I started singing when I was 5 years old, 1948, and listening to radio 4RO at 5am every morning, Country & Western Hour, in Rockhampton Central Queensland. I started my very own Rock and Roll Band "The Rhythm Suedes" when I was 15years old and I had the first Rock and Roll Band in Rockhampton. We used small Amps and a Microphone that was cheap and good enough to sing through. These days I am 80 years old and do solo singing on my Boss Cube St.2. After all these years I have never sang through a Shure Microphone until I purchased one from your shop. It's absolutely fantastic. Iconic Microphone the SM58s

An iconic piece of musical industry equipment - the most widely used vocal Mic in history! The switched SM58 is particularly useful for backup singers that dont use the vocal mic all the time. A bass player can switch it off but have it ready if he needs it. Hence an SM58s (w/an on off switch) is very handy and useful. A new SM58 (w/out switch) typically sells for $99 and this one about $40! Cant beat it! GREAT PRICE AND BRAND NEW! AAA+++

It's a classic.

I needed a mic with minimal handling noise for a new Comedy Club. The SM58 is known for its sonic performance and its internal suspension which reduces handling noise.It's not a huge difference but it is better than lesser mics.Any way, it gets the job done without any complaints.I will probably be buying another to have a spare.The only thing I wish I knew before buying is that this mic has no on/off switch. That's not horrible for comedy, less for the comic to screw up but more for the AV Tech to worry about...

I've purchased four mics over the past two years. Recently, I picked up a Shure SM58 Dynamoic mic and was genuinely amazed and impressed with its performance and durability. I, like so many others, appreciate an educated and deliberate mic collection. I wish the SM58 would've been my first mic purchase nearly a decade ago. It delivers on all the specs and then some. The quality of sound that the 58 captures and produces in remarkable. This mic is a must-have for and all industry professionals. Switch or No Switch

To weigh into the pro/con of switches - if you are doing a one-person show, get the switch. As others have said, better and immediate control over the feedback. If you have a team and a sound person, do not use switches!!! The sound person should be able to handle the feedback before it becomes a problem and I can't tell you how many times I have mentally sent up prayers on the board because some singer on a gig turned off their mic and forgot. The only way to fix the sound at the point is to have a talk back to the stage to tell the person or to just stop the gig and fix it. I would rather have all the control at the board than not, IMO...

THE Standard

This is still the best mic on the planet, and for good reason. I'm sure certain voices could prefer or even sound better through other mics, but my voice never sounds more natural than when I sing through a 58. I've tried others such as Sennheisers, EVs, and Audix and keep coming back to the SM58. I've sang through a Beta 58 before too, but I still just hold the most regard for the standard. As for value, a lone Benjamin gets you every bit of quality that you will ever need. I've famously heard that Bono has tracked with U2 in the studio with a 58 instead of fancier microphones with Daniel Lanois producing. That speaks VOLUMES.For me, the reason is simple. I often sing off axis as I am a guitar player / lead singer and our band intentionally writes more difficult and technical music to keep the listener engaged and to fill out the sound of a 3 piece band. Even when doing solo acoustic gigs, when I have switched to say an Audix OM6, my vocals have suffered. They are not as loud, need to be turned up more and when I sing off axis to look at my fretboard, I lose a ton of clarity and enunciation through the sound system. I'm sure for a regular lead singer that does nothing but sing, an OM-6 could be a beautiful mic, but for my money, my time and my sound, and Shure SM58 is the end all bed all. I'll never need another mic and neither will you - it's just that rock solid. Yet, its feedback rejection is incredible. Even when I go off axis, my voice is still coming through strong, yet it's not getting lots of bleed through. Whoever designed it first did it right - it's like a Fender Strat, it doesn't need to be fixed and almost a century later little has changed or needed to be. This is the mic that hammers nails on soundstages in a pinch haha
