I've been a fan of Shimano Baitrunners for ever, and this latest purchase continues to impress. I use the baitrunner feature in all my fishing as I feel it really helps with hookups. This is a reel that represents good value for money, it's drag system is very smooth.

I wanted a new cheapie as a knockabout whiting reel. This should fit the bill nicely. I look forward to doing a couple of basic upgrades to the bushes, drag, saltwater proofing. Looks and feels like bait runner reliability. Heavy reel for size, plastic spool not alloy. If its like the other ones Ive owned itll get a flogging hopefully with a bit of basic maintenance to keep it for years to come.

Having read reviews for this reel, and the fact I wanted to try a smaller one of this type I felt this was the one to get. Its neat, very well made, very smooth, and a lot less clumpy than the usual bait runners I've tried. The free spool feature you can really get to be very loose which even the most cautious bites will be hard pressed to feel. All in all a great little reel at a great price.
Used twice now and very happy with reel, will catch most fish and decent size carp
I'm far from being a match angler, I just sit on the bank enjoying being outside, but this reel suits me very well. I've got two now paired with two Shimano 10ft rods and they make for a very pleasurable session. Well made, very smooth and for the money I think they're terrific value.
Excellent for travelling light
Excellent addition to my 40+ other Shimano reels. The 4000 size is perfectly weighted to my 10ft quiver tip feeder rods, but would sit nicely on 11ft or 12ft rods as well. The construction is solid, the finish is simple and flawless and the overall build gives the impression of a reel that is intended for hard use, especially given the fact that feeder fishing is not the cleanest of fishing dissiplines.
Excellent reel in every way. The delivery was even great at the speed which i received it. The price was unbelieveable.
