I'm on my second F and P Simplus having used ResMed for many years. The fitting is good for me. I now use a medium size whereas I had a large Resmed. The straps are comfortable and two things make it a great mask for me; nothing touches my forehead which is something I hate about other makes and the exhaust is directed up and away so not directly towards my wife's face. This mask does have its flaws though. The exhaust holes are many and very small (approx 1mm diameter). so where's the problem? None until the mask vent is cleaned with anything other than plain, distilled water. Whatever is used will narrow the holes so they become organ pipes that give you a full and loud fanfare of 'music' when exhaling especially at low pressures. This is well documented in the internet but F and P have, it appears, failed to do anything about it. The design of a separate cushion holder and strap section is good as the mask can be cleaned without the problem of having to remove the straps, however; the clip action between the two parts is very poor causing the mask to separate when re-positioning. Try aligning and fitting that together in the middle of the night without waking your partner! Similarly, the straps are connected by flimsy plastic hooks with no robustness to them so can break quite easily with too much pressure. Definitely not as strong as having a closed loop strap holders as on other masks. Having said that, I have yet to have one break on me. (Famous last words?) Would I buy another? Yes, I'm about to and the answer to why is purely "better the devil you know"!

I recently purchased a Fischer and Paykel Simplus CPAP Full Face Mask with headgear. The previous time I purchased, I had only purchased the mask and I wanted to make sure that I matched up the correct headgear with the mask. I texted my question via the chat room and a short time later I received an email response with a link to what I wanted to order. I used the website to order and received order promptly.

I am a faithful CPAP user. Therefore, I wear out a mask at a pretty good rate. I have been looking for somewhere I could get my mask, headgear and tubing at a more reasonable price. I think I have found it. Online ordering was easy. Shipment was quick. Pleased with transaction

