These used to be my favorite socks. I wore them every day. I recently bought some new ones, though, and it's clear that the fabric has changed. The new ones I bought are itchier, not as comfortable, and they shrink much more than the old ones did when washed. They also don't seem to regulate the temperature of my feet as well. This is so disappointing! I actually went to a brick and mortar retailer to see that carries Smartwool to see if I could find any of the old, good socks, and I noticed that for the same style here was a mix. Some pairs had the old, good fabric. Some pairs had the new, terrible fabric. So, I'm thinking Smartwool is in the process of phasing out the old stuff. I have a number of pairs of Smartwool socks bought over the years. I recently bought two pairs from MEC, differing only in the amount of padding, and I bought them based on the size chart on the socks (Large - men's size 9-11.5) like before. Both pairs have "LG" woven into the cuff. One pair fits fine, the other pair is tiny; like 2-3 cm. shorter. If you look at the Size Guide on the MEC site for these socks it has men's 9-11.5 as being an unnamed size greater than XL, which probably matches SOME of the socks they are selling.Bottom line: They still seem to be good socks (time will tell), but hugely variable sizing. Buy them in store where you can see the actual size or be prepared to return some of them.

I have 4 different pairs of the zero cushion running socks at any time. I love how light and breathable they are and I find myself wearing them for the everyday as much as I do for running. They are not as durable as my other smartwool socks that have either targeted or light cushion but when they do wear out, Smartwool's guarantee claim system has always taken care of me.

I purchased probably 100 products from smart wool over the years and have been satisfied overallHowever these socks are a total failure in my opinionI wear them properly however they were thin and develop holes in them after about 8 to 10 usesHow can Smart Wool expect the customer to keep buying their products when it is no longer usable after about 8 uses? Also I am thinking about changing to a whole new product versus smart move because even after many inquiries they will not reply to my questions? All I get is generic boilerplate response to fill out a warranty form and they may issue me a credit. I simply want to know if there's any plans to change the design or strength of these socks so I can make a decision on whether to continue to purchase from ... MoreI purchased probably 100 products from smart wool over the years and have been satisfied overallHowever these socks are a total failure in my opinionI wear them properly however they were thin and develop holes in them after about 8 to 10 usesHow can Smart Wool expect the customer to keep buying their products when it is no longer usable after about 8 uses? Also I am thinking about changing to a whole new product versus smart move because even after many inquiries they will not reply to my questions? I simply want to know if there's any plans to change the design or strength of these socks so I can make a decision on whether to continue to purchase from Smartwool or notI fully understand Wool fibers lacks the durability of more stronger fibers such as cotton and polyester but there's no reason why a sock that I paid $20 a pair for only last 8 uses
These Smartwool socks are my favourite running socks. They're thin and breathable, but also very durable. I've worn and washed them over and over and over and they're still in great condition. No holes. The wool is extremely comfortable. They fit true to size.
These have been my go-to summer socks, but something in their design has changed and they no longer fit. Shrinkflation? I wear 13 wide shoes and never had a problem with these socks fitting comfortably, but I just bought 4 new pair and they are all far too tight. Extremely disappointing because now I have to go find a new warm weather sock.
Perfect ankle sock for any use. I run no cushion as I wear my socks for all activities and prefer them to be without cushion. These are perfect since the no-shows sometimes do not work with certain shoes/boots. These are perfect if you need to wear them more than once without washing, as they do not stink. Coming from someone who tends to have sweaty, stinky feet, these do not stink after multiple wears. I will be buying more, as these are replacing a competitor's merino ankle sock.
I recently purchased a couple different Smartwool running socks so this is generally for all of them. I have been a dedicated smartwool sock user for ~10 years. This latest batch compared to past ones (a) runs very small, (b) have dimples on the heal. I am a male size 9-1/2 D shoe. According to Smartwool that is the low end of size L (9-11.5). Size L out of the box barely fit (had to stretch to get the sock heel fully over mine). So I expect that after washing they will be too small. So I purchased some size XL (12-14.5) which fit great out of the box and should still be perfect after washing. All the socks I purchased were running socks and all had small dimples on the heel which so far don't bother me but this might change with a longer distance.
This product has a very confusing sizing. I usually wear medium for the hike socks. So I ordered medium for the one. However, they run way more smaller, even not close to my other medium smartwool hiking sock! They look like kid socks! No way I can put them on my feet. So disappointed that smartwool has its sizing inconsistent.
Sizing says medium fits 7-9, I'm a 7.5 and these are perfect size for me.Quality, these are thinner than my old zero cushion and the wool content feels very low, comparatively.Problem I see are seams at toe and heel are puckered. I bought 6pair and they are all the same.Wearing first time today and will report back if I need to return. I hope they are great.
