This was an upgrade for me from the original J-Cruise I rode with for 6 years. The J-Cruise II has better ventilation, and that's important for summer riding in the deep Southeast. Longer internal sun shield and outer visor are also nice benefits.

This is the best quality helmet for those of you who feel a little claustrophobic in a full face helmet and/or living/riding in hot climate areas like I do in SoCal....My 6 yr old J Cruise was still good but there was a few slight issues that bothered me a little. First, the air circulation wasn't that great from the vents and also for my head shape I've had a pressure on my ears and forehead. During long touring rides it was becoming uncomfortable after few hrs on the saddle.J Cruise II has slightly deeper ear/speaker channels design and therefore no more pressure on my big elephant ears ;)Also forehead pressure and My chipmunk cheeks are gone too. Shoei has a small visor for this helmet that goes on top of the visor and it becomes really great protective visor (beak) when you are riding towards the sun early or late in the day and keeps your vision clear. All in all the even the differences between JC-I and JC-II seems minimal it makes a difference like day and night between these two models.I am on a GS Adventure for long distance touring and often ride 6 to 12 hrs a day between temp like 65F and 100F and this is a very comfortable, high quality, efficient touring helmet. Too bad that pillock visor is not included with the helmet but I still highly recommend it!

I bought this from speed addict on an open box sale. Great price, Super fast shipping. Best 3/4 helmet I've owned, and I have many. Solid construction, no lift at any speed, super comfortable and good ventilation. Very quiet for a 3/4. Extremely happy with Speed Addict and this Shoei J cruise 2.

This is a beautiful and functional helmet. I ordered a large and XL as my head fell between the two sizes (60-60.5cm). The large fits the crown of my head perfectly. There is no slip side to side or front to back. The first ride on my Harley almost caused me to go back to a half helmet though as the wind and exhaust noise was horrible. After reading on Shoei's website that you shouldn't be able to slip a finger along side your cheek I found my issue. I am able to stick all four fingers in and touch my ear. I folded up some paper towels to fill the space better and the helmet quieted down substantially. The helmet comes with 35mm cheek pads. I have ordered the 39mm pads and think that will solve my problem.
Last year I bought a Shoei RF-SR and think it is a great helmet. However, for around town I preferred my Bell three quarter helmet for it's excellent peripheral vision. Saw the J-cruz and thought about it for a good while as its not cheap, but I thought it might offer better protection and I might range a little farther with it so I jumped. Glad I did. It is as comfortable as the RF-SR (which is really comfy) and it's feature rich. I dig everything about this helmet. Fairly quiet, well vented with a good bit of adjustability and if you're worried about a lack of D-rings to be able to lock your helmet, don't. It has one. The interior sun visor is deluxe. The racket strap is easy-peasy (didn't know if I'd care for that or not). If you're looking for an open face, this ... MoreLast year I bought a Shoei RF-SR and think it is a great helmet. So is the comfort and peripheral vision. Shoei convert here. I use the RF-SR for traveling and this one for bopping around town and the county, though, you can easily tour with this as well and feel very good about it. Im spoiled with these two.
I just purchased this helmet. Did my first 80 miles with it. Its a very comfortable helmet for sure. Great vision and fits great. It weighs a good 8 ounces less than my 3/4 Harley helmet and when wearing it for miles on end, that makes a big difference. My only problem is the ratchet. Don't care for it since I cannot lock the helmet to my bike. Anyone who knows helmets will snatch it up if its not locked up. Ugh. Thanks for listeningCarlo G
My problems are: This new generation is more heavy, more noisy, also combination wit SENA SLR2 it is just terrible, and it is design to only use SENA, I'm unable to use voice control if I'm moving. Also I can barely hear music on highway speeds and volume is to loud when I am at the stop. Auto volume doesn't work. My other problem is cheek area is too tight and smaller cheek pads are unavailable, so I guess I'm going to use helmet for paper weight until 31mm cheek pads are available agin.My recommendation is: Spend more and get something else and don't use SENA with it, unless you don't ride on highway speeds, and don't need music.I'm disappointed in Shoei. I actually loved my first generation J cruise and I used it for 7 yers. Hated to spend this much money on a helmet - but then again what's your head worth? I tried on so many other types of helmets and this one absolutely fit the best - hands down. Selection is a huge issue right now - I wanted a white helmet and couldn't find one in my size anywhere. I settled for the anthracite grey. It's a nice color. Cleans up easy - watch the Revzilla video for tips. Face shield works beautifully and once I put a taller windshield on my bike, I can easily ride with the shield up too and no issues. The venting on this helmet is awesome and I'm riding in Houston heat and humidity - "air you can wear" and I don't have sweat dripping down my face/neck.I'll be able to add a communication pack down the road and have no issue with it fitting my ... MoreHated to spend this much money on a helmet - but then again what's your head worth? This helmet is absolutely the best helmet I've ever owned. Period. I've gone through half helmets, 3/4 helmets, full-face, Bell, HJC, Gmax, Scorpion, etc. This is by far the best for fit, sound, ventilation, and using my Sena headset. I can hear music and conversations clearly even with the vents open. The position of the speakers is excellent and doesn't make my ears ache even after 5+ hours of riding. Visibility is exceptional and the sunshade lens provides enough coverage to not wear sunglasses . Absolutely worth every penny and I'll only by Shoei in the future.
I’m particularly fond of Shoei helmets and own 2 others, both full face. I wanted this one to be able to use on short runs to the store and to and from work. The fit is true, and comfortable. I’ve found this helmet to be louder than I expect but in all fairness, I wear a full face more times than not and they are pretty quiet. I do wear ear plugs with this helmet. The visor works well, with clear, non distorted vision. The sun shade is a real bonus that I don’t have in my other helmets. It too is distortion free and works well, the switch works smooth. All in all, I would rate this a 9 star out of 10, noise being the only negative I’ve found.
