This lens is outstanding! The sharpness is magnificent and the colors are amazing! What I love the most of this lens is the fast focusing. I'm very happy with this purchase. Just what I need it. Highly recommend!! You will not regret it.

Great lens. Nice 3d pop, rendering, sharpness wide open. The vignetting works great for portraits, I have zero complaints on image quality. I just wish it was smaller, like the sigma 24mm dg dn, or the 85mm dg dn, but still not a large lens, balances well on my Panasonic S5. Only con, it's not as fast in AF as the 85 dg dn, which surprised me considering all the marketing around how fast this lens' AF is.

Much better than expected, has amazing contrast and micro contrast, very nice rendering and 3d pop! The bokeh is a little too smooth like the 24mm dg dn that I also have, would have liked a little more character like the 85mm dg dn (still the best in the series) and the 35mm dg dn (which has awesome slight swirl, but a bit flat in rendering)! Overall very satisfied with this lens!

Very fast, relatively sharp lens with minimal defraction, used specifically for aurora and astro for a season and pretty happy with it. Very comparable to the sony 20mm 1.8, but takes up about twice the space in your camera bag. Over all a pretty good lens for the money.
AF is great, although I have seen other comments on the contrary. On my SL2s it is smooth and quick. The re-design and the new line of these L/E mount DG DN ART are great value all around.I compared it to my Leica APO 50mm SL... Yes, there is a difference and the Leica build and color are exceptional, but the AF in the Sigma is quicker and it is a stop faster with the f1.4 for about a quarter of the price. That said, the results SOOC with the APO are just exceptional. But as an everyday do everything for a great price, the DG DN ART is a great value and holds its weight.
Just received the lens so no time for full evaluation. I have had the HSM 20mm for Canon and have used on Sont A7r4 with Metabones adapter. I have enjoyed the HSM lens for use in low light but used sparingly due to weight and fear of damaging front element during casual use. I bought the DG,DN lens because I figured I would get to use it more often but did not consider the improvement in photo IQ or video performance. I saw a couple of reviews comparing Sony 1.8 stating the Sony was a little sharper and I was not expecting a large increase in the IQ over old HSM. I think I was wrong. So far with only about 100 test images, this lens appears to be a definite improvement over the HSM. New Lens also much better for video since no adapter needed. Other than vignetting, this lens is a monumental step forward in 20mm lens technology! I also wish the lens hood were a little tiny bit smaller in diameter so it wouldn't be such a tight squeeze in my custom fit case previously configured to hold six A7R Mark IVa cameras and one A1, all with prime lenses mounted and with grips ready to grab and start shooting, all in a smaller case than a typical big backpack, small enough to fit into an ordinary fold up wagon and leave room for a basket of flowers and other props, plus lights!
The sigma 50 1.4 DGDN is an absolute must for a wedding photographer . Partner it with a Sony a7iv and there is nothing that will stand in the way of you achieving Tack sharp images with outstanding bokeh even with fast moving clients .
This lens is incredible. Look beautiful ?? image quality wow... Very sharp, I like color sigma. 20mm perfect for me and with my a7IV and APSC crop, it's almost 35mm
There haven't been a lot of reviews yet of the newer DG DN 20mm f1.4 Art lens for L mount. Yes it is expensive, but matches Lumix full frame cameras perfectly. I am a regular B&H customer, but this lens was sourced here i n Canada. The 20mm with the ridge for an astrophotography dew heater is so good as to be a value proposition. It's sharp wide open, but I chose a test sample image taken @ f2.If for architecture, such wide lenses must be held dead level to prevent vertical lines converging. The 24mm lens in the series is an option, with all the same features less the heater ridge.
