I am more favorable towards this SmallRig Camera Cage for Sony FX30 and FX3 compared to its predecessor due to a variety of reasons:1. It enhances the camera's functionality by incorporating additional mounting points on the right side.2. It also ensures the right-side protection of the camera.3. The removing of the Rode holder, which was once inconveniently positioned on the top left, is a significant improvement.4. Finally, from a design perspective, this cage surpasses its predecessor, with a more pleasing aesthetic appeal.

In order to open the battery door, you have to push part of the bottom on the cage away. If you leave it, it blocks the battery door. Call me crazy but I find this extra step too cumbersome. I just want to be able to open the battery door with no problem. If this sounds like something that would bother you, I would not get this cage.
