I'm no bike expert or hardcore mountain biker, but what I can say is that it's a really high quality rotor.Purchased it to upgrade rotor size and braking power does seem better, the effect is more noticeable when going downhill especially. I haven't had 180mm rotors to compare to others but these rotors allow metal and semi metallic pads also the other reason for getting these rotors.Be sure to bed in the rotors with the pads to get optimum performance. So far the rotor has stayed true and not warped. I also brought it in combination with a Shimano adapter but any brand adapter will work provided it is the correct size.

Best rotors, in my opinion!! Very Lightweight, and tough as you need! My stability/balance has really improved, with these beautiful buddies! Again, I had them, before I had time to get the message, that they were shipped!! Thanks, Everyone!!??

Purchased these rotors rather than the ice tech rotors. I run metallic sintered brake pads and wanted rotors that would last longer. Ice tech rotors are quiet but they tend to wear out faster with metallic sintered pads. Was disappointed that Jenson could not get me a 203mm rotor-out of stock. So I went with two 180mm rotors for my Santa Cruz Hightower. So far after about 8 hours of trail time these rotors teamed up with Shimano XT brakes have not disappointed.

I needed a set of rotors for my 2nd set of MTB wheels since I find it too time consuming to move over the 6-bolt rotors when I want to switch between 29'er and 27.5+ wheelsets. These are the same rotors that came on my first set of wheels and have been performing without an issue with the XT brakes so it made sense to buy the exact same rotors for the second set of wheels. The downhills I ride aren't long enough to need IceTech, so these are the best value. The review linked to 203mm, but mine are 180mm. These came in original Shimano retail packaging and were true out of the box.
Wanted more stopping power at my rear wheel than the stock 160mm rotor was able to provide so decided to upgrade to the 180mm RT76. What a difference maker this rotor has been. I'd already been using my preferred metal brake pads and the additional diameter (and Shimano quality) of this 180mm rotor has helped my control and confidence a great deal. Like the other 2 piece Shimano rotors I've tried (RT-86 & MT800) this RT-76 is notable for remaining true much longer than other brake rotors. One drawback is that it lacks the IceTech design--this RT76 is solid steel where IceTech has an aluminum core. Perhaps I'll get longer life out of this rotor, but if heat build-up and resulting brake fade would ever be an issue with your riding, you might wish to go to the RT86, ... MoreWanted more stopping power at my rear wheel than the stock 160mm rotor was able to provide so decided to upgrade to the 180mm RT76. The price points are similar most places. I'm very happy with the RT-76: performance improvement and lasting quality so I'm not having to jack around making the brakes quiet.
Bought this as a replacement after a tumble that bent my stocker. I really like the free float design. I don't get much rotor noise from this unlike mu solid rotor.
These work well, especially with XT brakes. I ride mostly packed dusty/rocky trails and these work amazingly well. Not sure how they hold up in the mud, but looking at the hole sizes on the rotor, I think they would work pretty well too.I didn't see the RT66's during my search, but next time I would go with the 66's considering the price difference. Sure, these are a little lighter, but after riding my dad's bike with the 66's, it didn't really make much of a discernible difference.
What's not to like about Shimano? I chose these XT SM-RT76 180 mm rotors over the ICE tech model for simplicity/durability instead of a possible technical/weight advantage with the additional aluminum layer. They are on a 2019 SC 5010 and may not be completely broken in yet (only 1 ride). I don't ride real long descents or high speed downhill sections, so I think they'll do fine.
I rode a 25 kg electric bicycle with 4-piston Magura MT5 eStop calipers, 180mm at the rear and 203 at the front. It was a spectacle. Incredible braking power, perfect modulation, correct load distribution between wheels and zero heating on long descents that require a lot of braking. It greatly increased safety and control when pedaling. I recommend
Replaced avid G2 clean sweet rotors with the Shimano XT SM-RT76 (160-180mm) .First thing I noticed is how true the Shimano rotors turned, installation and adjustments were a breeze. There is a noticeable performance difference compared to the G2. I currently have about 45 miles on the XT rotors, So far I’m very pleased the quality and performance.I would defenetly recommend these rotors to anyone that is looking to replaced or upgrade.
