Please read through the review to its end and don’t be put off by my ramblings, this is a positive review for Aftershokz.I bought a pair of these Aftershokz bone conduction earphones about 2 1/2 yrs ago and to be honest I wasn’t impressed one bit and so put them in a drawer and that was that, lesson learned! So, when I came across them a couple of weeks ago I thought I’d give them another go. It took a couple of days for me to realise why the sound seemed so much better, it was me!Previously, I weighed in at 123kg, now I’m 79kg. For me the weight loss was a consequence of Covid, lockdown and cocooning as I’m immunocompromised. I increased my exercise and in total I’ve lost 44kg (88lbs). One of the many benefits of there being less of me is the Aftershokz headband has less of me to pass the sound waves through to get to the bone, and as I see it this has resulted in a massive increase in the sound quality. Just to confirm what I’m saying is I’ve not seen this fact written down anywhere but rather it is my personal experience with using the technology in these headphones. However, to be serious about this product I can report that they are in fact very good at what they do, which is produce a good midrange sound of what you’re listening to. The down side to the technology in the Aftershokz is that they cannot give a good bass, if that’s your thing look else where. However, if your like me and listen all most exclusively to audio books or Radio 4/Ex they are quite brilliant and can’t be bettered. Additionally, as I spend the day walking my dogs around my rural Tipperary home I can now enjoy a good audio book or broadcast and also be fully aware of what’s around me due to the ‘open ear’ aspect of these headphones and remain relatively safe.In closing the only person that might want to think about buying these headphones are the more rotund amongst us, like I use to be. For me there really is a dramatic difference to the positive with the before and after sound production following a large weight reduction. For anyone else that is of a more regular weight get these headphones and enjoy. The only thing to watch out for is if you have them up at full volume there is a slight tickle where the headset touch the temple from the ‘thumper’ but with the slightest adjustment downward in volume it will remove this sensation. Enjoy.

These are nice headphones, but I’m unsure I’d recommend them to others.I bought them for exercise, and when running, the wind noise in my ears is quite loud. A lawnmower or car will drown out the music until they are 50-100 meters away. Volume needs to be cranked up quite a bit (about 2/3) to achieve the equivalent low volume of my old Anker earbuds. I also haven’t found a comfortable position for the rigid band when weightlifting. These headphones excel when paired with 33db earplugs when mowing the yard or other loud equipment. Bass response is impressive when wearing earplugs, which is a welcome change from the flat sound without plugs. Fresh off the charger to approximately 80% drops extremely quickly, and hopefully, the headphones still hold a charge in a year.Overall, the headphones aren’t bad enough to return, but they do not enamor me. Maybe it’s the budget model I bought for my first pair, but I’m reluctant to spend more based on experience. The best sound quality comes with earplugs, but I’m unwilling to run along roads with plugs as I want to hear approaching traffic.

Great headphones. They stay in place pretty well on a run, and the sound quality is clear. I like the USB-C charger; I already have a few devices that use that cord, so it simplifies travel for me. Battery life and charge speed are fine for how I use it (1-2 hour run daily). For flying, they worked pretty well, too. Lasted through a four-hour flight without issue. They didn't come with ear plugs, though, which are a must on planes.I returned these to upgrade to the OpenRun for two reasons. First, I occasionally had trouble getting just the right location for the headphones. Searching around for just the right spot in front of my ears/near my temples got a little tiresome. My wife has the OpenRun, and I didn't experience the same trouble trying hers. Second, when ... MoreGreat headphones. They stay in place pretty well on a run, and the sound quality is clear. I usually use ipods but when walking or working out they always seem to work there way out where i have to keep pushing them back into place. I was about to buy beats over the ear but decided to try these and they work perfect. I can listen to music, take calls and still hear what is going on around me without having to push anything in my ear. If you lay back on a pillow they do hit the back of the headset but when working out or at work they dont cause any issues not even when lifting using a bench. It just took a few tries to find that sweet spot especially after only using in the ear headsets previously. The controls are easy to use and locate when wearing the headset. Just remember you do not put them on top of your ear, the go over the ear and lay in front. Overall i am very happy with my purchase and have used them for over a month now daily. Great peoduct so far and excellent for quick charging and long battery life. Definitely worth trying out if you are interested and hate when ear buds fall out or stop you from hearing whats going on around you. Its nice to listen to music that no ine can hear and have a conversationnif someone walks up. Hope this helps!
