Purchased the 2-5kg rod to pair with a stradic 2500, having owned a maikuro series 1 before, I thought it would be great to try the later model. Was disappointed when the tip clean snapped just below the second guide during a King George Whiting Session on the Eyre Peninsula. Took it back to BCF and they had no issues swapping it over. Ended up spending a bit more and getting the Shimano Raider. Before breaking it felt and performed really well on whiting and flathead. Shame it broke.

I purchased this rod in April. I had to return it the first time I went to use it because the line guide at the tip of the rod was damaged and everytime the slightest bit of pressure was applied it severed the line. Staff at Anaconda in West Gosford were fantastic and allowed me to swap it for an undamaged product. The undamaged rod profermed as expected. It casted well and I caught two decent tailor with it. I'm curious to see if it will last or if it will quickly break as the original one I purchased was already broken.

I have both the Maikuro 1 and 2, 2-4kg. They are a sensational mid range rod, light with a fast action, easily account for larger inshore species like Salmon or Kingfish. Paired with a decent reel like a Stradic or Nasci, I cant fault them.

Don’t buy this, I’ve brought one 6months ago. Used it once and It snapped under a small amount of pressure. I consider myself a decent angler and didn’t high stick it. They won’t replace it under warranty so reasons they won’t tell me. And judging by the other reviews it’s a common issue!
Bought the 12ft surf rod a month ago and have used it a few times now, absolutely love how it feels in the hand with the cork base. Easy to swing. Great sensitivity as well, can feel the sand when dragging lures.4 piece so easy packaging. Not too heavy, paired up with a Penn SSVI4500, mostly beach jigging and some bait fishing as well.Have pulled in a fatty blackfish and a few small flatties, nothing bigger than that yet.Zero complaints, its a great rod for the price.
I bought this rod, at first really liked the feel. But First fish the tip snapped. It Was replaced, and the new rod snapped before it even got into the water. This happened from bowing it to take out car, exactly the same method I use for my other 4 graphite rods. These things are cheap hollow straws of grass with very poor build quality. Guides are terrible.
I bought this rod back in February…it was 4th time in use.felt strange when the guide size was different from exact one that i bought days before.today I casted a whiting rig with size 3 bean sinker maybe bout 10m d〜12m away. then it just snapped in 3pieces…and not at the joint. So it has to do with this product quality. Wasn't expecting it to happen on shimano rods but hey, it just happenedðŸ«
It’s really good rod for a budget and is a great all rounder it’s got really and could bring in monsters. Just make sure to use a net to lift it up and you’re good. Other wise it can snap, let the drag do its job and use take care of this great rod
Was looking at these reviews as mine snapped and I'm glad it wasn't just me and my bad luck!! Hooked a fish of the wharf and upon bringing it in the top half snapped off and lost fish, hook line and sinker... And top half of my rod!! Only bought 3-4 months ago first time using it so I hope it was just a bad batch of Shimano rods!! Def returning to store for warranty. I'll give them another go and go from there!!
Great light road for surf fishing. Brought it to the Eyre peninsula for salmon fishing. Caught a few 5kg fish with any problems. So good I bought 2 one.
