This is a great baselayer. I added this 250 weight to my collection of merino wool tops. The other one I have is 150 and this one is noticeably warmer. It's great for everyday wear as well as exterior wear. Doesn't have to be a baselayer under other clothes. It also works great for winter biking with a medium weight jacket outside. I got size Medium and it fits my 37 inch chest, 5 foot 8 height.

I wear this baselayer directly under my insulated ski jacket (Helly Hansen Alpha 3.0) for downhill skiing. It fits nicely, being trim but not tight. I never feel like it is bunching up underneath my coat. I find this is good under my ski jacket until about -10* to -15* celcius. If colder, I like to add another layer as the chair lift gets chilly.I like Smartwool products and use the 3/4 length baselayer pants and have bought Smartwool products for my wife and kids.

Over the years I've worked in many different outdoor construction settings and heavily rely on base layers.This Smartwool top is easily the most comfortable garment I've worn. It's true to size and warm when outside, yet breathes and doesn't make me sweat if I'm working inside for part of the day.They price tag is slightly hefty but I'm able to wear it multiple times a week when airing it out overnight so it's definitely worth the price tag.I will be buying more in the future.
Such a high quality product that my husband wears his as a stand alone polo shirt as well as an under layer ( as do I because there is no see through). I was initially worried that the wool might be itchy, but that’s not the case. It’s very soft against the skin. I haven’t been brave enough to put it in the dryer on low as the washing directions suggest, so I use a laundry bag with warm water on delicate, then lay the shirt flat on a rack to dry. Perfect every time.This shirt would be ideal for anyone who feels the cold in winter and wants an extra layer under wool & cashmere sweaters or any shirts because the boxed fit is not too tight or loose - it simply curves with the body. Couldn’t be more pleased!
I like Smartwool stuff. I have another 2 of these 250 crew baselayer tops, and I bought a third one in that khaki green (heather?) colour. I specifically bought Smartwool instead of Icebreaker because theirs have neck holes that are so large I call them 'boat necks'. Well, this latest Smartwool top is the same! I complained to Smartwool and they simply sent a canned response 'sorry you weren't happy'. Other than the huge neck opening the top is wonderful, and Altitude Sports delivers on time, their website is well-organized and they occasionally have good sales. I can't fault Altitude at all. But since I wear baselayers for winter warmth I sure don't want large 'sailor-type, boat-neck neck openings.

This is my second purchase of this item. It's well made, very comfortable (not scratchy in the least), stands up well to washing (good colour fastness). It's not really dressy but fine for casual wear on its own. It is expensive but I feel it's worth it because after a year of use and washing my original is still in good condition and unlike its synthetic rivals it DOESN'T STINK. You can wear this thing constantly for a couple of days (come on, admit it, this happens especially during lock downs) and it doesn't get nasty smelling. When you have over done it (your significant other is probably the best judge of this) wash it and it's back to normal. I find that after a few months the synthetics retain odour and are garbage so no money saved there.
