Been riding an Ultegra 6800 11-28 with a 105 rear mech and thought it might be nice to have a couple more teeth to make those climbs a little easier. I got the R8000 rear mech to go with it. (Short cage, you know, cos its lighter).I’m not disappointed. Whilst doing the Magnificat I was able to climb a lot better and more consistently not capitulate and maintain a 85-100rpm spin. I know the cassette isn’t totally responsible for that but I’m sure it helps.I use a KMC EL chain and have done for a long time and change them when they reach the wear that my wear indicator says I need to change a chain so I’d expect the cassette to last a fair while like my other shimano cassettes.No shifting issues eventhough I installed it all myself. Certainly as good as the R7000 105 equivalent and probably just as good as the Tiagra equivalent. Pricey, but then isn't everything these days? Best to disregard the upfront cost and instead look at the price (as well as the enjoyment had) per km/mile when you next come to replace it. I would buy the same again.

Tried the HG-800 11-34 which had 2 gear steps. Didn't like it so tried this 11-32 which has 1 gear steps in the higher gears. Much better for my riding style. Shifts are smooth and effortless. Original cassette was 11-28, so this gives me some extra oomph for when I do hill rides.

Designed for junior racing, but the incremental single tooth steps between gears well suits my personal riding, and the local terrain of typical routes taken. Combined with a 50/34 chainset, the gearing provides a range on just one ring in which every cog is usable for 95% of the time, and since my avg speeds on rides on the flats are always around 25-30kph, a 14t high gear is not a limiting factor for me. This cassette requires the Shimano SS rear derailleur, short cage, or other brand equivalent. The GS wont work bc the maximum high gear cog for the GS is 12t.
I have the ultegra 11-speed group set on my bike. I had ultegra 10-speed previously. Frankly I would prefer 10-speed to 11-speed. The cassette of 11-speed seems a lot of less durable which is very disappointed. I understand it’s thinner but it wears out too fast.This REI sale price is very good.

Replacing like for like on a worn out drivetrrain. The last cassette survived 4-5 years of regular use, and I imagine I'll get the same from this one. I suppose you'd save a little bit of weight if you went for Dura Ace, but with Ultegra this good at this price, it's hard to justify.
My Specialized Roubaix came with an 11-34T 105 cassette. This would work great if I lived in an area with more hills. Dallas, TX is rather flat. The Ultegra cassette is much better build quality than the 105 and weighs less. This ratio has much better shift quality and allows me to use all of the gears more often. Not sure if the Ultegra actually shifts better or this ratio is just better in terms of shift quality because the jump between cogs is closer in ratio. The machining and polishing looks fantastic. Overall much happier with this cassette compared to the 11-34T 105 that came with the bike. Jenson USA always has the parts I need and delivers fast!

I bought this cassette to provide me with sufficiently low gearing for the Coast 2 Coast in a day, which includes Hardknott pass. The 11-30 ratio has the benefit of working with the standard cage rear mech with just a minor B-screw adjustment.The combination of 52/36 cranks and 11-30 cassette was a revelation for me. The ratios are sufficiently low to allow for a lot of climbing in the big ring; perfect for powering over the rolling stuff and to allow you to spin up the really steep stuff.Shifting is very crisp. One important lesson I learned though, is that when swapping chain and cassette, you should also replace jockey hweels.!
