This is the best quality helmet for those of you who feel a little claustrophobic in a full face helmet and/or living/riding in hot climate areas like I do in SoCal....My 6 yr old J Cruise was still good but there was a few slight issues that bothered me a little. First, the air circulation wasn't that great from the vents and also for my head shape I've had a pressure on my ears and forehead. During long touring rides it was becoming uncomfortable after few hrs on the saddle.J Cruise II has slightly deeper ear/speaker channels design and therefore no more pressure on my big elephant ears ;)Also forehead pressure and My chipmunk cheeks are gone too. Shoei has a small visor for this helmet that goes on top of the visor and it becomes really great protective visor (beak) when you are riding towards the sun early or late in the day and keeps your vision clear. All in all the even the differences between JC-I and JC-II seems minimal it makes a difference like day and night between these two models.I am on a GS Adventure for long distance touring and often ride 6 to 12 hrs a day between temp like 65F and 100F and this is a very comfortable, high quality, efficient touring helmet. Too bad that pillock visor is not included with the helmet but I still highly recommend it!

Helmet does not fit well, hard to put on and take off. Too tight top of my head. I knew helmet was tight but told for safety it should be tight. Should have got next size up. My husband and I both got new helmets and also Sena SLR2 for both helmets. SLR 2 does not work properly, echo in helmet when we talk. Sometimes Sena responds to buttons we push, other times no. Not satisfied with Sena . Called back to Cycle Gear to tell how Sena was working and asked if mesh worked better and we were told yes. Wish we had known that before we bought Sena.

I bought the J-Cruise because my wife wanted to talk on longer rides and listen to music. I wanted a few rides in before offering a review. After a month I can offer a valid review.I wear a large sized helmets, and the Shoei fit true to that. Overall the comfort is top-notch. The weight of the helmet isn?t anything noticeable. The field of vision out of the face shield is great, with little, if not any vision obstruction from the helmet. I?ve always felt retractable sun visors in helmets were gimmicky, but I?m changing my mind. I actually find myself using it often, and it works good.NEOTEC 2 intercom. Here is what I?ll say?..it works. I can answer calls at 50 MPH and caller couldn?t tell I was on my bike. I can listen to music, I can have a conversation. I work bicycle races on my motorcycle. I've been using a Neotec 2 which I love - but at the same time, riding with it open puts the chin bar in the wind and is heavy. I decide to try the J-Cruise 2 and really like it. It's lighter, you don't have the bulk high up in the air and SUPER COMFORTABLE! I have ridden it to/from work and up to about 85 mph. It's maybe a little noisier than my Neotec 2, but wearing headphone/earplugs - it isn't bad. I prefer more helmet for highway/aggressive riding - but this is a great helmet!I will add - it fogs more than I expected. I am 100% glad I added the Pin-Lock insert.
This review will be longer than it should be but here goes. Just got my helmet on 5/8/22, upgrading from a Arai Classic 3/4 helmet. I've only gone for one ride so far and here are my first thoughts. I love the look of the helmet and it is very comfortable. I installed the Cardo Packtalk Bold which took about 20 minutes after using my wife's helmet (also a J-Cruise) as the guinea pig, that one took way longer cause I didn't know what I was doing. Anyway, the music sounds much better and I love how all the pads come out so you can do a clean install. I love the ratchet closure even though I'm still getting used to attaching it and a couple times it took me a while to find the slot. The vents are much better than on the Arai, you can actually feel the breeze on your ... MoreThis review will be longer than it should be but here goes. Anyway, the music sounds much better and I love how all the pads come out so you can do a clean install. I love the ratchet closure even though I'm still getting used to attaching it and a couple times it took me a while to find the slot. The vents are much better than on the Arai, you can actually feel the breeze on your head. Unfortunately I got some very bad wind buffeting at freeway speed. It was unbearable. I was on my Goldwing with the windshield down and I had to put the windshield up to stop the unbearable noise. Found out that if I closed the vents, the noise stopped so that was the problem. I'm going to experiment with it to see if I can open one or two of the vents or partially open them and not have this wind problem. Also, since both of my bikes are touring bikes, my thought was to take the front shield off, but I'm becoming a big fan of it. It was a 60 degree kind of windy day and I love the fact that I didn't have to deal with chilly cross-winds. Also, when the shield is all the way up, I didn't feel any wind resistance at all so the shield is going to stay on. Love the drop down sunglasses and I know they made them longer than on the original Cruise, but i wish they were still longer. When I look at my instruments, my eye line is right at the bottom line of the glasses which is annoying and something I will try to get used to. That's my review and congratulations if you made it all the way through.
Last year I bought a Shoei RF-SR and think it is a great helmet. However, for around town I preferred my Bell three quarter helmet for it's excellent peripheral vision. Saw the J-cruz and thought about it for a good while as its not cheap, but I thought it might offer better protection and I might range a little farther with it so I jumped. Glad I did. It is as comfortable as the RF-SR (which is really comfy) and it's feature rich. I dig everything about this helmet. Fairly quiet, well vented with a good bit of adjustability and if you're worried about a lack of D-rings to be able to lock your helmet, don't. It has one. The interior sun visor is deluxe. The racket strap is easy-peasy (didn't know if I'd care for that or not). If you're looking for an open face, this ... MoreLast year I bought a Shoei RF-SR and think it is a great helmet. So is the comfort and peripheral vision. Shoei convert here. I use the RF-SR for traveling and this one for bopping around town and the county, though, you can easily tour with this as well and feel very good about it. Im spoiled with these two.
My problems are: This new generation is more heavy, more noisy, also combination wit SENA SLR2 it is just terrible, and it is design to only use SENA, I'm unable to use voice control if I'm moving. Also I can barely hear music on highway speeds and volume is to loud when I am at the stop. Auto volume doesn't work. My other problem is cheek area is too tight and smaller cheek pads are unavailable, so I guess I'm going to use helmet for paper weight until 31mm cheek pads are available agin.My recommendation is: Spend more and get something else and don't use SENA with it, unless you don't ride on highway speeds, and don't need music.I'm disappointed in Shoei. Lightweight and comfortable. The helmet is relatively quite considering it's a 3/4. I like the ratchet fastening system. But be advised mounting an intercom system is problematic. It is set up to use the Sena SRL2 but if you read the reviews it's not the best product. I have a Sena 50s and figured I would just get an extra mount and use the base unit between the two helmets. I could not get the "universal" clamp to work on the helmet without some jury rigging. Additionally the Sena clamp kit is set up for a right side mount for the microphone. I just wish they would at least upgrade the speakers in the SRL/SRL2. You're paying a premium price for a subpar system.
This helmet is absolutely the best helmet I've ever owned. Period. I've gone through half helmets, 3/4 helmets, full-face, Bell, HJC, Gmax, Scorpion, etc. This is by far the best for fit, sound, ventilation, and using my Sena headset. I can hear music and conversations clearly even with the vents open. The position of the speakers is excellent and doesn't make my ears ache even after 5+ hours of riding. Visibility is exceptional and the sunshade lens provides enough coverage to not wear sunglasses . Absolutely worth every penny and I'll only by Shoei in the future.
This is a very nice helmet. It is comfortable and fits true to size with a long oval shape. The shield provides excellent visibility. The reasons for not giving 5 stars…firstly- to me, it's both too quiet (it fits tightly and seals out everything. So hearing my radio requires me to really turn up the volume) and to loud (when riding, lots of wind noise). Secondly - I purchased this helmet to replace my Arai Ram-X. Though more expensive, I do prefer the Arai to this model Shoei. The Arai is a bit more comfortable, maybe a little lighter, and has less wind noise at speed.
