Perfect brake for my kids bike, replacing an aged avid. Easy fit and usual Shimano 'just works' . I love the simple bleed port on these brakes that is so easy to use. It's not the most powerful brake but for a light rider and on the back it is more than enough.

Great brakes (amazing for the price actually) but one thing lets them down. The rear of the levers is not quite smooth enough. They are made from folded thinnish metal and when my fingers brush past them when changing position from brake lever to the handlebar grips it's not a great feeling. My previous brake levers (Tektro Auriga Comp) were silky smooth all over, in spite of also being entry level brakes. I don't know how these MT200s compare to other Shimano brake levers but I'll probably investigate and upgrade sooner rather than later if other ones are thicker and smoother at the rear.

Great product. I bled the brakes a little after I installed them, but not absolutely necessary. There were a few bubbles that came out, but they were functional before and after. Great price. I just needed some cheap, hydraulic brakes for a dirt jumper, and these worked out well. Cable length is plenty long for my needs.

Exactly what I needed. Replaced cable style brakes with these hydraulic brakes on my son’s bike and they are a huge improvement. They come pre-bled so they are pretty much an install and go swap. The hoses are extra long so you will likely have to either loop the cable once or twice in the front or shorten them, but just looping them with a couple of cable ties works fine. The stopping power is vastly improves. My bike has dual piston XT brakes and these certainly are not up to that level, but they are really solid brakes that provide ample stopping power at a great price. Incidentally, I weigh 225 pounds and have no issues at all with stopping effectiveness with these. In my opinion these are a great value.
GT Aggressor Pro hardtail. Replacement for mechanical brakes. I mostly ride flow trails. A few steep downhill trails once in a while, but nothing too crazy. For my needs, they work great. Installation was simple, but I had to get a few special tools (Cable cutter and bleed kit). Make sure you bed your pads and discs before going to the trails. You start feeling them biting harder on the discs after a few rides.
I purchased these because I’ve been running them on my cargo bike for over a year. I use them with 180mm rotors. They have excellent stopping power and modulation. Bleeding them is easy. Great fit and finish to the parts and super consistency. I thought about speccing higher level parts for my rigid mountain bike but went with these again because there’s just no downside to them.
I purchased these to upgrade cable-actuated disc calipers on a kid's 24" bike. My son was complaining about the cable-actuated discs and how hard he had to pull to get stopped like he wanted to. I tried bedding in the pads and rotors, adjusting the cables, caliper position, etc. and the brake power and lever feel were still terrible. Decided to upgrade to these affordable hydraulics (BR-MT201) front and rear. Night and day difference, especially after bedding in pads. Adjustable reach lever makes it easier to position the lever for easy one or two finger braking for my son. Much lighter finger pressure required for power with better modulation when needed. It's made a noticeable difference to the speed that my son will carry into a corner before ... MoreI purchased these to upgrade cable-actuated disc calipers on a kid's 24" bike. I used the existing rotors, so the brakes were my only cost.Arguably pricey for a kid's bike upgrade (especially if you have to have someone else install it), but I feel it was worth it to improve my son's experience. Build those positive memories!
Replaced my mechanical brakes with the Shimano BR-MT200 hydraulic brake set. Way stronger stopping power. These brakes bolted up perfectly. Love this set up very inexpensive.
I bought these for my old bike I rarely use. There were no instructions in the box, you have to search on-line and not easy to find. I resorted to U-Tube. Easy enough to install, but the cable is too long. Wrapped mine around cables. To shorten it you need tool that cost $100 bucks. Now that its installed, the wheel turns but not that freely. Without instructions, I don't know how to adjust it. The price was right and it works, but it could be more user friendly.
I'm a fussy guy and find that this brake system has met all of my needs, especially when combined with Shimano's Ice Tech rotors. I use it on my flat bar gravel/road bike and find it fully adequate for quiet, smooth braking on steep declines that I have bombed down at 40 mph. It's everything I need and am, thus, very satisfied.