Used to struggle with ResMed and Respironics masks: ill-fitting, poorly-manufactured and badly-designed; durability was always an issue with these masks, nasal or full-face. I was lucky if I got 3 months out of a mask; the headgear would rot away after 1 year or so. Not F&P - big improvement over the ResMed and Respironic lines. The only issue is that F&P masks are made for use with F&P CPAP/APAP equipment - they have an extremely high leak rate, which requires a durable and powerful turbine (160L/min), which F&P machines have. ResMed and Respironics CPAP/APAP machines, which allow for significant rebreathing of exhaled air, are dependent on low leak masks and are built with mediocre turbines, which barely produce 100L/min at best - their turbine motors and ... MoreUsed to struggle with ResMed and Respironics masks: ill-fitting, poorly-manufactured and badly-designed; durability was always an issue with these masks, nasal or full-face. ResMed and Respironics CPAP/APAP machines, which allow for significant rebreathing of exhaled air, are dependent on low leak masks and are built with mediocre turbines, which barely produce 100L/min at best - their turbine motors and circuitry tend to burn out quickly under the continuous high flow conditions which F&P equipment requires. This is also an important safety issue: rebreathing of exhaled air can lead to performance issues during the day, since you're not getting fully oxygenated air during the night. If you have a mission-critical job, such as piloting a plane or train, or something that requires you to be 100% alert on the job, buy F&P machines/equipment; if your life is less demanding during the day, you can go with a company's products that are less demanding, as well, like ResMed.
This head gear & mask are good, comfortable & secure. I can get between 6 months to 1 years use from the set before having to replace. It's fairly easy to clean & wipe down. I've been using this style mask & head gear for two years now. I've looked at others but not convince that some items such as magnetic snaps will be secure enough for me as I tend to toss & turn a lot & sleep on my side. Hope this review helps. God Bless.
Been using the Simplus mask by Fisher and Paykel for over 3 years. I have a full beard, sometimes stubbly, sometimes heavy metal long. This mask fits wonderfully regardless of the length. The silicone gasket seals very well. When you first use the mask, take the time to get the strap adjustments right. And do not forget the over-head strap. The strap affects how the gasket seals against a beard and against the bridge of the nose. Pros: Durable components. Clean daily with dishwashing liquid and hot water. I use alcohol swabs on the flexible headgear to kill off the nasties. Very comfortable silicon seal, especially with a long beard. Easily adjustable. Cons: The reason for not getting the 5th star is due to having to clear the exhaust holes if too much moisture ... MoreBeen using the Simplus mask by Fisher and Paykel for over 3 years. Cons: The reason for not getting the 5th star is due to having to clear the exhaust holes if too much moisture builds up in the mask overnight. When they block up, the whistling sound can get pretty annoying. If I could give it a 1/2 star, this would be a 4 1/2 star mask. All in all, very satisfied with this mask system. No need to purchase another brand.
I was a bit shy to purchase this mask at first. I have been using a gel nasal cushion mask for about 8 years. I liked it, but to keep it from leaking at the base of my nose, I had to have the straps very tight. It did not bother me, so, I thought all is well. Fast forward to a month ago, and my dentist tells me that I am applying pressure to the upper 6 front teeth and it (and my grinding) were causing my front teeth to loosen. I am 46!!!! At this point, releasing the pressure of the mask was one of my top priorities. Since this had a 30 day trial, I decided to try it.This full face works like a charm. It has a rollfit cushion that keeps it off the bridge of my nose and it does not have to be too tight on my chin. It has a rollfit cushion that keeps it off the bridge of my nose and it does not have to be too tight on my chin. I know other reviewers have had leaks, and I used to also... but now I use the RemZZZ's. 1) soaks my oily skin, and 2) it stops air leaks. Gosh, I sound like a commercial! But for me it works. One woman said it annoyed her that the inner part of the mask would fall off when she got up to the bathroom. She was right, I had the same problem. (a small piece of tape at the top of where the forehead bar would have been works wonderfully.) And having no forehead bar is a blessing. Another review said they did not like that they had to keep it tight or the side clips come undone. Fixed that too, by taking one side off the clip, and threading directly through the mask and Velcro it shut, the one clip on one side stays on. It's super comfy for side sleeping...but once in a while on my back, and with the Remzzz on it does leak at the chin. I think my cushion size is too big (even though I measured it with their provided sizing tool.) it is really quiet and the air is gently exiting higher on the mask, so I can't feel it on my hands. (I sleep with them near my chin.)So far, 2 draw backs- it goes through my humidifier water really fast. The other is that I think their sizer is just a little bigger. I have a large cushion now and I am ordering a medium. It is different for everyone, just keep trying until one works for you! Good luck.
Feels like lower quality product from Res Med masks I’m accustomed to. There’s a consistent leak where the frame meets the mask although it seals around the face okay. I tried adjusting the headgear, still leaked, so I rigged it with foam and it’ll have to do. I ordered liners with the hope of making it even more comfortable. Overall, 3 stars.
In some respects this is a very stylish (ff a cpap mask can be stylish) mask. Like many other Fisher and Paykel products, they were apparently shooting for high end buyers who buy for name and flash. The design of this mask just flows. It's even pretty. At first glance and use I thought I'd love it. There's really two separate masks with the face-facing one being attached to the outer, forward mask. The air line (very well designed) comes between these two masks, deflecting noise. But, the problem lies in the connection of these two pieces. The inner mask is supposed to snap into the forward-facing mask or plate. But it does a terrible job of making and keeping this connection. Wake up to go to the restroom, and when you rest your mark on the floor, these two ... MoreIn some respects this is a very stylish (ff a cpap mask can be stylish) mask. Wake up to go to the restroom, and when you rest your mark on the floor, these two sections separate. Great. Now, when you come back to bed, you have to reattach. This is an absolutely key connection to make this mask work well. Now, instead of going right back to sleep, I'm messing with putting the mask together. This is my chief complaint. I can't recommend this mask unless improvements are made in design.
This mask may work fine, but Fisher and Paykel saraficed ease of use for ease of cleaning with this design, making it not really worth the cost and annoying to use. The problem is the overall design. I believe Fisher and Paykel wanted to make it easy to take apart to clean this mask, but they made it TOO EASY. It won't stay together unless you are actually wearing it. For example, in the middle of the night when you get up to use the bathroom and put back on the mask you will find that it has come completely apart. The hose connector (not the hose but the plastic part that connects to the hose from the mask) my have come off and stuck in the hose or on the floor. This mask's design makes it hard to get back together in the dark, so you can go right back to sleep. I don't know how many times I've had to turn on the lights to find missing parts, making the overall design hard to use.
