the listing says: "This product with stainless steel powder-coated body. It includes a removable stainless steel limescale filter, and auto shut‐off when water is not detected." This is false advertizing. The whole outside is plastic. I don't see any stainless steel powder-coated body whatsoever. The inside might be stainless, although there is plastic, plastic everywhere! I don't know if this is the real thing or a knockoff. For the high price, I had relied on the summary. When you look down at the specs, its says plastic. ugh.

A staple item in the kitchen!

The tea kettle is one of the most used items in my kitchen, and in the kitchens of other family members. The soft yet bold punch of color is perfect for brightening any kitchen. They are safe, easy to use and clean, heat very efficiently, and do not emanate little to no noise at all. If you are an avid tea drinker, this is the product for you. You can control the temperature settings and brew the perfect cup of tea in minutes. I have used it multiple times a week for well over a year (maybe even 2 years), and it has yet to decline in function. Definitely worth the investment!

Extra cost doesn't equal extra quality

I have owned this kettle for 2 years and eventually the little piece that connects the base to the kettle got damaged and the kettle wouldn't work. I took it apart and I had to replace the entire part inside the kettle body that operates the thermostat and the switch and all the working parts. Upon searching for the part online I realized this is just a standard part and the exact same part is in dozens of different brands of kettles that will cost you a fraction of this kettle. The moral of my story here is, the hefty price of this kettle is based on the brand and the look not the quailty. The actual working components of it are not superior to other kettles. Good Kettle But Not Worth 200 Dollars

This is the second one we have had. The first one we had, had to return as the lid won't pop up on demand. So disappointed that a $200 kettle wouldn't do the fundamental thing like to be able to fill with water. Really happy that we were able to exchange no questions asked at the Good Guys. Upon returning home with the New Kettle, well same problem as the first one. So angry once again. We are just going to return this one also and continue to do so until we get one that works......!!!!!

Love it!

Ordered in red. Received cream colour, which is actually the one I wanted but was marked as unavailable. As for the kettle itself, it's beautiful. Fast, quiet operation. Comes to a boil in half of the time of my old Black & Decker. Love the touch-to-open lid and soft close features. Even the lever is quiet when it releases. Like the internal filter built in to spout. Not sure if the cord is silicone or rubber, but it's softer and more flexible than the plastic-covered cords on cheaper brands. Bonus - it comes with a set of replacement silicone feet. I'm thrilled with it.

Lovely kettle!

I got this in pink for a dear friend's birthday. She is obsessed with Smeg. She loves it, and heats up water just to hear its enchanting sound when the water is ready. She mainly uses this for her pour-over coffee, but it works for soups, tea and cocoa, too. This darling kettle is one appliance you don't mind leaving on the countertop; it's never "clutter"!

Only purchase if you want plastic flavour hot beverages

SMEG instructions advise rinse, boil and wipe inside before using kettle. The plastic smell of both coffee and tea endures despite multiple rinsing, including use of lemon, bicard soda as well as vinegar. Still hasnt removed plastic odour and taste. If you dont want a plastic taste from an over priced kettle, try a different product.

SMEGSATIONAL!!

Thrilled with this mini kettle in red. I ordered it from Williams Sonoma in October and every month had a delay email. When QVC offered it recently I ordered it and very quickly the kettle was at my door. This mini is solidly engineered while being so cute you forget it's a high-end appliance. The electric plate and cord are substantial - nothing flimsy as it lives up to the SMEG name. Right out of the box I had to put it to work. I cleaned it out and put in 3 cups of cold water and flipped the little toggle. Before I knew it the water was bubbly and then 'click' the toggle turns itself off. Perfect for me as I usually only need 1 -2 cups at a time and have forgotten the water on the burner more than I care to admit. Smeg Kettle quality

I was so excited to see a 1 litre kettle by smeg, could not look at it in store as it was out of stock, however ordered online. Just received it to find the whole thing is nasty plastic. For $200 I would of expected better quality. The base is the nastiest plastic I have ever seen, which I would expect it to crack if the kettle was place down on it a little heavy. My current $20 Aldi kettle is better quality that this one. I am very disappointed. Quality and Value is poor. Performance, well it boils water, nosily, but boils it! I usually read product reviews however being a kettle, didn't think I would have too.

Why did I wait?

Why did I wait so long? Have been looking at this mini kettle for a very long time. I couldn't rationalize the cost and ended up purchasing another brand. It worked but the look just wasn't as cute. I finally caved, purchased this one and so happy with my little kettle. It brings water to a boil much faster than my other one and looks MUCH cuter setting out on my counter. So?! I'm out the money spent on the first. I'll figure out what do do with it later. For now, I'm so pleased with this purchase.
