I was looking for a light weight, single speed, compact, lever drag reel with a speedy retrieve. The Shimano Talica TAC8 was exactly what I was looking for. Silky smooth drag, strong cranking power, easy casting, and durable finish. Ive taken it out over a dozen times and just hosed it down afterwards, looks like I just took it out of the box. I do wish it was slightly lighter and more compact.
Great service from Tackle World, bought Talica 12. Had dramas. Then purchased Saltist. Much happier with latter, plus it didn't have to go back with a broken drag washer after 2 reef trips.
Over the last year I have tried many of the better lever drag reels on the market to find the best reel for live bait fishing. Diawa, Accurate, Penn and Seigler all make good reels but non of them compare to the Talica. It takes smooth to a new level and great power for its size.
I was very surprised the product came without a scratch on it.It looked brand new.
Talica Reel is very smooth and lever drag fantastic. Using most for jigging.
