I recently picked up the SMEG 2 Slice Toaster, and it has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen. First off, the retro design is absolutely charming and adds a touch of elegance to my countertop. Aesthetically Pleasing

Purchased both the kettle and toaster and look stylish stood together. I would say, however, they are a slightly different cream in colour. On the technical bit, it is self explanatory to use (as all toasters) and the toast comes out really hot. Maybe my previous toaster was on it's way out! The best bit though, it browns both side's of the bread to perfection touching the edge's. Really happy with my choice and would recommend but an expensive one compared to other models.

Beautiful but…….

After just returning a Kitchen Aid toaster that was extremely disappointing, I had high hopes that this SMEG toaster was the answer, sadly not. Whilst it felt sturdier and was definitely more pleasing to look at, that was where it ended. I immediately popped in two slices of bread from a standard size loaf, and guess what….. about 2cms stuck out of the top and subsequently remained un toasted!! I am baffled why companies that produce toasters do not take the time to check that an actual slice of bread fits. The only positive was that the bit that was toasted was done to perfection. Back to the drawing board and yet another return postage incurred.

Don't do it!!

Don't be caught by the fantastic looks of this toaster. We bought one, thinking it was our last toaster, and it worked exactly 12 1/2 months. That's exactly 1/2 a month longer than the warranty. We contacted SMEG and it was a no go to cover the defective toaster. We took it to an appliance repair facility and it could not be fixed - the little $1.00 relay that was faulty could not be sourced. We were able to look inside the illustrious case and found that the internal workings of the toaster were really not what we expected inside a $300 toaster.Save yourself the agony and purchase a toaster that costs less and will most likely work longer.

Golden Brown!

I have purchased a Pink SMEG toaster, because it would be rude not to buy something aesthetically pleasing to look at as well as functional to use, whilst in the kitchen. The slots are large enough for me to opt to either toast doorstep or medium sized bread, which is evenly toasted all over on both sides. The toast also maintains the heat, sufficiently well, which is good for me as I am a slow eater. The defrost button, toasts the bread evenly, as it is defrosts. There are nine browning settings to suit the fussiest of tastes.There is simplicity in the beautiful vintage design of this range and I shall now be purchasing the rest of the SMEG breakfast set as they are such refreshing colours to select from.

Highly Recommend

I rarely write reviews but I really love this toaster. After reading the reviews between the two and four slice, I went with this one and I’m so glad I did. It toasts evenly and everything comes out nice and hot. The crumb drawer makes for easy cleaning and it really looks nice on my counter. I like the convenience of not having to put my kitchen devices away all the time and Smeg’s sleek design adds a beautiful, modern touch to my kitchen counter. Bottom line, it’s beautiful and it works very well. I highly recommend.

Love this toaster but clear design flaws

We received this toaster as a wedding present in the Matte Black and it is stunning, people always mention it when they walk in our kitchen how beautiful it is. It toasts great, haven't had any of the issues people are facing. However, it has some clear design flaws that a $200+ toaster should not. The Matte color scratches sooo easily, we have tons of scratches and it hasn't moved since we set it up in the kitchen. The lever to push the toast down seems to be scratching it too. Also, most toasters will allow you to push the lever up after it's done toasting so you can reach smaller items and this one does not. Normally not an issue but you definitely have to be careful when pulling out smaller items like english muffins or mini bagels. Terrible toaster and customer service

Very disappointed in this product and Crate & Barrel customer service. The toaster does not work, barely hears up what I put in it and I have to try a few times for it to get slightly toasted. I reached out to customer service online and they said I could bring the toaster to the store to return even though I didn’t have the packaging anymore. I called the store just to make sure they agreed and I didn’t waste a trip and they said the same thing, to bring to the site and I can return. I get to the store and they turn me away immediately telling me I cannot return because I don’t have the packaging and it didn’t matter to them that I had two other of their associates tell me I could. Toaster looks good, but not fit for purpose.

This was a replacement for my Smeg toaster on which the spring mechanism broke and apparently could not be repaired. I bought this online, sight unseen, thinking that it was the same as the one I was replacing. Surprised to see that it is much smaller and yet still very bulky. The 2 slice compartments are too small to fit several of the sliced loaves I have tried which is a real nuisance. I am not at all pleased with my purchase. When I went to a store to look at the range I see that they have changed to a much bulkier toaster to fit 4 slices as my old one did. It would take up too much room on my counter top. I am really annoyed that I paid a premium for a Smeg toaster which is not really fit for purpose. I have the pale blue Kettle so wanted to match.
