No complaints! The 400mm length is great for my uses, like a family trip to the local zoo or snapping birds in the backyard. It’s heavy, but not exhaustingly so. I’m no YouTube photographer doing exhaustive tests for corner sharpness and aberrations, but I’m extremely happy with the overall quality of my images. It’s a solid lens with excellent manual features. Highly recommended at the price!

The best replacement for the expensive Sony GM lenses. it's a good sharp lens, although the autofocusing is not the best of the best it does the job. If you are shooting many actions related photos you might have to reconsider the lens because of its slow autofocusing. this is a worthy lens in every aspect, it's worth the price you are paying.

Overall, a good lens. I got this for my wife as a present. For the same price as just the lens, it includes the Coral editing software, filters, and a pouch. Lens works great and it fit the sony 6400 perfectly. However, it's been almost a month and we still have not received the filters and the pouch doesn't quit fit (see pics). Software hasn't been tried yet. Overall, recommend the product, just don't place too much value on the added accessories.

Great lens for wildlife, nature and landscapes. Amazingly enough I have been able to pull off some good enough portraits with this lens getting a nice compressed background within the variable apertures that it offers. It is perfect for the price vs a Sony G Master competing against this. I do not regret getting this lens at all, build is great, sealed and fairly premium. The only downside so far is finding a good enough lens collar that isn't as expensive as Sigma's. Yes, lens collar is sold separately, but still it is a great lens and stabilization mechanics really work well.
I received the lens today and couldn't wait to open the box. I purchased the lens used from Adorama and saved about $300 off the list price. The first thing I noticed is that the lens is bigger than I expected (not a problem). The next thing I noticed is that I couldn't tell that the lens was used. It arrived in the factory box with the original paperwork and booklet. This gives me the confidence to buy a used item from Adorama in the future. I attached a polarizer filter and the tripod ring mount to the lens and clicked through a few photos to test it out. I'm gonna like this lens. I like the lock feature that keeps the lens from zooming when hanging down. I also like the option on the lens to select for panning shots.
For the money, this is a wonderful lens.If it cost a few hundred more it would still be wonderful, but I'm thankful the price is where it's at.AF is very quick and nearly silent. Length is great and hits a good spot for carrying around. I found this suitable for outdoor portraits, landscapes, wildlife and everything in between.It fits at the long end of my setup. I carry a Sony FE 1.8/50, a Sony FE 4/24-105 G OSS and this 100-400mm 1:5-6.3 DG DN.The OSS is incredible for such a long lens, enabling me to do some video at 400mm handheld!This is paired with my Sony A7rII.
Image quality is excellent in a relatively compact design. This will be a great outdoor lens for wildlife and nature photography. The image stabilization is pretty amazing, even at 400mm. Build quality is also a strong suit of Sigma lenses - this lens feels sturdy, well built. Overall I'm really loving it!
So far the lens has performed well for me. That said, definitely make sure to purchase the tripod socket for it as well as it's a bit unwieldy by hand and too front-heavy to rely on a camera being the tripod attachment.I'm a warm-weather guy, so I haven't taken it out much yet, but the sample images I've tried so far, without a tripod, have been nice and crisp once I control my hand shakeThat said, bundle is so-so. The lens case didn't really fit the lens at all, so that was disappointing. The filters and other accessories are nice, though I don't think my use-cases will justify the other components.
I only just received this lens, and I am by no means a professional, but I have to say that the OIS is absolutely astounding. I took some test shots of birds on my feeders about 50 feet away with this lens mounted on my A6400 and OIS on/off made a huge difference. I don't know what kind of voo-doo magic they put into this "new" system, but it is remarkable. At an effective 600mm I could hand hold shots on moving birds with zero issues.Along with that, the AF performance was superb in my limited testing. *MAKE SURE TO SET THE SELECTOR SWITCH TO THE CORRECT RANGE FOR WHICH YOU ARE SHOOTING*. I made this mistake and had it on 0-infinity and AF was taking forever. Once set appropriate AF was nearly instant and exceptionally accurate.
I had the Nikon version before switching to Sony. Both were VERY sharp.AF is fast enough.The lens is light enough to use handheld but sometimes a tripod is the way to go. The Sigma collar is stupid expensive. The Haoge LMR-SM140S is 1/3 the cost and work fine.I switched to Sony for travel and this is a good long lens solution for wildlife destinations when the trip isn't all about photography.
