Recently got the 1000 model for a trout fishing trip. Reel is very smooth and casts nice, but then handle bolt kept working its way loose. Seemed like very 10 casts I had to tighten it because the handle was wobbly. Also seemed like the bail action was mediocre, it would hang up at half open and make for terrible casts. I will be returning.

Customer service at BCF Rutherford was great. Price for this item i believe was very reasonable. Works well and appears to be well constructed for it’s intended use which for us is mostly fishing in shallow waters. No operational complaints from the 10 year old who it was purchased for.

I bought the 1000 size to pair with a 6' medium light rod and I love the combo. Nice and light, casts smoothly (using gliss line) and reels in very smoothly. No problems with the handle as one of the other reviewers noted. I have more expensive reels, but I often grab this one since it's nice and light. I'm usually fishing for walleye for reference.

Nice little reel, spooled up with 6lb Braid on a 2/4kg rod. Fairly light and smooth. Handle has the slightest movement. Drag is nice and works fine woundnt wanna go any lighter than 6lb line thou. Used it couple times and handles bream n Moses fine around structure, nothing big yet to properly test it out. Would for sure recommend buying if your thinking about it. At 60$ it a bargain. Also it looks great.
Bought this little reel for my godsons first fishing rod and I was amazed at how smooth it was for such a little reel.Shimano makes some of the best stuff in the business and this little reel is one of them. Can’t beat the price to mess around with anything from snappers to large mouth bass.
I bought this a couple of days ago. Popped it onto my 4 piece poacher and hopped in the kayak. Works beautifully, nice and smooth and plenty of heft. Running 4 pound line for bream in the river.
Very compact and very rigid reel. It works quietly. The brake is very precise and powerful. Mono fishing line alignment is solid, but the spool in size 1000 is very shallow and holds maximum 130m of 0.16mm nylon which is not enough compared to the standard ( min 150m - 0.16mm ). The quality is much higher than the price and only SHIMANO can do that!
I was looking online for a 3000 sized spinning reel, which was harder than I thought. Having owned 1000, 2000 and 4000 Shimano spinning reels before, I knew what I was getting. Smooth drag, perfect laying of the line on the spool, light weight but still gutsy and strong looking. I thought about a Daiwa but went with the Shimano. Glad I did.
This reel is very smooth, has no backlash like some cheaper reels do, I have only been able to take it out once, but have caught a fish and it handled well. I had an older version of the Shimano Sienna and loved it so much I bought the newer version. Fast shipping, great customer service! It was a pleasure doing business Karls Bait & Tackle! I Would Highly recommend this reel especially for the price and quality!
This is my second and last Shimano reel. I reluctantly purchased this reel for crappie fishing. About every third cast the bail will clise while casting. This is very frustrating and it destroys the soft plastic jigs that I am using. Going to return this reel tomorrow and never look back.