I recently purchased an OpenMove. A friend of mine owns both an OpenRun as well as OpenRun Pro. This past weekend we compared them all. They all weigh around the same amount although both OpenRun feel a bit lighter. The OpenRuns are a bit easier to put on but since you're talking a second or two, it's really not even a small issue. The controls are virtually the same on all three headphones as well.I do like the cord for the OpenRuns but the USB-C is really a better choice should anything ever happen to the original cord. You would need to reorder a new one for the OpenRuns while you can almost pick a USB-C cord at the local gas station.OpenMove runs for around 7 hours, OpenRun 8 hours, Pro 10 hours +/-.Of course the main thing everyone wants to know about is ... We wanted to believe that the OpenRun actually sounded better than the OpenMove but in reality neither of us could really tell much of a difference at all. We could both hear a difference with the Pro. A bit clearer and possibly even a bit of bass. The biggest thing that affected the sound quality was the placement of the phone and the type of music we listened too. The closer you positioned the phone to your ear the better sound you will get.Podcasts sounded fine of course. Hard rock or heavy metal sounded horrible to somewhat adequate. Light rock and classic rock sounded ok. Bands like Electric Light Orchestra and Steely Dan sounded quite good. Most Jazz sounded really good, especially piano based jazz. Basically piano, strings and acoustic or jazz guitar sounded the best. Classical depended on the composition. When people say the bass isn't that great, what mean is that there is no bass at all.If you're new to these types of headphones you will first be surprised at how clear they really are. No they're not like real headphones but who would ever think you could hear music through your head. When you're looking at the best bang for your buck, the OpenMove is the way to go. The sound quality is virtually identical to the OpenRun and is almost half the cost.
tl;dr: Despite small audio quality sacrifice, best bluetooth headphones ever, upgrade only if you have money to burn.My fiance and I got a set of these a few months ago. Right off the bat I was enthralled.First, nothing to put in your ears and no wires. I have tried a variety of bluetooth headphones prior: wired sets that get tangled up when you reach for them wherever they are, independent sets that have no battery life to speak of and immediately fall out of your ears should you even conceive of sweating, an old-fashioned headset that weighed a ton with a battery life that didn't justify it. These headphones hold themselves in place, don't have any flimsy wires, and their battery life is more than sufficient. On top of that: no ear wax in or on my ... These headphones hold themselves in place, don't have any flimsy wires, and their battery life is more than sufficient. On top of that: no ear wax in or on my headphones.Second, multilingual and other options. First experience with any bluetooth headphones that could be set to a language other than the country they were sold in. My fiance and I purchased them in Japan, where we live, but I am from the US and she is from the PRC. The headphones can be set to both of our native languages (as well as Korean and the Japanese they came in). The bonus voice enhancement equalizer is a big plus: I enjoy talk radio, she enjoys audio novels.Third: USBC charging. I don't want some special adapter. I have a bunch of USB chargers and cables from other devices; specifically my phone is USBC as well and her next one probably will be too, given Apple's loss in the EU. It's convenient and the level of waterproofing is sufficient: I do not intend to take the headphones for a bath or drop them in a river. If I did, I'd splurge for the OpenSwim. If there's anything to complain about, it is a very small reduction in audio quality. The range is more than good enough unless you are a bit OCD, which I happen to be. I don't think most people will be able to hear the difference actually, and even though I can hear it, I find the sacrifice well worth it. If I want premium audio quality, I won't be using any kind of headphones to begin with. The OpenMove's quality is superb considering it obstructs nothing while you commute, jog, ride, or whatever else you do while listening or making calls. These are probably the best multitasking-oriented headphones on the market.
These are the first pair of bone conduction headphones I have had but after having problems with in ear and over ear headphones I thought I would give them a try. I just wanted something basic so no high fidelity music, just Youtube videos and TV, nor out running, jogging, swimming or cycling. I also wear glasses so was curious how they would go with my glasses frames. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how good they are and how comfortable with no pressure sensation on the side of my head. For my use I have no issue other than a short learning curve on best way to fit them considering my glasses frames. If not positioned correctly can get a slight vibrating sensation which is not that bad but is easily fixed by fiddling a bit with the position. This does not ... These were the cheapest model. Quite frankly I don’t know why you would pay more for my sort of usage. Maybe the others clamp better for more energetic applications. The other thing is my wife can talk to me without me having to take off or out the usual style headphones. I would highly recommend.
