It is perfect for what I need, as I am not so much interested in the automated adjustments due to weather conditions, which I have not paid much attention to. It has notified me though that it was skipping watering because it was raining or was about to rain within a few hours. It is kind of far from my WiFi router but seems to be working well. The ability to ater any zone manually is important for tsting and setting up the sprinkler system - and worked fine even a hundred feet or more into the yard.

Do not buy this product. We had it mounted inside our garage about 20 ft from the router on the other side of a wall. It was a bit flaky from the beginning and would at times disconnect, but it ran. Bought this in April 2021, It died in July 2023. "No AC" error on the display screen. The wall plug was still live and the internal transformer was still producing 27.8 volts to the mainboard. Did all the troubleshooting with no results. Was on a chat for a warranty request with Orbitz for an hour before they finally told me they would not replace it because the 2 yr warranty period had expired. I will not be buying these anymore.

Overall this was pretty simple to set up. The unit seems solid and well made. The wiring terminations seem secure. The smartphone app works well.The price is good for a 12 circuit system with all the features.Having this controlled by app is just wonderful.There are some small irritations. The label over the terminal lugs is not quite sized correctly so it’s hard o tell which circuit you are connecting. The app assumes you have a six circuit controller and you have to fiddle with the settings on to find where they hid the other six. The smart weather features are fussy.

I have been using Orbit controllers for about 10 years. I recently upgraded 4 of my rental houses to this newer Bhyve model. It makes it so much easier to check on the systems. No longer, do I need to drive to each property, walk into the backyard, avoiding dogs and s.t.u.f.f. I asked each tenant to allow me to connect them to their home WiFi and now I can sit at home and adjust the programs (or anything for that matter). If someone's WiFi drops out for some reason, I can still go within sight of the controller and control it with Bluetooth. (outside the fence and away from the dogs.) The controller box is rated indoor/outdoor. My older controllers were in the same type box and they did just fine, outside. Provides reliable internet access to manage and control your sprinkler system. As with any smart technology there is a learning curve however most functions are fairly intuitive. It took me less than an an hour to swap out my old controller and install this. Another 30 minutes to set up my zones and a program cycle. Using the app is relatively straightforward. Recommended.

Let's start with the wifi enablement - it just doesn't work. No matter how many times you reset it, it won't work for more than a day or two. Then let's go to the bluetooth feature - that's a good back-up plan in theory, but in practice, it too stops working. And b/c these features fail the device starts to drain the batteries trying to connect to the wifi hub. Thus you're left with a device that dies each week. The app drops from WIFI often and you have to go into setting and give it a kick even though the router is 20ft away. I purchased Beta Hive to help water my new lawn and my old rainbird does not have enough flexibility to water 4 times per day. I'll be going back to that unitwhen my grass is in. DO not trust this unit, you have to baby sit it every day. In short it looks like it might be a good product some day if they can turn around their QA and spend some money on development but they are not there yet. Here is a idea for Beta Hyve, try having someone not familiar with your product test installing it using your directions. You would be amazed to learn how you've missed the mark. Rule of thumb is you don't have developers test there own Work. try you again(maybe) in a few years
I was able to configure the unit but WiFi setup was very sketchy insofar as I had to reset the system several times. The instructions are virtually useless and Customer Support - virtually non-existent as they take several days to respond to texts or phone calls to their support number and sometimes do not respond at all. The app (I have an iOS Apple iPhone) freezes and requires phone reboots to correct. The rain sensor feature does not function correctly and the unit runs even if the jumper is removed - tech support NEVER responded to my concerns about this. Thinking of replacing the unit with a Rain Bird controller - too many nuisance issues. FJT1

Only one other brand [Rachio] I'm aware of has this feature and it is a game changer. Take the guess work out of irrigation settings. This controller worked great in our recent Texas drought and it also conserves water during wet season as well as any other smart controller I've used [Rainbird, Hunter, Toro etc].
