Simplecom NB407 USB Bluetooth 4.0 Widcomm Adapter Wireless Dongle with A2DP EDR

This thing fell apart within 5 minutes of using it. When removing it from the USB port the connector shroud fell off. It won’t work in Windows without it’s proprietary driver (Windows won’t auto detect and get it ready to work). So, it doesn’t seem to comply with native USB protocols. Don’t buy this if you’re trying to add bluetooth to anything where you can’t install its proprietary USB driver, it just won’t work.

Appears to be a good quality product at a good price, but it just won't do the job!!

I can't really rate this product as effective, as I have been unable to get it to work properly on my laptop. According to Windows diagnostics, the dongle is working properly, but I have not been able to get it to pair any bluetooth devices with the laptop. I understand that many users have had a similar problem getting the device to operate correctly in Windows 7, due to difficulty getting the correct drivers to install to get the dongle operating. I have tried every workaround I can find to get it operating, but with no success!

Great little bluetooth dongle

Works without issue in windows and linux. Also works flawlessly on macOS (and hackintoshes) by adding two kexts. It has great range and provides stable connections. Only possible negative to some would be that it isnt a bluetooth adapter with nvram onboard, so keyboard connections dont persist during reboots (i.e. to enter the bios etc). Great little bluetooth dongle for the price, would highly recommend.

Great little device

This is a great little device. I wanted one that was branded but still cheap and this does the job. I had no issue installing this on my Windows 7 HTPC and works like a charm. All my Bluetooth devices were detectable and usable without fault. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't have Bluetooth on their PCs.

Okay but limited range

Audio quality over A2DP was surprisingly good, but I got desynced the moment I left line-of-sight. Works on Linux but you'll probably need a proprietary Broadcom firmware blob, I got mine from winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware on github. Model number / USB ID you're looking for is BCM20702A1-0a5c-21ec.

Restored missing Bluetooth settings on device

Hoping this review helps others who also encountered BLUETOOTH issues following recent Windows 10 upgrade/s especially if you are using a similar older touchscreen/smart desktop PC. In our case, Windows 10 killed/removed/deleted Bluetooth ie never to be seen again. Hence, lost connection to other BT devices as well as unable to add new ones. Even recommended technical/configuration solutions found online were futile. And so, we purchased this BT dongle as an alternative solution. Plug and play, the BT settings can now be seen/accessed again on our PC. Bluetooth restored - problem solved! Thank you, Simplecom:)

Simple and efficient

I highly recommend this product. I'm not a tech savvy and it was quite easy for me to set it up and enjoy it. I already connected my external keyboard, headphones and mouse to my lap. Just a saviour! Also, really good service from the guys. Got my product in the estimated date.

Simplecom USB Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle

Simple to use, works well. Solved the tremendous frustrations of getting a reliable Bluetooth link. Well worth the small amount of extra money compared to cheaper Bluetooth Dongles

Very Impressed !

I needed to purchased a Bluetooth adapter to be able to transfer files between our new PC and an old PC which did not come with Bluetooth. I read reviews of Bluetooth adapters of various brands on the market and was less than happy with most of them. Some of the other brands were selling for more than double the price of what I paid for the Simplecom adapter. When I read the specifics about the Simplecom adapter and some of the reviews, coupled with the brilliant price, my mind was made up. When I received the adapter, it was very easy to install & performed the tasks perfectly.

Windows 10

The most up to date Windows 10 drivers didn't play well with my system. The devices couldn't be discovered and Windows would disable the device after a restart because of problems. Everything works perfectly without installing the drivers though. Go figure.
