I was really worried at first but this seems to happen on all 70-200 f/2.8 lenses because they're heavy and amplify the play which all lenses have.EXTRA INFO:-Customization: If you get the Nikon version of the lens you'll need the Sigma USB dock to program the custom settings. I was kind of disappointed that the three function buttons around the lens are limited to changing AF functionality. I use them in the factory AF-lock mode, but it would be cool if they could be used to customize other settings as well.

I'm an amateur photographer, just entering the patch of photographer for life. The is the 3rd lens I've added to my collection and it did not let me down. I'm sure if someone was to look at the photos taken with this lens with an extremely critical eye, they find things to nitpick. But for me, my recreational approach to photography, my crop sensor, this lens is well worth the money when compared to the cost of other 70-200 f/2.8 lenses on the market and the opposite end of the spectrum the starter lenses you can buy for 1/2 the cost.There is one item that I surprised by though, and that's how much 4lbs feels like after shooting free handed for an hour. I was really excited about this lens after reading reviews and watching videos comparing the Sigma to it's Nikon and Tamron equivalents. This lens did not meet my expectations based on reviews. It did not work for me on the Nikon D600. I could not get sharp images from f4 to f2.8 at shutter speeds ranging from 800 to 1,600 in daylight, early evening light, or under the lights at football stadiums. I am using the lens to specifically shoot sporting events that often end under stadium lights. I always got beautiful crisp, tack sharp shots on my Nikon 300mm f4 prime lens with the D600, but really need a 2.8 for evening/night games. I am hoping to make an exchange for the Tamron, as the Nikon version is such a high price point.

I bought this lens in a bit of a hurry as I was travelling to Le Mans 24hr race and realised my Nikon 200-500mm may struggle in low light. Admittedly I had been planning on purchasing this lens eventually but ended up doing so much sooner than expected.I'm glad I did though! The lens is very good quality and focuses quickly, I was able to get some decent shots in low light and in the day time I felt I got more good shots than I did with my 200-500mm. Also it is considerably cheaper than the equivalent Nikon lens.I've attached a couple of shots I got with this lens on my D500. Bare in mind I'm a amateur and do this as a hobby... I'm sure a pro could do a lot more with this lens!
I purchased this lens from B&H primarily for portraits and events. I paired it with a Nikon D850 and took some sunrise photos at the beach as it's first outing. It focuses very quickly, was sharp edge to edge and had beautiful color. It's manual focus ring and zoom ring are smooth but it took a bit to get used to their position which are reversed from most of my lenses. The lens is a little heavier than the native Nikon but it has a rugged, high quality appearance and feel. I am very impressed with both the quality of the lens and the images it produces. I also have the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 art and the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 art lenses which I love and highly recommend, which is why I purchased this lens. Used this yesterday for a shoot. Size and weight was what was expected but I'm still getting used to the opposite rotation to zoom. Being on the Nikon system, it has me rotating the other direction. Will save as much as possible to get the Z mount 70-200. Should be lighter by 1lb. More manageable.

It sounded like it was going to be similarly sharp and fast as the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 but for $1000 less.When I first got the lens I loved it. But after a few weeks of use, I noticed during a photoshoot that I was missing focus on the eye on the majority of my shots. I went home and calibrated the lens. I had to adjust it by -17 points which is getting close to the maximum adjustments you can make in camera. This made it so the central focus point was accurate. A few weeks after that, the lens stopped focusing at all while photographing my dog. There was a very concerning plunk noise inside the lens and it began to focus again. If I turn off my calibration, the central focus point is soft but the peripheral points are accurate. SO frustrated and the lens will need to be serviced if not replaced. So far Sigma's customer service has been very difficult to work with. Beyond disappointed. If you have the money, spring for the native lens for your body.
Thanks to B & H, I grabbed one of these couple of weeks ago when the price went down below $1000. I was nervous first. I have been always loyalty to Nikon brand but the Nikon lens is more than the double of Sigma and Tamron lenses. Based on the reviews, I took a chance and I am glad I did. As previous buyers say, this lens is heavier by about 400 grams but the sharpness and image quality is excellent. I have a Nikon D810. I set up the ISO setting to Auto ISO and minimum shutter speed to 1/500 seconds. With Aperture priority mode set up, you just have to play with focus and adjust the debt of field. I am getting great results. I highly recommend this lens. Price point was right for me and quality is excellent. I am not disappointed.

It's heavy, but I'll be honest, I like heft in my lenses (I've always equated it with a quality build - which this definitely is). I can't wait to use this lens for more shoots in the near future!
