Amazing quality

Amazing quality socks! I purchased Smartwool for the first time as part of a gift for my wife and we have since both switched to buying the brand exclusively for socks. There
is a light hiker to full cushion option and the quality is superior to any other socks I have purchased. They are on the more costly end, but as the expression goes, ‘you get
what you pay for’. And that is top quality with these socks. The color pattern options are fun to express yourself as well:)

Just saw that Moosejaw was doing 25% off, and I absolutely took advantage of that deal to get another pair of these socks. I am going to be wearing them for adventuring
3/4's of the year, depending on winter temps maybe even longer into the winter season. For the previous bunch of years I have gone with Darn Tough (which I am not
knocking at all in this review), however from now I will be going with this choice from now on, and over the last half year have used them many times, for hikes up to and over
20miles in the ADK and Catskills. These socks rock. Perfect thickness for me: light enough for summer, stout enough probably for everything except thicker sock... Show more

Great sock all around. The Smartwool sock have come a long way over the last few years.I have been buying various Smartwool socks for years now and they seem to be just
what you would expect, good but nothing remarkable and fairly durable. However in the last few years they have really advance the quality and performance of product. I
have always leaned towards thick sock that were just that, thick. Often this lead to issues where comfort was secondary as they tended to be hot or so thick the comfort of my
foot wear would beimpacted. The new lines have significant variation that allow a real custom fit which is pretty cool to me. The Performance Hike Light Cushion... Show more

Great cushioning right where you want and need it. I always pack at least one extra pair of socks and usually change them out at least once during the day, but on my last big hike for a few reasons I never took off my runners and did not change my socks during the 20miler, and my GoreTex runners definitely let some water in, and kept some in. But by the end of the long day I had no hotspots or blisters with just the one pair of socks. I think I am really getting more pairs so that I will be able to also wear them as my everyday socks, with how comfortable they are.... Show more

The Performance Hike Light Cushion Crew Socks might be my favorite pair right now, they are thick but not too thick, offer great cushion and ventilation and are easy to pull on and off, with no toe seam; an issue I find critical for long days in boots while loaded up that often leads to hot spots and then blisters. I love the unique patterns that allow easy matching after washing. Long term durability is yet to be determined but I have many OLD Smartwool sock that are still going strong with no loss of elasticity or comfort.Price is kind of more than I would normally "desire" to pay but understand the importance of the value a good quality product brings. I would highly recommend sampling any of the new Smartwool lines!... Show more

Great Socks But I Wish Smartwool Would Stop Renaming Them
26 March 2023
I wear these as street socks if I expect to be doing much walking as they are durable and provide some cushioning on the bottom. One thing that I find annoying is that Smartwool marketing renames socks without ever telling the customer what the old names are. I suspect a lot of you are like me and want to buy what you bought before but can't tell 1) What Smartwool is calling them now. 2) Does Smartwool even make the sock (or whatever) anymore. As I said annoying and, from a business point of view, quite dumb. If you call, the agent quite often doesn't know either. You don't want customers saying "Oh, forget it. This is too much work trying to figure out what's what. I'll just buy some more Darn Tough socks instead."... Show more

Great Socks For Working On Your Feet
11 November 2021
These socks feel great, and help alleviate some foot pain from my Plantar Fasciitis. I work as a Meter Reader, and walk over a dozen kilometres a day, over some uneven ground. I wear Orthotic inserts in my hiking shoes, and that helps a lot, but cotton gym socks leave you with sore feet and heels, and give you blisters and corns. When they get wet, or you sweat too much, it all gets even worse. Generally speaking these SmartWool hiking socks give you much better support, so you feel less pain and tiredness in your feet and legs, and the natural wicking ability helps keep your feet drier, also helping a bit with foot odour. I can walk farther and a little faster between breaks, so my day is more efficient, and I complete my daily tasks sooner, with much less pain at ... MoreThese socks feel great, and help alleviate some foot pain from my Plantar Fasciitis. I can walk farther and a little faster between breaks, so my day is more efficient, and I complete my daily tasks sooner, with much less pain at the end of the day. I bought one pair and completed my route with one less break, and I finished it in much less time than usual, so the next day, I bought two more pairs for work. At first I wondered if they were worth the price, and after a few days, I can say that, without a doubt, they are well worth it. I'll never wear cotton socks again for this job. If you walk all day, you need these socks. They come in different levels of cushioning, and they might seem a bit tight, but that's because they are very supportive. Follow the sizing instructions, and you should be fine.... Show more

