Shimano CS-HG50 8-speed Cassette - 12-25T
Hyperglide sprockets have a computer designed tooth configuration with contoured shift gates, resulting in a crisp smooth shift even under load. Close ratio gearing allows a more efficient use of energy through finer cadence control. Sprockets are cut away to further reduce weight without reducing rigidity. Nickel-plated finish offers hard wearing resistance to corrosion. Corrosion-resistant steel cassette lockring. For Narrow 8-speed HG chains.

This replaces like-for-like the cassette on my tandem. One of the three rivets holding the sprockets together was missing, which meant two rather than three protruding heads on the back - which prevented the cassette sitting flat against the flange on the carrier. Resolved with a flat file so no matter, but: we expect better attention to detail from Shimano, and in any case it's not very satisfactory that those rivet-heads should interfere with the carrier flange, even if there were three. Minor point - mostly, I'm delighted that Shimano continues to make 8-speed spares!

Arrived very quickly as is usually the case with Tredz. Well packaged and in good condition. Using with Claris groupset and waxed KMC chain. Working nicely. Looks much nicer than the original cassette on the bike.

I stuck this casette onto my new DT Swiss PR 1800 rear wheel that I bought to speed up my Specialized Tricross. I needed 1 spacer (to allow the wheel to accept the 8 speed Shimano CS-HG50 8). I have done about 200Km this week on it and the result was a marked improvement in gear changing, with no slipping, and a better and quicker rides.

If you're partial to 7-speed cassettes like I am, you will love this combination of close ratio sprockets. There are no big jumps in gear ratios which make you pedal too slow or too fast. It's not the fastest set up nor is it for the steepest climbs. It has a slightly lower bottom gear than the 13-28 cassette which I call the "Goldilocks" cassette and is ideal for the more hilly terrains for recreational use on rail-trails, suburban streets or back roads. When you want to ride your 26" or 700c wheeled bike in a relaxed mode, this is the one to get. Or you could do what I did and buy both of them. The price for each is low and the quality is excellent.
Swapped out 11-34 (HG31) with 12-25 (HG50) on a hybrid bike which delivers a much smoother gear change as the ratios are a constant +2 increment from 13-25 and I can better use the full range of gears. Given 16 speed bike then also OK on hills and not missing the 34. Great cassette, the HG50 12-25 seems to be happiest with a Shimano chain (HG40).
After my chain snapped, I replaced it but it kept slipping every time I changed gears.I have been REALLY struggling to source a Shimano HG-50 8 spd cassette. I was told that it was due to the pandemic and the subsequent factory closures.Anyway, I decided to order a SRAM replacement instead but was really pleasantly surprised to be sent a Shimano one instead. The item was despatched within hours and delivered within 48 hours. Great service guys. Thank you
Original 8 Speed Cassette, arrived on time in original packaging. Though the lock nut and the small cog was loose in the box, everything was in place. Upgraded from my 7 Speed microshift to Shimano 8 speed. All good.

Combined with a new Claris derailleur this cassette replaced a 12-25 cassette on my 22year old Lightspeed Titanium Catylist road bike with the Shimano 600 Ultegra double ring crankset still on front. I now have a bike to climb the steep roads up to and across the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Pisgah National Forest. So glad I ignored all the shops that said I couldnt do it and must spend $1000s on a new bike. I spent less than $100 on cassette/derailure/chain. Thank you for stocking an 11-34 8 speed shimano cassette at a great price!
i bought this E Spec a year ago with money iv saved up plus extra features with the 3 year care plan. but in in general i serviced this bike before winter i ordered everything i could possibly think of and it costed me £230 at halfords cannock but i need the bike for work to commute. but day to day basis my bike is showing an error sign everytime i turn my bike on when switching modes too. but its always locked in my shed outside the battery is charged everyday my bike is well looked after and still i feel i need something else or halfords will lose my custom and i think i need to take some legal actions because compensation is needed as how much i have spent on the bike let alone the numerous repairs over the past year i dont want to go on but not happy at all.
