I've hated how quickly dust accmulated on surfaces in my home. After a bad case of allergy, I decided to buy a air purifier. My main concern was the noise generated by air purifiers. After an extensive research on the Internet, I decided to go with the Sharp KC850U, and it didn't disappoint. It is super quite--I leave it in the bedroom and I can barely hear it except the occational "gulp" it makes when it draws water from the water tank. It is also great that it automatically adjusts fan speed based on its assessment of air quality. It also automatically adjusts how much water to release into the air based on humidity. After using the unit for over a month, I can definitely tell that dust accumlates much slower on surfaces in my bedroom. Less cleaning for me!

This combo unit has helped us tremendously. We are sleeping better and waking up in much better condition in the morning. The air in our bedroom is fresher and moisturized which is also helping us breathe better. Thanks.

The air purifier works great! I was amazed after trimming it on and the coming back to the room several hours later to find how cleans the air smelled. The purifier is very quiet on low. On high it is lows but not annoyingly loud. We have slept with it on high.The one thing I do not car for in the design is that it pulls air from the back and pushes it out the top toward the back as well. You cannot put it against the wall which makes it harder to place in a room and not be in the way or look out of place.The quality of the product is fantastic.

I love this machine! I searched for what seemed like an eternity for an air purifier but couldn't find one I liked, and I was also looking for a humidifier. We use this one is our large master bedroom and have been running it nonstop for a couple of months now. The first day after using it my husband commented he couldn't smell that lingering dog smell anymore so that was a great sign. You can turn the lights off so you don't get a glare at night, and the beep that lets you know it's out of water. Instead there is a little light that will flash red when it's out of water. It will keep purifying the air if it runs out of water which is nice. I use the ionizer option generally during the day when the bedroom door is left open. I did have to read through the directions on cleaning the filters when you get the notification that they need cleaned as it's a multi-filter machine, but it's pretty easy to do really. We have hard water and it does build up inside but if you follow the directions, it cleans easily enough. I haven't checked yet on replacement prices for the filters but we did buy the extended warranty. The only real downside is filling the tank. It's not the smallest one I've used, but it's not large and depending on how dry your air is, you may need to fill it twice a day. There have been many times though that it has lasted 2 or 3 days. The tank pulls out very easily and it's easy to put back, however, as is often the case, it's slippery because the outside is smooth plastic to match the rest of the purifier design, and you have to hold it upright while you fill it because it does not have a flat bottom. I'm usually the one to fill it up; I believe my husband would have a difficult time holding on to it and filling it because of his RA. It's not much of an issue, but it might be something some people would need to work around somehow (maybe by adding grip tape to the sides). So far it's far exceeded my expectations and is far superior to others I've been looking at or could find.

So I have backwards so the intake is facing towards the air of my room vs just the wall area But than I can't read the Monitor Displays. Its not super strong but its noticeable and I can feel how people with Asthma or other sensitivity can find this bad. You still have to perform maintenance. Very good! When on low, you need to check the lights to see if it is working. It is that silent! Only thing is that when you use it with the humidifier function it takes up water from the tank at distinct times (not continuously), and that makes a little noisy sound. You can not set the humidity level separately, it changes with the fan speed only. When it blows, you feel like it is a little bit cool air, not so great in winter, but would be nice in summer. The room really smells very nice after the device runs for some time.
Very nice, you can switch from humidify/clean to just clean a nice feature for us at night since it likes to gurgle a bit. I like you can turn off display at night but a couple little lights are still on, on the top. Not a real issue since I just cover them with magic marker. Easy to fill, lasts us about 36 hours. Kind of a pain to clean but I guess most of them are. You need to let it run dry then dump out remaining water otherwise it could get messy.
Great air purifier. Ultra-quiet and great looking streamlined design for such a big unit. Control features are easy and intuitive to use and the feedback display shows air quality and filtration effectiveness. Ability to dim the feedback display is a nice added feature.Only disappointment is the humidifier function does not provide adequate humidity to the room. It's great that it does provide some as it filters the air but it does not provide enough. WE do not live in a particularly dry part of the country and the heat rarely runs in our home. There are no controls to increase humidity setting-- only switching the feature on or off.Solid product and happy with the job it does quietly purifying the air in our master bedroom all while looking good.
we have been using Sharp humidifier for years and like them. this one is also good, working fine as expected. Only issue to watch is that the water holder, for lack of proper name for it, holds one gallon water. For folks older than 70s, it may feel a little heavy.
