I loved this reel until I stuffed it when I decided to service it and started undoing the brass security but under the spool. I turned it the wrong way and ended up tightening it and damaging the thread. Overall it has a very good drag tensioning system where although you need to turn it more it allows you to set the drag sensitivity just right. It’s good for both saltwater and freshwater. Have not had any corrosion issues. After dozens of fishing trips and thousands of casts no components broke other than the damage caused by me. I’d buy it again $169 is better than >$220-250 that I paid.

Have had the c300HG reel for a year and have fished both salt as well as freash water with it. Preforms well under both conditions and honestly I love the reel. For the price I'm pleased with all of that I could get with it. However I would like to see some minor improvements from this generation to the next such as some tweaking with the line lay of this reel. At times small loops would develop on my spool if I didn't manage my line or checked on my cast, something I noticed that I don't do with my stradic. The line lay on this reel wants to be more of upside down cone except it has just enough line towards the bottom of the spool so it doesn't create point but majority of the top of the spool creates the bottom of the cone so it can cast the line more forward ... MoreHave had the c300HG reel for a year and have fished both salt as well as freash water with it. My last improvement would be a one piece handle at this price point. The Diawa Fuego features a nice handle at the competitive price of this reel so just having one less entry point for debris would be nice. I use 10lbs power pro about 200yrds on it.

Perfect reel I got as a present from some friends.Versatile for rods I use as the weight isn’t too bad. If you read the information about it, the reel holds some technology that can only be found in high end reels that Shimano make. Alongside the price, it is an absolute steal.I mainly fish on beaches or rocks but I occasionally fish freshwater and in estuaries and I can still get a higher hookup with the confidence of casting with this reel than I have with others. As I used to change from reel to reel per place I fished I found less confidence in the change of weight, yet in having one sized reel in the middle with a matching rod works quite well in most environments. Also has an interesting method in how they have made their main gear from a singular piece ... MorePerfect reel I got as a present from some friends.Versatile for rods I use as the weight isn’t too bad. I have been wanting to upgrade to a more expensive reel. I tried this model in a size 30 upon recommendation form my local Cabela's associates. The reel is very nice and smooth. Unfortunately the G Free Body design causes the line roller to hit my knuckles every rotation. This is a deal breaker for me and the reel was returned. I've been using Shimano reels for about 45 years now. This is the first time to be looking elsewhere since the aforementioned feature is on all their nicer reels. If you have small hands then this will be a 5 star reel.
Love the Nasci 1000. I was fortunate enough to purchase the original first nasci. Boy did it rock for 100.00. I am very glad that over the years Shimano kept the same price for the Nasci yet did some nice upgrades. This new model is one smooth reel. I have a 1000 I use for trout and it is a well built reel. I would buy another no doubt about it.
This thing is built better than any of my other reels. The best part is it feels like my old shimano reels from late 90’s that were really solid, which still go for more than this reel at auctions. Put 15lb braid and you’re set, with drag on this thing you can catch about anything in fresh water and casts twice as far as my old Pflueger. It has the metal gearing of the higher end shimanos. I don my think I’ve given a 5 star review before…really can’t be beat, best purchase I’ve had in years.
Excellent reel! Light weight, super smooth, quiet, great balance. Drag is precise, audible click adjustments and smooth. Really like the silver color.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Bristol Tn. Bass pro representative was excellent, thanks!
SHIMANO’s big difference compared to everything else. High quality, perfect design and work that makes a difference. When you work with this reel, you have the feeling that you are holding a much higher class reel in your hand. The price is in the lower class, and the quality is in a much higher class. Only SHIMANO does that!
I paired this reel with a 6'8 med/lite Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier spinning rod and I'm very impressed. It has a smooth retrieve and high quality drag, and I have no complaints! When compared to the Sedona, it is a lot smoother and seems to be made from higher quality materials. It's obviously not Miravel level, but it's not far off. It has caught me many bass around the 20IN mark as well as pike 25IN and bigger. Grab yourself one and you'll be happy you did!
The reel started making a noise less than two weeks after purchase, I would have expected a replacement however Shimano don’t work like that, the staff at BCF are sympathetic but said their hands are tied. The reel is still with Shimano as it apparently takes four weeks to assess.Really poor from Shimano, things do fail however it’s the manner in which they are dealt with is what matters.I would think twice about purchasing a Shimano product again.