Buy these, if you need to be aware when you are outdoors. Shokz are the current best solution for outdoor awareness. You can pay more for other models but I found the OpenMove to be outstanding and unlike the more expensive models does not require a proprietary charger. As someone who is very active in the outdoors with walks, dog walks, and even jogging at times, I am a big believer in staying alert for cyclists, scooter-ists, and traffic. I have used a number of wireless earbuds on my walks in a variety of ways to stay alert. I have worn the one bud in one ear, worn the earbuds that do not seal in the ear, and used the transparency mode of earbuds that seal the ears. Each of these methods offered some effectiveness but had downsides. The one earbud made me feel like I was hearing limited on one side. The open earbuds were good (Jabra 45e) but with the sound right at the ear tended to overpower ambient surrounding sounds still. The Jabra 45e also tended to hurt my ear for some reason. I would rate the open ear buds the second best method still. Finally, I just don't find transparent method transparent enough and still find myself being surprised by people coming up on me.This brings me to the Shokz Open Move. I thought of the whole bone conduction technology as a gimmick. I also read of the poor sound quality so I never considered them. On a recent trip, I was in an airport and visited one of the headphone stores that had a display of the Shokz headphones to try. I tried them and to my surprise I really liked them. The airport with all of its crowd noise and announcements gave the perfect background to test the models. My ears were open and the music was clear and understandable, and frankly more than good enough. The vibrations were not annoying and the sound was clear.Shokz ran a sale shortly after I returned home and I picked up the basic model, the OpenMove on sale at BestBuy. I chose the OpenMove because bone conduction is not going to replace my Beats Fit Pro when I am seriously listening to music, so I did not need or expect audiophile music so did not see value in the upgrades. The second and truly just as big a reason, it charges by USB-C so no need for proprietary chargers. My OpenMove Shokz I use daily on my walks. The sound is fine for music and for podcasts or Sirius XM programming. I am the most aware of people, bikes, dogs, traffic, etc., than any other earbud solution. Here is the rationale for my score, 4 for sound quality because they do not seal the ears for immersion. But 5 for being open like I need when I am outdoors.5 for Battery Life. I have never run out of battery after a week or so, I will charge them out of good habit. But I am usually out one to two hours a day although they might not be playing music or a podcast the whole time.4 for connectivity. This is nuanced. The Shokz always connect immediately to my iPhone 13 Pro. I have never had an issue playing music or a podcast. What I have had is on a few incoming phone calls the call did not come through on the Shokz and instead answered on my phone. It has happened a few times and it has not dropped a call just shifted to the phone.Of all the different earbuds I have bought and tried, I now used these the most.
First of all, these were purchased for me as a gift from my wife through her Amazon account, which is why you'll not see a "verified purchase" sticker next to my review. But I do have them and I do love them. There are so many things to love about these headphones I don't even know where to start. I guess the easiest to get into is the battery life. I've worn them all day every day since I got them, using them for music, audiobooks, videos, and games, and have never yet had them die on me. They charge really quickly via a USB-c port, which is really nice since that is the port that many Android phones are now using. The sound quality is great. Just as vibrant as your regular in-ear headphones while still leaving your ears open to the outside world. Being able to hear the world around you while still hearing your audio media crisply is such a strange, yet awesome, feeling. They fit fine with glasses, which I wear every day, so no issues there. In fact they fit so well I regularly forget that I'm wearing them - even while listening to them! They are so comfortable and don't ever hurt your ears like other buds can after periods of extended use. They don't leave your ears ringing if you've got them too loud for a little while. They don't accumulate earwax (gross!).Now, these won't get at loud as your traditional buds might. Or at least, they don't cancel outside noise at all (kind of the point) so excessively loud environments can make it difficult to hear these. Normal every day situations and noises though won't have any negative effect on your ability to enjoy whatever it is that you're listening to.The volume is super easy to control. There are two very easily accessible buttons to control volume and power on the right side, and one extremely convenient button to pause media, answer calls, etc on the left side.Call quality is great. In fact, people I talk to on the phone say that these have the best microphone quality of any other wireless headphones I've used (and I use the phone almost exclusively with headphones; I hate holding the phone to my ear). They don't hear any background noise such as wind when I'm outside or keyboard clacking when I'm using the computer. If you're looking for a new set of wireless earphones and want to try something new, give these a try. Unless you're in a significantly loud environment all day, you'll have no regrets at all. They won't get you through mowing the lawn (I have bluetooth hearing protector muffs for that), but they'll get you through your workday, your commute, your boring business meetings, and your shopping trip without keeping you cut off from your surroundings. I love these things and truly think that you will too.(Oh my god. I just took pics for this review and AM I GOING GREY??? Literally noticing this for the first time. I'm not even 30. Excuse me while I go break down.)
There's one reason to get these: if you want bone conduction headphones and require a standardized usb-C charging port.I'll mimic what all the other reviews say: the technology works. It's hard for other people to hear what you're listening to and you can still hear everything around you (much better than the average earbud passthrough mode). At and above half volume, you'll likely feel some intense vibrations, but it's rare you'd need to turn it up that loud anyway. The bass is practically nonexistent, an unfortunate drawback of bone conduction (lower frequencies don't conduct as well as higher frequencies), but plugging your ears actually helps with that, should that be an acceptable option. All around, the OpenRun/Aeropex is a significantly better product in ... Those people will find the Open move suitable enough. My one complaint was that, as a glasses wearer with a large head, the place the electronics box sits behind the ear pressed on my ear in such a way that was quite painful after extended use. This may not be an issue however for those with smaller heads or those who don't wear glasses.
