other than a plain slice of regular bread out of the bag, this toaster is unpredictable in how toasted it comes out. Sometimes not at all, sometimes burnt. Doesn’t do especially
great with sourdough or thick slices but she does the job! Just keep an eye on your toast! Honestly worth it for the aesthetic.

I received this toaster as a birthday gift because my friend knows I’m obsessed with the look of SMEG. I do love the toaster and it definitely toasts but I think if it’s anything else other than a plain slice of regular bread out of the bag, this toaster is unpredictable in how toasted it comes out. Sometimes not at all, sometimes burnt. Doesn’t do especially great with sourdough or thick slices but she does the job! Just keep an eye on your toast! Honestly worth it for the aesthetic.

I just love the red color and leave the toaster on the counter all of the time now. I used to hide the old one away. However, the toasting is not good. It only toasts one side of the bread. It's disappointing that everything that comes from another country is so inferior. So sad because it's beautiful.

I’ve read all the other toaster reviews and researched for months prior to purchasing my SMEG. And I have to say it not only looks design-fantastic, unlike several other viewer’s comments I found that it toasts both Rustic, Sourdough, Ezekiel Sesame & GF breads perfectly! Ha! Also had frozen a few Pancakes from my own recipe, popped it in my SMEG and was totally surprised that it worked for a super quick breakfast & snack. No problems with it whatsoever! Crate&Barrel communicated well & It arrived on time—was packed securely. So happy I bought via CrateB & highly recommend!

Waist of money this has to be the worst purchase I have ever madeIt’s not consistent and has been replaced by the manufacturer twice and was told this was the last time , first time the finish pickled on it second time it just stopped working and this now the third toaster is not consistent at all and if you have a thin slice of bread it will fall down to the bottom of the toaster and you CANNOT get it out all this in less than two yearsIt was nice that they replaced it twice but I’m so disappointed with it

I wanted to love this, I’ve been looking at it for a while as we love copper kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, the copper color varies from all of our other appliances. I am surprised because I haven’t had this issue with other kitchen brands (kitchenaid, antique copper accessories, or our pictured aarke). Going to check if this was just a manufacturing variance or if this smeg colors truly are different.

I purchased this toaster in blue several months before moving into my new home. By the time I moved and used it I immediately realized it only toasted one side of the bread. It does offer this feature for bagels but it is the only way the toaster toasts! Upon looking at reviews at this point I read this was a common complaint. As I was past Bloomingdales return policy I worked with SMEG and went through an absurd process to receive a new toaster. I am now the owner of TWO blue SMEG toasters that only toast one side of the bread. Bottom line is it's a beautiful looking piece of junk!

I love the style of SMEG and their toaster was on my wish list for a long time. When my old toaster broke, I was excited to purchase this. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations and I will be returning it. Many of the "chrome" parts are plastic with a finish that looks similar to chrome. It is obvious that the bottom, dial, plunger and top are made of different materials with different looking chrome finishes and only believe one part to be made of a chrome covered metal. The cord is non-retractable and it and the plug are eyesores. This is an expensive toaster, but the quality is similar to the $20 dollar toaster I am replacing. I rate this 4 stars for style and 1 star for quality. Luckily, Nordstom has a wonderful return policy.

I sent an email to Smeg because my black SMEG toaster that is 18 months old is broken. I asked how to get a repair and included a photo, a Bloomingdales receipt and the serial number. They wrote back simply "Smeg USA small appliances carry only a one-year warranty." SERIOUSLY!? No offer of repair, an apology...nothing.
