A very comfortable sock!

This will be your new go-to running sock. They are very comfortable, hugged my ankle perfectly and stayed in place throughout the various activities I used them for. I have worn these to the gym, while taking my dog for a walk, running errands and at work where I am on my feet all day. I am looking forward to the miles I will get out of these training for my half marathon this summer! The targeted cushioning prevented the dreaded foot fatigue I can sometimes get if I am not wearing appropriate socks for extended activity - and they do all of this without smelling (you have to appreciate the antimicrobial properties!). I've bought a lot of items in the Smartwool PhD sock product line over the past 5-8 years. I used to buy size small in the PhD ski socks and size medium in the PhD running socks. I once bought size small in the PhD running socks and that pair hurts my toes and gives me blisters, whereas the many pairs of medium PhD socks I own are a dream to wear! Anyway, the product name changed online from PhD running sock to targeted cushion but the sock appeared to be the same as what I've bought numerous times before, so I ordered 5 pairs, feeling confident that I knew what I was getting. Unfortunately they must have altered the fit / sizing when they switched from the PhD running sock to the targeted cushion running sock because the new mediums I recently bought don't fit like ... MoreI've bought a lot of items in the Smartwool PhD sock product line over the past 5-8 years. The new ones fit acceptably well, but since Smartwool socks are fairly expensive and since I love my older Smartwool socks, I was expecting to love my new socks, which I don't. And that's a bummer.

I love these socks and will probably be ordering more.

I love these socks. I ordered a size Large--I typically wear a Women's 10-10.5 in running shoes (Brooks, Asics, On) depending on the brand. These are a tiny bit loose in the foot area but not uncomfortably so--I imagine if I had ordered a Medium, my feet would be really unhappy in them and they would be all over too small/tight. These socks have targeted cushioning in the feet (heels and forefoot) and the tabs come up high enough that they don't ever slip down into my shoe but they're low enough that they're almost unnoticeable when I'm wearing them. The temperature of my feet are so comfortable when I'm wearing these also--I've been wearing them in 80-90 degree F humid weather and my feet are comfortable--not too hot and not sweaty. I do like the color options too ... MoreI love these socks. I ordered a size Large--I typically wear a Women's 10-10.5 in running shoes (Brooks, Asics, On) depending on the brand. I love these socks.
10 July 2024

I love these socks. I purchased new socks earlier this year and have been so pleased with them that I found myself reaching for them over and over again so I bought more. :) I wear a Women's US 10-10.5 in most athletic shoes and got a Large in these. They fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable even in the heat and humidity of summer. My toes aren't squished and the tabs don't show too much around my ankles, but my shoes don't rub either. I do wish there was a color option with white around the ankle and tabs, but otherwise I'm really enjoying these socks.

Love Smartwool Socks!
20 January 2024

I am slowly changing out all my socks for Smartwool socks. I have them in all the various heights and weights for different activities. These are great for any athletic pursuit and keep your feet at a perfect temperature. They just keep getting better with each wash and if they are like my other Smartwool socks, they will last a long time!

Love it when my shoes and feet don't stink, yay!!
15 March 2024

I have been using Smartwool socks primarily for hiking in the last 20 years, but have recently started shifting my day to day socks over from cotton to wool. I've purchased some other brands of wool socks from various retailers, but they never seem as comfortable. What I love about these socks is that they offer a little extra cushion on the bottom/heal/toes, and thinner on top. These socks increase my feet comfort ALL day long. From going into the office and traveling, I love them for everything. Any time I buy new shoes now, I only want to wear wool socks because then my shoes don't stink! Like taking my shoes off on the plane was a no-no before, but now I have the freedom and don't have to worry if I offend others. That's the joy of wool!!

New favorite socks
6 June 2024

I transitioned to these socks over a year ago when I decided to try a little cushion. In short, these are my new favorite goto socks. They wear wonderfully in that they are comfortable, they don't slip and I don't get blisters. They also wash wonderfully and don't shrink or get out of shape. I've worn this brand and style a lot over the past year for working out, long walks/jogs, and for day to day use and I highly recommend them.

The best socks I own (and I've had a lot!)
19 May 2024

By far my favorite 'active' socks. I am slowly working my way up to replacing all of my other socks with these. They're the only ankle socks I've worn that don't end up falling down into my shoe with all day wear. They also keep my feet cool and have never felt sweaty or moist at all. I've worn this style consistently for over a year now and cannot recommend them enough.

Warm or cold these socks do it all

All of these products are going to be the same answer. I wear all of these socks for everyday. I have many, many shoes, and depending on what shoe I am wearing depends which sock I wear. Zero cushion or targeted cushion. I usually wear target cushion for running when I wear Hoka Mach 5 there are very roomy on me (the way I like it) and there is plenty of room for the extra cushion. I wear Zero cushion in my running shoes that I don't run it, Brooks Glycerin, Saucony Endorphin Pro 2 and several models of ON Cloud. The crew is for when I wear over the ankle boots which is usually with jeans. I love Merino wool socks and have been wearing FEETURE'S Merino for quite some time now but the Feetures are just too tight and either hurt my big toe or too tight around the ... MoreAll of these products are going to be the same answer. Wonderfully Comfortable
17 June 2024

I love Smart Wool socks. I just started wearing ankle socks because I have to wear foot drop braces to walk, which means I have to wear tennis shoes to accommodate the braces. I used to wear sandals with shorts and dresses, but now I wear tennis shoes, so ankle socks make them look a little less dorky, I guess. Ha. Anyway, I really like the socks, but they make my ankles swell. I have tiny ankles and lower legs because of the muscle atrophy, so the socks really aren’t that tight, but this is the only ankle sock brand that makes my ankles swell. Weird. But could be just me. I’m trying the other style that come up a bit higher on the ankle. The targeted cushion is wonderful, not to thick and not too thin.
