The finder scope is nearly useless due to not being angled in the same direction as the telescope's main eyepiece and needs to be replaced. If you are standing or seated you must get up each time and bend underneath the scope to see the larger field of view.2. This could be due to lack of collimation noted in previous point above.Still deciding if I made the right choice for young astronomers. Need more time in field conditions to know for sure. Will try again over 4th of July with a collimator. Hoping that resolves it.

This will probably sound dumb, but it's bigger than I thought it would be. I've only had a chance to use it twice because it's been so cold, but I took it out last night to look at the moon and the view was stunning. Crisp detail on the craters. Feb is not a good month for planets this year so the only other thing I've had a chance to observe was Orion's Nebula, which will be more satisfying once I get some more powerful lenses. I'm hoping anyway. This is my first telescope so I don't have much to go on, but I love it. The four stars is mostly for the fact that I haven't had it very long and I'm a novice and don't really know what I'm talking about. My only criticism is it's awkward to move. It's not too heavy but the placement of the handle doesn't really help ... MoreThis will probably sound dumb, but it's bigger than I thought it would be. After reading a review of this item I opted to order the 16 inch version. I didn't realize how large it was and would have ordered the 12 inch model. But, the product is well constructed and should last a long time, no problems there. Also, I had a delivery issue that turned out not to be a delivery issue. After making a claim with UPS and informing High Point, I asked my wife about it and found that we had indeed received the item. Well, now to the point. Great Entry Level Telescope
15 August 2022

I am new to astronomy, and after a lot of research I settled on this dobsonian. I was cautiously optimistic about how well it would preform, and I was absolutely blown away by it. It is incredibly easy to set up and use. The first night I used it, I spent a couple of hours looking at the moon and was able to track down Saturn. I bought an astrophotography camera and it works well with this telescope for capturing planets. I would highly recommend this telescope for a beginner starting out.

This scope is what is widely considered the gateway into seeing more than fuzzy blobs and bright lights. It's not going to open up tremendous detail, but with the right conditions and eyepieces you can dip your toe into the form of some nebulae and galaxies as well as see the bands of jupiter, rings of saturn and poles of mars. At this price point that is something remarkable. On the downside, it's big and unwieldy. power at the expense of finesse. No fancy controls to guide you other than your two hands and whatever app or chart you have at your disposal. On the plus side, the movement is smooth and can be adjusted to your preference. Not suitable for astrophotography. Nonetheless, I connected my camera for some cool shots of Jupiter and moon. Hi:The telescope is good. Functions very well.I really wish this telescope would have a built in, sturdy carrying handle to make ease of transport safer but you have to carry it with both arms very carefully.Otherwise I recommend this telescope.Peter

Love My 6 inch
24 March 2023

I have yet to see a definitive difference between an 8" or 6". With this 6", I can see just as many deep space objects as an 8". What sold me was the Pinwheel Nebula. I could NOT tell any difference at all; maybe the 6" was a tiny fraction fuzzier but I'm nitpicking at this point. I could've bought any dobsonian I wanted along with size, could've bought an 8 and many people told me to ask a first scope....why when the 6" is every bit the telescope an 8" is. Can't go wrong if you buy this scope!

Simple, well-made Newtonian at a fantastic price

When it comes to value, this Sky-Watcher Dob is ideal (for less than $500--what a deal!). Plus B&H has the 150P model in stock as of this writing while so many online sellers are out-of-stock or back ordered. Fast, safe delivery by B&H is a big plus. The 150P 6 is large enough to gather light for quality deep sky observing, and light enough to lift and transport--but the tube is longer than it looks in photos. Collimation was nearly spot on from the factory (you still should inspect the imaging before using). The focuser is a tad wobbly, but you can work with it or replace it with a better device down the road. A good starter 'scope; even good for an advanced amateur since an 8 doesn't really add that much clarity in my opinion. You'll have to learn the night sky to use the 150P as there are no pricey go to electronics with the 150P. Oh, like so many telescopes today, this is manufactured in the PRC but by a well-respected Chinese manufacturer founded by an astronomer.

There are a few big improvements could be done on it. The finder scope is horrible and theres a better way to take the scope off the pedestal really yet other than that Im very pleased with the product only other thing was it was not calibrated very good, so I had to work on that for a while but all is fine now thank you so much.
