I bought a few off-brand versions of these which tend to loosen over time and developed loose and stiff spots at various positions.For a few dollars more, these are MUCH nicer. The cold shoe mount is firm, the ports in the thumbscrew make it easy to go as tight as needed for whatever is being attached and the tension is consistent (and adjustable via the included allen wrench).

This is a great upgrade to the previous model. The ability to tilt the device, then lock it in place is brilliant and very much needed. GOOD JOB SMALLRIG! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Oh this thing just transformed my kit. I have a bulky articulating arm that was a vestige of previous larger format cameras, but looked ridiculous on my BMPCC6K, and sometimes flopped around under the weight of the monitor. It was so awkward that I never wanted to use it, which meant underutilizing my monitor. This beauty takes up so little space but provides incredible articulation while maintaining variable resistance to movement. It's a gem and I regret not having bought it long ago.

As always, it's the little things that matter the most, and this is of the best little items in my whole gear box. Works great with Feelworld LUT7S. Spend the $22 on this, because the bracket that comes with the monitor is HORRIBLE! I would also suggest the Smallrig locking cold shoe adapter to further protect from falling off. Best $13 investment to protect a $250 monitor!
Bought one of these for holding a monitor to a camera. Its useful and we really like the SmallRig brand for being affordable and making really quality bits for camera recording. It works really well so far and as was mentioned in the title, this thing feels like cold gun metal and has a nice heft to it in the hand but not too too much to weight the camera down.
Disappointing you need to carry around an allen wrench to adjust the tightness. Seems they could have just as easily designed the mount to use thumb screws so you could loosen and tighten it without needing a separate tool. Prefer the original Manfrotto LCD 492 since it is easier to adjust and tightens down firmly without needing to break your rhythm to simply adjust your monitor viewing angle and does not require carrying around an additional tool to do so. Big fan of Smallrig but this mount was a missed opportunity especially since it is a redesign of a previous flawed design.
After using this monitor mount for a couple months, I have to suggest looking elsewhere. Per my original review, the tilt axis becomes loose after only a few tilts. I have cranked down the Allen bolt many times, but sooner or later my monitor flops over and I have to re-tighten the tilt axis.The horizontal axis is extremely difficult to turn. Loosening the horizontal axis screw causes it to spin without friction, so maybe it is not meant to swivel at all. I can live without horizontal rotation, but the tilt axis is crucial for multiple camera positions.The reason for this update is that the tilt axis now works itself loose more often than when I first received it. Great monitor mount instead of the traditional ball head cold shoe mount. Works well with the top handle from Small Rig. Swivel aspect of the item did become loose after repeated use and did not hold in the needed position, but tightening with the allen wrench key fixed the issue.

The swivel and tilt friction can be adjusted with the supplied allen/hex key and it stays that way no matter how much I tilt or swivel during a shoot. The little group of holes in the tightening knob for the monitor/EVF is the feature that really stands out. It is difficult or sometimes even impossible to make the attachment tight enough by hand if you want to be swivelling it frequently and quickly. With this mount you can use the hex key as a lever in the holes to make it really, really tight. I have tried a number of monitor mounts, and they all seem to suffer issues with adjustability. This one is difficult to pivot, and needs frequent re-tightening of the tilt axis. I wish SmallRig put a thumb screw on the side instead of needing to locate an Allen wrench to fix this, but so it goes.Once adjusted, I can tilt the monitor (Ninja V) a dozen times or so before it becomes loose and needs attention.The compact size is great, and the tightening wheels are easy to grip.Although I complain about the tilting issue, I've tried other monitor mounts that have failed, and ultimately ended up buying a second one of this product for my other camera rig. It ain't perfect, but it will have to do.
