So I'm using this with a dummy battery (usb-c) for my A7IV. The problem is I can't use the dummy battery through the usb-c port and have another equipment charging from the usb-a port simultaneously, it'll cut down the usb-c power, which is not enough power to power my camera through the dummy battery. This means I can only use the usb-c to power my camera and leave the usb-a alone. It's weird I know. I had to get some dc cables to usb-c to be able to charge other items.I also got a zgcine v-mount battery with two usb-c ports, and that works fine, so not sure what's going on here. That's a cheaper battery but allows me to use both usb-c ports while using my dummy battery.I'm sticking with this battery because I like the screen, and because I found solutions to ... I don't use any V-Mount gear so I can't speak to that, but the plethora of ports on this thing and the wide range of USB power implementation is fantastic. The screen tells you exactly what is going on with each port when in use, and what voltage devices are requesting/receiving. It handles just about every USB power standard I know of, and claims to have quite a few safety protections for peace of mind.I use this to power my entire location recording rig: Zoom F8n Pro, a standalone stereo mic pre, even a laptop, screen, or camera if I need to. I charge the battery itself over USB C with a standard 65W laptop charger, which takes remarkably little time. Actually living the consumer DC power unification originally promised by USB C years ago is pretty ... Same general features and ports.

These packs are cute and work for low draw, consumer-ish situations but they are not made for professionals. They can't handle the load when putting on a professional camera. I had this on a Komodo with a Tilta Vmount plate and the battery repeatedly cut out causing production to stop. I then tried it on a FS5 with a WC plate and same behavior. If you want to use this as a hobbyist, they'll work albeit expensive. If you are a professional who relies on your equipment to 'pay your bills', choose AB or Core, those packs are designed for professionals....and are around the same price.

This is a great battery. Its about the same size and weight as the Watson Pro Micro V-Mount but has more ports. It will fit on the Watson V-Mount UPS or Dual Plate UPS or Dual Plate Charger. The ports for the 8v and 12v are slightly different sized jacks. This was likely done as a safety measure. The barrel connector is different.
I wanted a single power solution for my Canon C70 and on-camera monitor, and this battery works well. With a few port options, I have several ways to power my monitor while leaving the d-tap available for the C70. A great solution when I don't want to swap various batteries throughout the shoot. Really like the size, the screen and the sleek look of this battery, and I plan on buying more.
Really good!I use it with my Eos r5c. I can do a whole wedding day with this battery. As always, when not shooting I unplug the camera from the usb-c because it charges the battery even when the camera is off. I would imagine a dummy battery would resolve this issue. The battery life and screen are everything! You can find V-mount batteries cheaper, but having a display with battery life puts me at ease!
This battery is great! It kept my current setup going for a full morning without having to shut it off or swap batteries (bmpcc6kG2, Ronin RS3Pro, Raveneye, follow focus, and an iPhone).A big plus is the size as it allows me to mount on the gimbal with the camera, but I still prefer to mount it on the handle.I already dropped it once on concrete (accidentally) and the battery held up pretty good!
V-Mount batteries that don't break the bank and can charge without specific/expensive/cumbersome chargers? Count me in! Unfortunately, these things seem don't really hold up. I have two, one of them charges reasonably fast using usb-c and seems to last a decent amount of time (though still much less than other non small rig v-99 batteries.) The second charges painfully slow (I'm talking 12+ hours) and seems to die considerably faster than the other as well. Maybe once they fix the QC issues they'll be worth it?
I just purchase the Smallrig 99 V-Mount battery and I'm having some issues. Sorry for the long review. I'm trying to power the Canon R5 using the USB-C. The specs for this battery are adequate to power or charge the camera. I have tried 4 different PD-compliant cables including the one that came with the camera and all cables function basically the same way. If you connect the Smallrig battery using USB-C it will not activate or "turn on" the Smallrig LCD screen when the Canon camera power is turned on. The screen on theSmallrig battery stays OFF. If you unplug and re-plug the cable, leaving the R5 camera power on, the camera will acquire a "handshake" and the battery will power the camera. If you unplug and re-plug the cable, leaving the R5 camera power on, the camera will acquire a "handshake" and the battery will power the camera. The Canon camera battery icon on the LCD screen turns gray which indicates the camera is using the Smallrig battery for power. Also, once the"handshake" has happened, the LCD screen on the Smallrig battery will show the current state of charge of the Smallrig battery along with other USB charge information. When the Canon internal battery is less than 100% the Smallrig battery will charge the Canon battery when the camera is OFF. The Canon and the Smallrig will maintain the "handshake" and provide power when the Canon power switch is cycled on and off as long as the Canon internal battery is less than 100% BUT if the Canon internal battery is fully charged, the only way to get the Smallrig battery to provide power is to unplug and re-plug the USB-C cable while the camera is turned on. Another issue is when the Smallrig battery LCD screen is active and it is providing power to the Canon, the camera's power connection is lost if I plug any other device into the USB-A port. I have a battery-powered microphone and every time it is plugged into the Smallrig battery, no matter if the mic is fully charged or not, the power connection between the Smallrig and the camera is lost. If I have anything plugged into the Smallrig USB-A port I can no longer get the Smallrig to charge or "make contact" with the Canon camera via USB-C no matter what I do. I did some further testing after ordering the OnsiteTether tools PD Adapter. The adapter worked perfectly the second it was connected! The final issue I have is the power button on the Smallrig battery. The only thing the button does is turn on the LCD screen so you can see what the power percentage of the battery is. I have not been able to turn off the power to the USB or V-Tap ports using the power button. I connect the Ninja V directly to the Smallrig battery and held down the power button for 3+ seconds and the Ninja V never lost power. This is very disappointing because I had hoped this battery would meet all my needs to power the Canon camera, Ninja V, and microphone. So, because of the strange issues, it's my belief that this is a firmware issue OR I have a bad battery which is not likely. Smallrig needs to find a solution to this issue fast! Until then I'll probably have to send this battery back.
I'm waiting for these to come off back order but we've used one to power a Canon R5C and felt the need to respond Mike. He failed to do his research prior to writing his poor review and blaming the battery for not powering his R5 when in actually he was using the wrong cable. Dtap to Dummy battery is what we used to power the R5C and no issues. (The usb port on the R5 or R5C is just for connecting to computer or charging the NP battery - not powering it.) Secondly the power on the battery is just for the LCD display not to turn on and off the battery... yeah... use the power on whatever your battery is plugged into to turn that on and off. Has Mike never used a power bank before? If your device isn't drawing power from the battery, it'll stay charged - no need to ...
