Learn how to assemble the unit during the daylight hours, can be a bit fiddly at night unless you know what you are doing. This is a solid equatorial mount for astrophotography, well priced and reliable . I have one small issue and that is you have to polar align the unit before fitting the camera, have to be very careful during this process not to lose the alignment.Use your own camera remote control, not the in-built device

Excellent quality & reliability for an entry level EQ mount

The Sky Watcher Star Adventurer is a great entry level EQ mount. It has one or two flimsy touches like the battery cover (plastic & requires taping on), and the polar illuminator (which can fall off, and has no on/off switch, just battery removal to turn illuminator off!), but where it matters - the tracking motor and general construction quality it excels. Depending on your viewpoint this mount is either heavy or lightweight. This will depend on which spectrum of astrophotograpy you are at mount wise. For me, I can carry this mount on a sturdy(ish) aluminium tripod around and reposition it with ease. Bigger EQ mounts are really not this portable. Their £10K mount won't ever fit in their suitcase, this one does.I am actually very pleased with how well it tracks, and after doing fine polar alignment I have managed to do 3-4 minute tracked exposures with it. It can also carry a reasonable payload of say DSLR+battery pack +70-200mm F2.8 lens as long as you use the supplied counterbalancing arm. I use mine in conjunction with a quality Manfrotto ball head mount attached to it for ease of changing camera position. All I need is more clear dark skies now...

I bought the Star Adventurer to try my hand at Astro Photography. Sadly, to date, clouds and bright moons have limited it's use. Set-up was surprisingly easy and on my first outing I managed 90 second exposures with my 6D/50mm combination with no ,to my unexperienced eye, signs of star-trailing.

Love this bit of kit! I purchased the pro kit so I could use my long lens as well as wide angle. OK It's built very nicely with a couple of cheap bits. Metal build chassis unit is good! Plastic battery cover is not tight enough when clipped in and can be knocked off when viewfinder/polarscope cover is not on giving the battery cover extra support. Little plastic red light for the polar scope alignment is cheap but works. The instructions actually make it seem more complicated than it is to polar align. The equatorial mount has a plastic tightening lever this does not act as a lock off to the adjustment dial as it would appear so do not! Over tighten expecting it to be set as it will just chew the levers nut surround inside. I use this with a canon 90d and a ... MoreLove this bit of kit! Over tighten expecting it to be set as it will just chew the levers nut surround inside. I use this with a canon 90d and a samyang/Ronikon 14mm 2.8 I've powered it with regards chargeable aa bate rise and now use a USB bank to power it and lens warmer. I find that the level bubble on the e/mount when centralised combined with the angle you need for you longitude is easy, accuracy is down to you. I set this up using the sky-watcher mini app as it has all you need info wise, your position and polaris position required in polar scope. Moumt facing north Put polaris where it's supposed to be in the scope and lock it all off weigh down your tripod prior to setting. Use the balllhead or plate with counter weight, point your camera at desired point to be followed in the sky and turn the dial to star track (1 of 7 tracking modes) the ability to have no start trails on exposures in the minutes is fantastic! Dropping your iso and noise levels makes a massive difference to the image achievable. I've used this 3 times now and just wow!!!! Yeh their are a few cheap plastic bits that mean being careful but overall bang for your buck and the expansion in your astro photography this little setup can provide is well worth it. My milky way shots just went from zero to hero! That budget samyang lens just became my superstar! This is a badly edited jpeg as I can't process raw or stack right now or use any proper programs lol. This is a 2min exposure stopped down to f4! Canon 90d samyang 14mm f2.8. On a 1/3 crescent moon night. It's a doddle to use! And loads of fun!

The Star Adventurer Pro 2I Pack is perfect for small telescopes or for astrophotography camera lenses of up to 200-300mm in focal length. Use the simple turn of the dial to select lunar, solar, or star tracking modes or four speeds from 0.5x to 12x to create interesting time-lapse videos with your DSLR. Moreover, it contains pre-programmed parameters to assist your DSLR via the optional shutter release cable. The Star Adventurer mount features a V-style dovetail saddle for compatible accessories and optical tube assemblies. The mount can be supplied with 4 AA batteries or via a mini-USB port. It fits on most astronomical, photo, or video tripods via its 1/4 and 3/8 adaptor. Product Features in Detail Precise Polar Alignment The integrated Polar Scope with an included illuminator helps the polar alignment process in both the Northern or Southern hemispheres. That is a great advantage for achieving professional astronomical photos. The equatorial wedge is equipped with fine adjustment knobs in both azimuth and latitude axes for easily centering the celestial pole without moving the tripod. Additionally, the autoguide system enhances the tracking in the right ascension allowing longer exposures with telephoto lenses. Best for Astrophotography Stars are not stationary due to the Earth's rotation. Therefore, it's tough to capture them in photographs. However, the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2I Pro allows long exposure to track the stars. Thanks to the high-precision motor and built-in polar scope, you can compensate for the star's movement by rotating the camera to the opposite direction of the Earth. The result is that the celestial objects in the camera's field of view do not move, eliminating star trails.
