Bought the Matte Gray Neotech 2 for my Harley riding (Street Glide and Fat Bob) and I am very happywith it. I have 22" noggin and bought a Small. Fits perfect with little wind noise. No complaints. If wind noise is a concern for you (Communication devices or tinnitus) I would recommend this helmet. For comparispn purposes, I previously had a Sedeci II Carbon modular, an exceloent helmet for the money, just a bit noisier. I also have a Bell Race Star for my Daytona 675 Track Days, a Bell MX-9 for my KTM 790 Adv riding. This is the quietest helment of those for me. I can easily make calls with no wind noise and can listen to music on a lower volume.

This is a nice helmet with one big problem. It is WAY TOO HOT. The vent at the top of the helmet doesn't let in any noticeable airflow. Consequently, in temperatures over 80 F. my head sweats and my hair gets wet. I end up riding with the shield open part way. The helmet is so hot I ended up enlarging the holes from the vent at the top of the helmet. This helped slightly but the holes through the outer helmet skin are so tiny that making the holes bigger on the inside didn't do much. Somehow I am going to remove the scoop at the top of the helmet and modify the exterior holes into the helmet. I might ruin the helmet modifying the venting but in my opinion this helmet is useless the way it comes from the factory unless you like riding with the chin bar up for ... MoreThis is a nice helmet with one big problem. I was going to go with the HJC RPHA 91 and changed my mind last minute.The HJC seemed like it was as good as the Shoei but for several hundred less. I also liked the finish. I went back into a store to buy the HJC and a service rep stated he thought I should take a Large instead of XL. He was correct. The Shoei fit like a glove. The HJC had a couple of pressure points, the worst just above the brow. I was unacceptable. Can't rate it because I never got it. It showed available then ordered it a tinted shield and the headset, after receiving everything but the helmet got an email telling me it is on backorder with no shipping date. Be careful when ordering. If it doesn't show in stock at their warehouse, then I would not order because you have no idea when you will get it. If you just want to order and don't care how long it will take or if you ever get it then it is ok to order. I needed the helmet and could not wait months so ordered a different one. I still want this one so if it ever shows actually in stock may order it.In their defense it is out of stock on all the major cycle gear sites but would have been nice to know before buying all the gear to go with this beautiful helmet.
I changed from using an Arai XD4 to this Shoei for primarily street/hwy use and as much as I really like the Arai, it does not even come close to the comfort and noise reduction you get with the Shoei. The Arai does have better airflow and peripheral vision, but it's too noisy for long term Hwy rides, even with earplugs. The Shoei excels on road, the integrated visor is a very nice feature, plus I am really enjoying the flip up face on it as well. I also added the Sena SRL mesh comms to it and can now easily hear music and phone calls now, which was never the case with the Arai.
Even though this is a pricey helmet and it is a hair on the heavy side the benefits way outweigh any downsides by far. The fit is sweet perfection without any hard spots or anything to interfere with your comfort. I have an oval head which sometimes is hard to get a good fit. The innovations in padding and aerodynamics make this the quiest helment which makes longer rides a pleasure. The chin strap is a simple but great feature which can be closed with gloves on. The modular design is easy to open and close with the air vents on point. The bottom line is that this helment is as close to perfection as I have ever experienced.
If you're on the fence, don't be. It's a Shoei. The fit and finish is amazing. I am between a Large and XL. I bought the large thinking it would break in some. It fits snug, but in a good way. And I do think it will loosen up some as I wear it more, as so far I have only worn it 2x, but my other Shoei helmets "broke in" and fit great. It's meant for a Sena Bluetooth, but I bought the Cardo adapter and mounted the Packtalk edge. And it's crystal clear.
Bought the pink variant for my wife. Overall great item. Can be a little claustrophobic if you close it all up but just lifting the shields 1" will make a huge difference. My wife rolled her Harley TriGlide last week and the trike actually flew through the air and landed on her head. The helmet did crack but performed perfectly. She got a small bruise on her right eye lid. How many helmets can say that!
Living in an area with some of the worst traffic congestion in the USA, I noticed right off that my lateral field of vision is blocked with this helmet. In comparison to other helmets on my shelf this one has the most restrictive view. I need to crank my neck around substantially further to get the same field of view as a Schuberth E1, Klim Krios Pro, Arai XD4.When performing head checks I feel slightly blindsided in the Neotec II - which is a bit alarming - but I'm trying to adjust because beyond that it feels better than any of the above mentioned buckets.I also noticed a sharp adhesive smell, but after the first couple days of wind and rain it has dissipated almost entirely

So I gave it to my G/F because it is a safer more functional helment than the one she was using. The chin strap on the Shoei is so easy to use I no longer have to help her. Her old helment had a cross over double D ring that I had to fasten for her.The functionality of the Shoei Neotec 2 Respect is exactly the same as the Shoei Neotec 2 and I got it in the Large size which is perfect for me. I really like the air flow of these helments as well as their modular functionality. It is a bit on the heavy side however I do not notice it when I am riding.
