I am very happy with my Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine and the bargain price for which I was able to purchase it. I do a lot of sewing (everyday) and sew both fabric and leather. I needed a heavier duty sewing machine for the amount of sewing I do as well as the added thickness of some of my work. This machine threads easily, top thread and bobbin thread, is easy to operate, glides over bulkier layers of fabric and/or leather and the machine maintenance is straightforward. I especially like that the stitch rate can be superfast. I anticipate I will be using this machine for many years to come!

I've had this machine for more than three years now and I love it. I've had way fancier and certainly much pricier machines that I didn't like half as much. It is a simple, fuss-free machine with a good array of stitch-types and adjustments, an automatic buttonhole function, and a strong, reliable motor. With a bigger needle, it will punch through pretty much anything you can fit under the foot. It's absolutely perfect for beginners, but I've been sewing for thirty years and it's everything I need for my projects, which include fine apparel, crafts, and home decor. Price-wise, this machine simply cannot be beat for value and reliability. I actually bought a second one in case Singer stops making this model!

Great range of stitch choices, compact, easy to set up. Only thing to bear in mind is the speed is fairly quick even when just lightly using the peddle, I'm an intermediate level and find it quite rapid! You get adjusted quickly though. Great price from Dunelm, even better deal than ex display or singer outlet. 2 year guarantee included too which isn't specified on the description here. Day early on delivery too!

Easy to use, but I don't know why it's considered heavy duty. I made some box cushion covers and had constant jams and the timing kept getting off. It was easy enough to open up and adjust, but it literally happened every 20 minutes. Eventually I noticed the worm gear was stripped. I can't seem to find that replacement part anywhere, so I have to buy a new machine.I think this is probably fine for very light materials, but I wouldn't recommend it for any heavier fabrics. I guess for the price, you shouldn't expect more, but I don't think they should advertise it as heavy duty.
Machine is a nice basic heavy duty machine. I purchased so I could easily take to classes instead of my expensive huskvarna. It works well, however, basic maintenance of removing lint from the bobbin area is not in the manual. All of my other machines manuals suggest cleaning under the black bobbin holder - which in those machines it just pops out. This one required a YouTube video in order to get it out and clean under it. Customer service is not helpful and suggested I take it to a dealer for a $100 “repair” when all that was needed was a quick cleaning. (Please use you tube at your discretion- it worked for me - but I don’t claim to know anything about anything)
This is my first heavy duty machine and I’m really happy. I’ve spent years with a standard model making curtains etc. but something always went wrong, so it’s lovely having a machine that will be able to handle multiple layers easily! I’m still getting used to a different set up, but I love the top loader bobbin and the fact that you can see it, always a worry previously. The cotton reel on the top seems more stable sideways. Loading cotton onto the bobbin was a breeze! Invisible zip sewed on perfectly. Really pleased I made the investment! Oh - and I love the sound of it!
I sew every day, in particular I make a lot of cushions so the idea of a workhorse of a machine definitely appealed, especially as my old Bernina was well past its best. I liked the idea of a machine that sewed faster - this definitely does but it makes a rather worrying amount of noise - it slightly concerns me that something will burn out before long. It’s easy to use & I particularly like the position of the reverse lever, ( I hated it on my Bernina, combined with the stitch length ). I was surprised that such a chunky machine would have such a flimsy foot pedal which easily gets kicked into the chaos under my work desk. Similarly, the little flimsy piece of plastic which covers the bobbin, these both seem like false economies to me. As soon as you take them out of the boxes you realise you are dealing with top quality, elegant beasts able to do the whole range of work required in an active families lifestyle, from silk underwear to thick outdoor clothing and beyond. Edited review. My daughter has changed her mind and admits that the learning curve affected her first review of this machine. It works wonderfully! The tension is still an issue, but hopefully that too will make sense soon. I tried it and out of all the singers we’ve had, this runs smoothest. The lightness of the foot pedal, and the needle threader is something to get used to, but all in all, this machine performs beautifully. The extension table is a game changer. Wish we’ve had one for years.
This machine makes pudding out of tough work. I have gone through several less strong machines over the years, always to be disappointed. Hopefully no more. Yes, it is pedal driven, unlike some other machines. And that is a shame, but that is the only draw back. The body is solid and it weighs a bit more with less fancy stitches. But, it does what it needs to, and that us sew. The dogs can be lowered for free style quilting. Went through felt as easy as thick denim with stuffing and other fabrics. The instructions booklet can be downloaded for free. Money well spent.
