side of the upper housing. When installed on the dryer, the Turbo Concentrator rotates freely, while the QuickSmooth Brush has a copper color button on the side to release an internal latch to allow rotation of the brush to the desired angle/position.Shark also offers optional attachments including a Defrizz Fast Diffuser, an Express Touchup Brush and a Lift & Stretch Wide-Tooth Comb, all of which are sold separately. The SpeedStyle is equipped with an exceptionally long, heavy-duty power cord, spanning 8â-5â. The cord is equipped with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for user safety (as required by law), and is apparently also protected by a fusible link. All of the connections on the power cord are equipped with robust strain relief. The maximum wattage of the FlexStyle is 1700 watts, which equates to a significant 14.2 amp electrical load.A very significant benefit of the Shark SpeedStyle is that it virtually eliminates the likelihood of damaging hair due to excessive heat, according to the manufacturer. The SpeedStyle is designed to precisely monitor and regulate temperature by measuring and adjusting temperature 1,000 times per second. The SpeedStyle accurately maintains temperature that is consistent, rather than widely fluctuating which can result in hair being exposed to excessively high temperatures and incurring damage. The. Temperature is never supposed to exceed 230° F and should never even approach the 302° F hair damaging temperature.I measured the SpeedStyle output at 6â from the nozzle. On the Low setting the temperature was approximately 140° F, on the Medium setting it was approximately 160°-165° F and on the High setting the temperature measured approximately 180°-185° F.The air velocity discharged by the SpeedStyle is very powerful. Of course, the unit produces noise when in operation, but even at the High speed airflow setting, the motor noise of the SpeedStyle was not uncomfortably loud, as some other hair-blowers typically are.My wife has used a great many hair styling tools and appliances throughout the years. She was very anxious to start using the Shark SpeedStyle to determine if it would actually improve upon her hair styling tasks, reduce the effort and burden, and produce superior results. My wife reviewed the printed Shark SpeedStyle Styling Guide which is included in the package, consulted the FAQs on the Shark website, and watched several Shark SpeedStyle videos on the Shark website prior to using the SpeedStyle for the first time.My wife really likes the Shark SpeedStyle. She loves how light weight and comfortable to hold it is. She was âblown awayâ by how powerful the airflow is on the high speed setting. She likes the SpeedStyle attachments and appreciates how easily and quickly they can be attached, adjusted or removed/changed. My wife is really enjoying the RapidGloss Finisher attachment which helps with reducing frizzy hair. The IQ feature of the SpeedStyle is very unique and helpful. Each SpeedStyle attachment has a unique profile molded into the collar section which attaches to the nozzle of the SpeedStyle Dryer. When the mechanical interlock connection is made, the SpeedStyle dryer ârecognizesâ which attachment has been installed, and automatically sets the Temperature setting and Airflow setting to a pre-programmed combination which is intended to be optimal for the use of that particular attachment. However, those predefined settings can be overridden by simply depressing one of the buttons to manually change Temperature or Airflow. When the SpeedStyle is operating with one of the IQ presets, the IQ lamp on the SpeedStyle is illuminated. If a change is made by the user to Temperature or Airflow, the IQ lamp is extinguished. The IQ feature worked properly most of the time, but we did find that on occasion after changing the attachment the SpeedStyle did not recognize the new attachment and stayed in manual mode with the IQ lamp off. Dismounting and remounting the attachment always corrected that problem, with the SpeedStyle using the IQ setting on the second attempt. Both of us were also very impressed with how much helpful guidance information Shark has made available for users. The printed, glossy âStyling Guideâ which is included in the box with the SpeedStyle has step-by-step, photo illustrated guidance for the use of each attachment and the benefits for using each of them for their particular best styling purpose. There is also a Safety, Warranty and Troubleshooting booklet included in the box. That booklet also contains complete operating instructions, maintenance and cleaning instructions and error codes. Each section of the Guide also includes a QR Code which leads to very helpful, professionally produced demonstration videos. Shark also has a webpage dedicated to their complete collection of Shark SpeedStyle videos, including a demonstration of how to clean and maintain the SpeedStyle. My wife really appreciated being able to see demonstrations of how to achieve the best results using the SpeedStyle. They made it much easier to actually get the desired hair style. The SpeedStyle appears to be well-built of high-quality plastic materials with a solid feel. The SpeedStyle is comfortable and easy to use given the unitâs compact dimensions and light weight. The SpeedStyle weighs only approximately 1.7 lbs, and measures approximately 6.5â long x slightly less than 8â tall. We thought that it was pretty amazing how powerful and effective the compact SpeedStyle is.The rear of the horizontal section of the SpeedStyle has a perforated screen cap, which covers an internal air filter. The filter cover is easily removable with a quick twist and exposes the internal filter for cleaning with a toothbrush or other soft brush. The internal filter is also removable and washable with a weak solution of water and liquid dish detergent. Shark even produced a video demonstrating the correct procedure for accessing and cleaning the filter, which is an important part of maintaining the SpeedStyle in proper operating condition. The SpeedStyle is covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, however if Shark replaces the unit, a fee (disclosed in the printed warranty provisions included in the box) is assessed when the replacement or exchange unit is shipped.Overall, we both think that the Shark SpeedStyle RapidGloss Finisher & High Velocity Dryer is really great. It is a powerful blow-dryer for styling and hair drying. It is compact and lightweight and easy to use without tiring. A big plus is eliminating the heat damage that is virtually impossible to avoid with many conventional blow-dryers.
So from my name I don't exactly have the lustrous locks that can really take advantage of this so I had to enlist the help of my wife to help with this review. So just physically, this looks quite a bit nicer than other products, but more than that there are some practical differences too. The cord is long, which is really nice and the cord is also a bit thicker and seems to resist tangling in a knot better than her other tools. All this leads to an easy to hold and use product. It is also quieter than any hair dryers we have owned in the past or present (besides this one). There is a light on the handle that lights up to notify that settings are correct or default and then turns red when they aren't default, the default settings are also the settings that she ... MoreSo from my name I don't exactly have the lustrous locks that can really take advantage of this so I had to enlist the help of my wife to help with this review. So just physically, this looks quite a bit nicer than other products, but more than that there are some practical differences too. It is also quieter than any hair dryers we have owned in the past or present (besides this one). There is a light on the handle that lights up to notify that settings are correct or default and then turns red when they aren't default, the default settings are also the settings that she prefers for almost all her use cases, so it is really useful to just glance and know it is all good. The default settings automatically select the fan speed and temperature and are also done per accessory. The attachments are quick and easy to detach and attach, the brush was easy once the rotate button was found on the side. The hairbrush gave her hair volume and made it easy to style while tryingThe hair blower was nice, but she didn't really notice a benefit of this besides of course that it would be terrible if it wasn't included. The rapid gloss finisher was by far her favorite. There are stickers on the device itself with easy instructions and by using it she didn't have to straighten her hair with a flat iron as the rapid gloss finisher did an excellent job calming her frizz and flattening her hair. She absolutely loves that she can calm and straighten her hair now in 10 min compared to 30 min with a traditional straight iron. Her only thought, not even really a concern is that she didn't see how the standard setting had no heat damage at all as claimed as it set the heat pretty high. Now comparing it to a standard flat iron the potential damage can easily be seen to be considerably less so this was more of a comment than a concern. The only other con is that it didn't come with the defuzer, as she would really like to try that, we had to order it off of the shark website directly as the accessory isn't on best buy.So all in all, the only two concerns aren't really concerns, she loves everything about this and has already recommended it to a few friends.