I recommend Smartwool socks as the best you can own.
16 July 2023
I have purchased Smartwool Socks for over 15 years. The quality, comfort, cushioning and longevity have been outstanding. I used them as a full-time firefighter until I retired. They perform well in all weather conditions and firefighting situations. Whether it is hot, cold, or wet they are great. On wildland or structure fires they keep my feet in good condition. Recreationally they perform perfectly and are my choice for golfing, biking and running. Most of my socks have lasted 7-10 years with little signs of wear. I always recommend them as the best socks that you can own.... Show more

Nice socks for hiking
1 June 2021
After nearly two weeks wearing just this and another pair of socks (between washings of course), there's a lot to like with these.Fit: I'm exactly a size 9, which means I usually fit somewhere between a medium and large pair. For these socks, they fit great, only slight need for adjustment while wearing normally. They were not overly tight around the ankle and calves.Comfort: they had a nice cushion for the duration of the two weeks of testing. They did not bunch up at the toe like other hiking socks, and the seam didn't rub up against the big or pinky toe. In fact, the entire toe cap was very comfortable without the rubbing you sometimes get with an overly tight or loose toe cap.In use: I found that there was less need to stop and pull these socks back up ... MoreAfter nearly two weeks wearing just this and another pair of socks (between washings of course), there's a lot to like with these.Fit: I'm exactly a size 9, which means I usually fit somewhere between a medium and large pair. A welcome finding!Overall, I believe these will hold up over time given the fact that they still look and feel new after extensive use. I think if you're stocking up for a longer excursion, a few pairs of these on a long trail would hold up well through some abuse. Plus, the comfort and subdued color scheme pull the package together into a "highly rated" rating. I would purchase more of these for sure.... Show more

Smartwool socks ROCK!!!
11 March 2023
#smartwool socks are the BEST!!! My husband got a pair as a gift (for Christmas) from a co-worker and is now hooked!! It's the only kind of sock he will wear now!! He's always going on and on about his Smartwool socks.....;)I bought these light cushion hike for him to add to his collection and they are literally the best brand of sock(s) he has ever had. They provide great support and cushion, are breathable, cute pattern - they could be worn as a dress sock, they wash well and DON'T lose their cushion after a a few wears! They are perfection! A really amazing product and if you read a little into the company's back story of how they started and how they work to be conscious of the environment- you will be blown away!!! Totally awesomeness!!!!... Show more

These are some of the best socks, I love them!
14 May 2024
SmartWool socks have been the best socks I have ever worn. They're so comfortable! I have a pair of lightweight hikers, a thicker pair for hiking, and a pair of ankle high running socks, they're all great. The cushion and durability of these socks are part of what makes them worth it for me, not to mention the styles/colors are also cool. Overall great products and great customer service 👍 I hope to try more smartwool products in the future!... Show more

Too many loose threads.
26 December 2023
The socks feel great, but there are several loose threads in the heal as though someone tried the socks on and stepped on Velcro, causing several threads to be pulled out. IMO, that’s why these are heavily discounted. I bought 2 pair and they’re both the same. The sock height is also higher than other socks from SW. I’m 6’2” and the socks go all the way up my calf and are only 5” below my knee. If I wanted socks to go with lederhosen, I would have purchased those separately. Will be returning these.... Show more
