As a toaster , looks great, nice size, feels nice and crisp to operate has a feel of quality nice tension on the spring when sliding the leaver down and clicks in with a positive CLICK. Heats up pretty quick.Dials easy to use can have two different heat settings on both sides .BUT, BUT, the heat setting numbers on the outside ring of the dial, I find some what hard to read with the shiny chrome affect reflecting the gloss black . It’s hard to see the numbers through the reflection.it’s a sturdy looking toaster with a quality feel with clean lines looks good in our kitchen, so far so good would recommend 👍

The name SMEG is synonymous with quality but I do find this a bit cheap and cheerful when it comes to the buttons and the trays. I wonder, if my kids were still at home would it make it to the warranty date? I have been looking for a four slice toaster to replace my 3 slice Dualit but this is no comparison. This is not cheap a toaster and I probably purchased for the brand to match my oven.On the up side - yes there is one - I do love the simple to use controls (although flimsy), the fact that you can use just one side when only two pieces are needed or both when four are required. I also love the generous width capacity and of course the look and colour (white in this case).

The mint green toaster is a perfect match for my kitchen, with a classic retro feel, and the 4 slices toaster is great for the family. Sometimes it can be a little tricky to get small pieces of toast out, but otherwise it toasts great, with multiple heat setting to choose from. Would recommend.

This toaster is great with room for 4 slices, making it great for more than one person at a time. It has lots of cook time settings with half steps between increments, a defrost, reheat and bagel mode. The only reason I’ve dropped a star is it doesn’t have the ability to raise the toast higher to aid in removing smaller things (eg crumpets, muffins) like some cheaper brands. Otherwise this a great option and looks great in the kitchen.
Have had this toaster for about a month now and can't really fault it. It's very consistent in what it produces, if the slice thickness is the same it will always cook exactly the same amount. Looks good in the kitchen and has the feel of a true luxury product. Love the lights it comes with on the stop buttons as well, neat touch. Highly recommend!
Good quality, was shipped fast. Is it weird to say that this toaster compared to our last seems to make the toast “hotter”. Dials are nice and colour is beautiful. If I had to pick a fault it doesn’t have any “extra lift” which our previous did. Very happy with this purchase.
My new pastel blue SMEG toaster is exactly what I wanted. It looks and is the part. The buttons click into place and knobs turn easily. I find my toast when cooked is controlled when it pops up and no longer flies through the air. It's nice not fighting the dogs for it when it finally lands. I particularly like the click in / push release of the toast crumb tray. Whilst beautiful and my toaster feels well made I feel it is over priced. I bought mine in a package deal which made it more affordable.
The smeg toaster colour pallet choice is fantastic , with the performance solid . It’s toasts evenly , however the toaster is not designed for different types of toasting . Specifically crumpets are not catered for with this toaster . The price point should reflect a high range of choice and it does not . I suspect it is the toaster designed for a community of Bagel lovers (USA?) but not so much for those of us in the summer hemisphere .I could be mistaken but the instruction manual does not cover crumpets . I would have to say I am disappointed given the cost . The toaster should have a crumpet option.
It looks beautiful on the bench top.Easy to use!!! And my frozen banana bread has never been tasted so yummy and crusty before!!! It’s a good investment. Also the delivery was super fast and package was arrived in good condition!!
This replaced our older 2.5 year old broken SMEG 4 Slice (2 slot) model.(That older model the spring would not stay down and allow an electrical connection for the filaments to glow - possibly damaged by large pieces of lost toast in the mechanism having fused something in the controls - caused by having broken off pieces of too dry home made bread experiments falling into the toaster).Like the greater flexibility for 2 separate toasting zones, also the spring mechanism is now more controlled and doesn't acrobatically launch light pieces of toast onto the work surface - toasting seems a much less frenetic affair now! Sounds weird but this toaster is much more refined in delivering finished toast without fuss or fanfare - no loud 'boing', 'clash' or 'clatter' with ... MoreThis replaced our older 2.5 year old broken SMEG 4 Slice (2 slot) model.(That older model the spring would not stay down and allow an electrical connection for the filaments to glow - possibly damaged by large pieces of lost toast in the mechanism having fused something in the controls - caused by having broken off pieces of too dry home made bread experiments falling into the toaster).Like the greater flexibility for 2 separate toasting zones, also the spring mechanism is now more controlled and doesn't acrobatically launch light pieces of toast onto the work surface - toasting seems a much less frenetic affair now! Sounds weird but this toaster is much more refined in delivering finished toast without fuss or fanfare - no loud 'boing', 'clash' or 'clatter' with that volcanic eruption of toast to startle your morning.Thought the lever mechanism would allow the cooked toast to be lifted a little higher for removal - but it seems a very limited amount of extra reach is allowed in the design. You might want to consider some toast racks (as per picture) which make getting smaller 'artisan' (read broken home made bread) pieces of toast out of the machine without resorting to stabbing inside to remove bits of toast with your knife, damaging the filaments or electrocuting yourself. They also reduce the amount of toast debris that collect inside as well allowing for 'cooked' toasted sandwiches as per their sales marketing - but we've not used them for toasted sandwiches yet.Of course the toast racks cost extra (should really be included with toasters of this price range you might think) and they are very hard to source. These are not even SMEG - can't find SMEG ones anywhere in Australia and getting them online via Amazon costs almost as much as the toaster. We ended up getting some compatible Dualit versions - again online from UK as couldn't find them in Australia - but at a much better value than the prices for original SMEG online ($25 vs. $175 !?!).On the subject of toast debris - this is probably something visible with a more detailed look at the online photos but the crumb trays (2 in this model) are accessible from the rear - so in the normal kitchen setting are unlikely to be used regularly - obviously difficult to deliver from a design point of view but would be better to have been located for use at the same front side as the controls to encourage their use and make them easier to access.Might seem like a negative review but the niggles above are overall design related and not things that are going to change for this model so it's not meant as a negative review. Good toaster - well overpriced for a toaster but you know that already if you are looking at this and other equivalent brands, but it's solidly built and has a good realistic range of browning settings that work well with the defrost. Browns differently to the last SMEG we had, but not unexpected as its a different power output. Once you have mastered the setting its good to use the different settings for each 'side' that allow multiple family members to have potentially different bread types they like done to their liking.Myer online order and delivery was overall very efficient and price was cheapest online (at the time of purchase, due to 'sale'). If we'd seen it instore we still would have purchased it despite the product design comments above (spring & crumb trays) - it matches other equipment we have and the overall kitchen style, so any stainless steel looking competitors were never really serious competitors for us, despite some of them having excellent reviews and competitive features.
