This replaces a lesser frother that was almost impossible to clean and lasted only 18 months. The Smeg version looks fantastic on the countertop and is a dream to clean (I haven't tried it in the dishwasher yet). It's a tad noisy and slow, and the frothiest froth is perfect for me but might not suit someone who wants an airier finish. It's ridiculously expensive and a triumph of form over function but I like it very much. Delivery from AO was super speedy and efficient.

Such a beautiful design. Not a big fan of the huge SMEG lettering on the front and back, but I understand why they do that. The frother makes beautiful pillows of microfoam with 2% cows milk, and warms the milk to a perfect 140° according to my laser thermometer. The jug is easy to clean, and the eight different settings are useful.Expensive, but worth it.

So, we're in lockdown here and drink a lot of coffee. This was a big debate in our house, coz it's not cheap, and I was googling and youtube searching for days trying to see what to get, but it was so worth every cent. We can make 2 'proper' Aussie style mugs (versus small cups) of latte style coffee in one go... that was the biggest selling point for us, the amount of milk you can heat/froth in one go, as I was sick of making one coffee at a time with our cheap version. I also make hot chocolate for my boy in it, by heating the milk and once it's spinning pretty quick, that's when you add the milo, not too early, as it will get stuck in the frothing device at bottom of the machine (You tube video showed me that before I bought!) It is insanely easy to clean - literally just rinse after use, and we pop it in the dishwasher once a week, maybe not even! We don't have it on major froth selection, and we have barely played around with what else it can actually do, but for now, our broken Nespresso still makes the shot of expresso for us, but not the milk, and this, THIS IS AMAZING. Don't hesitate... we were looking at the style that also reviews well, which I think is a Beville at $169... we decided to treat ourselves to this pretty machine and it is by far our favourite new toy! Go SMEG! The red looks awesome, too! Delivery was quick and easy, everything about this order has been perfect. So happy!

Elevates my mornings!
15 December 2022

This Smeg Frother is excellent and easy to use and clean. I’ve had other frothers that were tricky to get completely clean but the unit that holds the milk can be washed in the dishwasher so I know it’s clean. There are no wands to connect either. It works with two magnetic disks, one for frothing and one for warming milk, that sit on a small post at the bottom of the frothing container (I wash these by hand). There are easy to use settings for cold or hot foam, stiff or light foam, or hot chocolate or just heating milk. I don’t have to guess at the temperature, just select the setting I want. I like hot sturdy foam with my morning coffee and the foam the Smeg produces far outperforms any other hand held or wand frother I’ve used in the past. It takes about a minute and I usually let it sit for about 20 seconds before spooning the foam out. I also use whole milk because I’ve read for frothers generally it yields the best foam. Delicious! It’s a few moments I can pause and enjoy in the morning before rushing off to another hectic day! Simple to use and well worth the money since we use it at least once a day.

Great for making chai tea
3 June 2023

I bought this mainly to make chai lattes (using powdered chai tea). It was so easy to use even for a dummy like me and the froth and tea were perfection. There’s two magnetic discs. Select one for full froth, the other for lighter froth and select one of the buttons on the base according to your needs (just milk froth, hot chocolate etc). And voila! A perfect cuppa. It looks beautiful with my Smeg toaster and kettle and is easy to place as the handle can sit left or right if you need to put it in a corner. Love this frother so much.

Great little machine!
3 February 2022

I bought this machine about a year ago and since then it has performed brilliantly. I use it pretty much twice a day everyday and it does everything perfectly. Makes very frothy milk which can be adjusted for no froth or alot of froth. Once your finished you can put the whole lot in the dishwasher to be cleaned. I like to seperate the 2 little whisking wheels for better cleaning.Only feedback I would provide to the designers is I wish the edge for pouring was designed better so the milk doesnt fall over the side of the jug when pouring. The pouring sometimes lets the milk fall down the side often which is a little annoying.Otherwise this is a brilliant machine its good looking and performs great. Defintely worth purchasing and well worth the money for something I use everyday.

Great looks, bad quality
16 April 2024

Unfortunately, the product is bad quality. I cannot believe that an item with this price is wrongly fabricated. The silver colour of the base broke away in flakes after only using it for a few weeks. Returned it immediately. Flakes of the colour got into the food, this is clearly a very unsafe way of producing a kitchen item. Really sad, as I liked the product. I hope it will be replaced.

If I could leave 0 stars I would

This is essentially a decoration for your countertop.I got this as the 'treat' for myself on our wedding registry and it has caused nothing but fury. It was not long after I received this that it stopped frothing and made a terrible grinding noise regardless of the configuration of the magnets. I replaced all of the magnetic pieces to no avail. To replace the pieces I had to order parts from over seas that took months to arrive.Their customer service is not reachable. I am going to try to return it thru my wedding registry but I cannot say this enough DO NOT PURCHASE THIS.

Looks great but not good for non-milks.
19 March 2023

I ordered this after reading that it would froth almond/oat milk. We have been vegetarians for 40 years so real milk is a no-go. We love froth in our coffee and have purchased every kind of non-milk as well as dozens of frothers. Nothing works unless you wear your wrist out, and some of the battery frothers need new batteries every week. This froths no better than anything else we have tried BUT I am keeping it because it makes great hot chocolate. As far as looks, it is amazing; another reason I am keeping it.

We Really love this pink smeg milk frother
10 February 2023

I really love it. My nespresso one didn’t make enough and always spilled out milk. So we plan on taking the little neapresso one with us on vacations and keeping this beautiful pink smeg appliance on the counter. This smeg one is easy to clean and there are no messes. Our cuisinart coffee pot broke after 5 years. I really wanted a pink smeg coffee pot but after careful consideration we went with a pink moccamaster since they say they last at-least 20 years and make great coffee. I still felt depressed that I didn’t have a pink smeg anything and was very happy to see the positive reviews for their milk frothers! We have made matcha tea and hot chocolate in it too! If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten a yellow, white or blue moccamaster instead of pink because the two pinks clash and can’t be next to each other on the counter. The pink smeg frothers is glorious! My husband was not happy that I kept purchasing coffee stuff but now he is so happy with this new frother too!
