I don't run much anymore, but when I do it's after my 3 y o grandson! I walk about 5 miles or more a day, have a tendency to plantar in my right foot. These shoes feel lighter than previous models, and seem to provide just as much support as the 2 pairs of 860's I wore out. If you're a mild over pronater, and are tired of your Brooks Adrenalines falling apart, consider this shoe.

My podiatrist suggested I try this as opposed to my usual brands of Under Amour and Nike; she said they were more supportive of the foot. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. Not helping is that the collar/heel tab is too soft, which makes it difficult to place the foot inside. Another dislike is that it was not available in my size (ten and a half), so I had to purchase a size eleven and after several weeks of wearing, my feet feel like they are swimming in them.

I love these new balance shoes. I get the wide version and there is lots of room in the toe box and the shoe fits very well. Very cushy for my runs and has good traction even when running on trails through the woods. Hopefully time will not change this shoe too much and I can keep buying this model.
I bought these a couple of weeks ago to find a shoe needed for recovery. I work on my feet a lot and I needed a shoe that would allow free flow, circulation and full range of motion through pronation without compromising support too much, and still providing enough support and comfort to the feet to minimise arch and feet pain while I'm not wearing my orthoses on days off. The lower 10mm heel drop is the perfect amount of heel drop to engage the calves and use more of the heel to take pressure off of the forefeet. Perfect walking shoe for recovery and hugs the feet down to the sole. It feels like a natural extension to your feet while providing the comfort and support much needed for me. As a bonus, I can still feel the ground through all of this cushioning and the sole is so wide that I feel very stable on the ground.
I was able to start running my regular long distances without any break- in periods. I had the 11, 12 along with the 13. The 13 is very comfortable. A little thing, they improved the shoelaces. The made the laces longer and they stay tied with one knot while the 12 's you always had to double knotted. The 12's laces were so short. Very difficult to tie.
Ordered online after an in store fit 1 year ago 11.5 W or EE in black. These were at a discount bc they were replaced by a newer version, I think. I ordered them with free shipping so it took them a business week to get to me. Found them on the porch hidden well, don’t know or remember the shipper but well done. Right out of the box they fit perfect. After a close inspection I found no obvious flaws. I expect them to be my primary walkers for several months before being worn as beaters for a year or so. I always replace laces with elastic ones so I don’t have to tie them. So far so good..
I have minor arthritis in my left knee. Recently visited Fleet Feet in Carrboro to get fitted. The whole process was very easy and the sales professional recommended The New Balance shoes. What a difference! For the first time in over a year I ran 5K with NO PAIN. Even set a new personal record!
And New Balanace RUINED this shoe. When they say they “modernized the look and feel of the shoe” what they mean is the made the toe box narrow. A lot more narrow as in now I have to find a shoe I can wear again after thinking I had finally found my favorite shoe in the 880 with the version 12. They also removed some of the padding in this shoe. It feels very stiff in comparison to the previous version. If you liked the version 12 do not buy this shoe.
I can’t rate my new 880s, as I haven’t used them yet. I still have a hundred or so miles to go on my older pair. I love the older pair, I’m sure I’ll love the new ones as well. Exactly the same except color. I’m an older runner, and my main concern is avoiding injury and not having foot problems. My New Balance 880s have performed perfectly in that respect, that’s why I bought replacements before a discount I had ran out.
